cleaning your hard floors has never been so easy.
To get the best from your new cleaner, please take a few moments to read these
instructions, and keep them in a safe place for future reference.

WARNING:
It is hazardous for anyone other than a competent person to
carry out any service or repair operation that involves the
removal of a cover which gives protection against exposure to
electrical parts.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons
in order to avoid a hazard.
This product is intended for household use only. Do not
operate this appliance for anything other than its intended
use. Do not use outdoors.
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and
above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge IF they have
been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are
older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord
out of reach of children less than 8 years.
•Do not direct steam at people, animals, electrical outlets,
or equipment containing electrical components.

Safety instructions
•Unplug from power outlet when not in use. Do not leave
steam mop unattended while plugged in.
•Do not use with damaged cord or plug.
•Do not immerse in water or other liquids for cleaning.
•Do not use steam mop if it has been dropped, damaged,
left outdoors or dropped into water.
•Keep the steam mop away from water; do not allow it to
get wet. If unit is wet, do not plug unit into wall socket or
turn unit on.
•Do not handle steam mop with wet hands.
•Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close
door on cord, pull cord around sharp corners or edges, or
expose cord to heated surfaces.
•Do not unplug by pulling on cord.
•To protect against electrical shock do not immerse cord,
plug, or appliance in water or other liquid.
•Unplug from the mains outlet when not in use, before
putting on and taking off parts, and before cleaning.
•The use of accessory attachments not recommended by
the appliance manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock
or injury. Only use the accessories supplied by the
manufacturer.
•Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the worktop, or
touch hot surfaces.
•Never remove parts from the appliance, such as the screws
and so on.

•Do not use cleaner in an enclosed space filled with vapour
given off by oil-based paint, paint thinner, some moth
proofing substances, flammable dust, or other explosive or
toxic vapors.
•Do not use on leather, wax polished furniture or floors,
synthetic fabrics, velvet or other delicate, steam-sensitive
materials.
•Never put descaling, aromatic, alcoholic or detergent-based
products into the cleaner, as this may damage the unit.
•Close attention is necessary when used near children.
•Do not store with a wet mop pad still attached.
•Using distilled or demineralized water will maximize the
performance of your steam mop.
•Not recommended for use on carpets.
•Do not use steam for space heating purposes.
•Use on waxed or some unwaxed floors may diminish
glossiness. Do not use on unsealed floors. Test in an
inconspicuous area or check the care instructions from your
flooring manufacturer.
•Do not use the vacuum to pick up water or any other
liquids, or to pick up combustible substances, including
hot/burning objects.
•The filling aperture must not be opened during use.
•Only ever use the cleaner when it is fully assembled.
•Never leave the cleaner unattended when switched on.
•Do not switch from steam to vacuum mode.

Safety instructions

Safety instructions
•Never place your fingers or other objects into any part of
the cleaner. Be aware that loose clothing or hair may
become trapped in the cleaner if improperly used.
•Before use ensure that all of the air vents of the cleaner
are clear and there is no restriction of air flow.
•When in use, ensure the power cord does not become
trapped, pulled over or is left in close proximity to a strong
heat source. Do not run over or pull the power cord
around sharp edges.
•Do not use this cleaner for cleaning the stairs.
•Caution: Exhaust air discharged from the sides of this
cleaner may extinguish a gas fire, pilot light or disturb
ashes in an open fire. Always avoid directing the cleaner
towards naked flames.
•Important: This cleaner has a thermal safety device which
automatically cuts off the power supply in the case of over
heating. If the safety device has switched the cleaner off,
unplug from the mains and allow the cleaner to cool down.
Once the cleaner has completely cooled down, plug it back
into the mains supply and switch on.

Symbol IEC 60417-5597 (2002-10)is used on the unit to
indicate that this unit operates with hot water vapour
(steam). To avoid scalding and burns take extra care when in
use.

Before using your steam mop:
Remove all packaging and lay out the separate components.
Check the steam mop after unpacking for any visual damage such as:
•Misaligned or damaged parts
•Damage to the main body and separate components
•Damage to the plug or cable.
If you can see any damage do not use the steam mop and refer to page 22.
Steam cleaner assembly
Slot the aluminium handle into the opening on the
top of the main body.
This will only fit in one way.
Refer to diagram on the right.
Tighten the supplied screw in to the
back of the main body, using a
screwdriver.
A screwdriver is not supplied with the
product.
Note: Ensure the screw is fully tight,
but do not over tighten.

Mode controls
The Abode Vac & Steam has 2 operating modes:
Vacuum Mode Steam Mode
Avoid vacuuming with the steam
base attached.
Avoid vacuuming with the steam
base attached.
Move the black marker from the
central ‘off’ position, twisting the
dial clockwise for vacuum
function.
Refer to page 10 for instructions.
Move the black marker from the
central ‘off’ position, twisting the
dial anticlockwise for steam
function.
Allow the unit to heat up for 20
seconds whilst the water heats,
then tilt handle back to activate
steam pump.
Refer to page 13 for instructions.
Note:
This product is a hard floor
cleaner only.
It is not designed for use on
carpets.

Vacuum mode
Once the handle is assembled, pull
and twist the cord holder to unwrap
the cord.
Plug the unit into a mains socket and
turn the power on.
Move the black marker from the
central ‘off’ position, twisting the dial
clockwise for vacuum function.
Your Vac & Steam is vacuum-ready.
To begin vacuuming hard floors, place your foot
lightly on the top of the unit base and tilt it back.
Note:
•DO NOT use vacuum function if frame and pad
are attached to base of cleaning unit.
•Only use on non-carpeted and sealed surfaces.
•Vacuum surfaces before steam-cleaning to
avoid a build-up of condensation in the room –
DO NOT steam clean first.
•Before moving on to another room, wait 10
minutes for the condensation to clear before
vacuuming again.

Storage
1. Lightly place your foot on the top of the unit base.
Tilt the unit forward to the upright position.
2. Move the black marker from the vacuum position to the
central ‘off’ position, twisting the dial anticlockwise.
3. Unplug from the mains socket.
4. Tidy away the cord, wrapping it around the cord holders.
Store the unit upright.
Note: Carry the unit by the main body, not the handle.

Vacuum mode
Emptying the dust cup

Press the clip at the bottom of the canister upwards.
Pull the dust cup out and down.
Twist dust cup cover anticlockwise
to open and lift upwards to remove.
Tip canister over bin and tap the side
to empty.

To reattach, place the lid on to the canister, aligning
the black arrows. Twist the lid clockwise to the ‘lock’
position to secure.

Place the canister back in to the
main body, scooping upwards
whilst supporting the body
with your other hand. It may
help to hold the canister at the
bottom and align
appropriately.

Steam mode
Place the microfibre pad on to the base of
the unit, lining up the velcro to secure.
Place the cleaner in an upright
position in to the steam frame and
secure. It may help to place the
front of the head in to the base
first and lower the back.
Note: You must attach the steam
frame and pad to the cleaner
when using the steam function.
Ensure the unit is
in an upright
position and lift
the flap.
Add water to the
filling cup but do
not overfill.
Pour cup
contents into
the tank
without
overfilling.
Maximum fill is
550ml.
Note: Do not use chemicals or detergent cleaners in your Vac &
Steam. Water is sufficient. If you live in a hard water area, we
recommend using distilled water in your Vac & Steam.
Close the flap by pushing it down until it clicks.

turn the power on.
Move the black marker from the
central ‘off’ position, twisting the dial
anticlockwise for steam function.
Do not use the unit for 30 seconds whilst the water heats, then tilt
handle back to activate steam pump. You can use the steam cleaner.
The Vac & Steam features automatic shut off in the upright position.
To stop steam, gently push the handle forwards to stand the unit
upright.
Note: Regularly check the water level and fill anytime throughout
cleaning to maintain optimal steam.

Cleaning and care
To clean the exterior of the device, use a damp, soft cloth and mild detergent.
NEVER IMMERSE THE STEAM MOP IN WATER.
When wiping off the main body, do not allow moisture in the area around the on/off
dial.
Wash non-electrical accessories in warm soapy water and allow to dry thoroughly
before next use.
If the steam mop is damaged, contact the customer service helpline –refer to page
22.
Care of your microfibre cleaning pads
Wash pads in warm water, no more than 40 degrees.
Wash separately. Do not use fabric softener and do not tumble dry. Dry on a line.
Should there be any loose threads on the microfibre pad, carefully cut the threads
with scissors.
Do not try to pull any threads or cut any threads at the base.

Before you clean the appliance, disconnect the mains plug from
the wall socket.

Care of dust cup filters
Ensure the unit is unplugged and the
on/off dial is centred. Once the dust
cup is removed, lift the filter frame out
of the top and remove the two filter
layers from the frame filter.
Insert a dry filter set into the filter
frame.
Note: Ensure that the thick filter is on
the bottom and thin filter is on top as
this will impact on dust cup
performance.
Replace the frame with the filter set
into the top of the dust cup.
Rinse the two filters thoroughly in lukewarm
water. Any excess water should be squeezed
out. Let the filters air dry for 24 hours before
reusing.
Tips: Using water alone, rinse filters thoroughly every 3 months and
allow to dry for 24 hours.
It is recommended to replace your filter set once a year.
Increased care may be required if the unit is used excessively.

1. A. Check that the cleaner is plugged in at the
mains, secured and switched on. Verify that the
fuse or breaker is functioning properly or contact
an electrician.
B. Turn the on/off dial clockwise for vacuum
function and anticlockwise for steam.
C. The internal fuse has blown. Contact customer
services.
2. The power cord may be
damaged
2. If so, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or
similarly qualified person.
The vacuum will not pick
up dirt/debris
1. The steam base is
attached (the steam base
will prevent the vacuum
functioning)
1. Remove the steam base, securing with your foot
on the back of the base and lifting the cleaner
away.
2. The dust container is full
2. Remove the dust container, pressing the clip at
the bottom upwards, and pulling away. Twist dust
cup cover anticlockwise and lift to open. Tip over a
bin, empty and re
-insert.
3. The filter is blocked
3. When the dust cup is removed, twist the dust
cup cover anticlockwise and lift up. Pull filter frame
out and remove the 2 filter layers. Rinse thoroughly
in
luke warm water and leave to dry before re-
use.

Filter may need replacing about once every 12
months, contact customer services.

1. Press and hold in clip at the bottom of the dust
cup
and pull outwards. Remove dust cup cover by
twisting anticlockwise and lifting. To remove filter,
lift filter frame from the top of the dust cup cover
and remove the 2 filter layers.
Coverting from vacuum
to steam
1. Clipping on the base
1. Place the front of the unit base into the steam
frame first, lowering the back of the unit base until
it secures in place. Remember to attach the mop
pad.
The unit is not steaming
1. The unit has no
water/the tank needs
refilling
1. Fill the water tank as per instructions on page 13
of information booklet.
2. The dial has not be set to
steam
2. Turn the on/off dial anticlockwise for steam
function.
3. The unit is in the upright
position
3. The unit features auto cut
-off in the upright
position. Place foot on unit base and tilt unit
backwards to activate steam.

4. Allow 30 seconds once switched on and dial
turned to 'steam' for the water to heat sufficiently
