KEY FEATURES
Int rod uct ion
Absolute Acoustics®NDS UM is a family of HDMI/HDMI matrix switchers capable of transmitting audio, video, and control signals
from any source to any display. As an exclusive feature, UM models extracts the digital audio from each HDMI input to a pair of analog
RCA connectors, enabling the direct connection with any audio distribution system.
With a range of exclusive technologies, UM matrix switchers o ers advanced features for distributing HDMI signals, such as native
support for UHD/4K resolutions and high defnition audio formats, and compliance with the new HDCP 2.2 copy protection standard,
making it perfect for deployment of multimedia distribution systems in residential or corporate environments. Additionally, all inputs
and some output zones of UM mat rix switchers have HDMI audio de-embedding, extracting the digital audio contained in the HDMI
signal into a pair of RCA connectors.
UMs can be controlled manually via front panel buttons or remotely, by sending IRor RS232 codes. When connected to an Ethernet
network, it can also be controlled over Telnet protocol, or through its web interface - which also works as an easy way to perform all
settings. And further expanding the range of features, UM44 can act as an automation hub, forwarding commands received on its
control ports via HDMI-CEC to devices connected on each of its outputs.
Compatible with the new ultra-high de nition sources
and displays, sending signals with resolutions up to
2160@30 with YCbCr 4:4:4, or 2160@60 with 4:2:0 color
format;
Fully licensed and compatible with HDCP 2.2, t he
latest content protection speci cation, enabling the
transmission of ultra-high de nition signals directly
from the source;
Digital audio extraction from the all input and some
output zones, enabling direct connections to
multi-room or professional audio distribution systems;
Control of connected displays through the
HDMI-CEC protocol, saving control ports of the
home automation controller;
Capable of control connected display through the
sending of commands in the HDMI-CEC protocol;
Web interface for con guration and control of the
device, with separated user pro les and optimized
for use on mobile devices.

CEC BRIDGE
HDMI A UDIO DE-EMBEDDING
UM matrix switchers can control connected displays by sending commands in the HDMI-CEC standard. Commands to turn on and o
the display are precon gured in the device’s control functions, and accessible via RS232 and Telnet control protocols. Additionally,
custom HDMI-CECcommands can be sent through a speci c function of the device’s RS232 and Telnet control protocols.
UM matrix switchers extract the digital audio embedded in its output ports to analog stereo audio connectors. To make it possible,
the input audio signal must be in 2 Ch PCM 32-192kHz @16-24 bits. Ensure that the HDMI audio will be sent from the source in a
supported format using the appropriate EDID setting, or making an equivalent con guration directly in the signal source.
Note: If the input signal is in multichannel PCM format, the analog audio outputs will only reproduce audio from left and right
channels.

Note: The operation of CEC Bridge is subject to the
availability of HDMI-CEC functions on the controlled
display. Depending on the brand/model, some functions
may not work.

At times, HDMI sources and display may not synchronize properly. UM matriz switchers feature an internal library of EDID settings to
ensure HDMI source’s output compatibility with the display devices. The con guration can be performed by device’sWeb Interface, or
by sending RS232 commands. Please reset the unit by either unplugging and plugging the HDMI connections, or power cycle so that
the new settings take e ect.

W EB INTERFACE OPERATION
UM matrix switchers can also be controlled via IR, RS232 or Telnet. Please refer to the speci c documentation, available at
www.absoluteacoustics.com for a complete description of the control functions and codes available for each protocol.
Control via integrated Web Interface is a friendly option for most users. To access it, follow the instructions in the next section of this
document.
Web Interface
UM matrix switchersprovide aWeb Interface for device control and con guration.To access theWeb Interface, rst connect the device
in an Ethernet network. Then, enter the current IP address in a web browser.
When you start the Web Interface access, you'll be prompted to insert the credentials. Two access levels are available: at User level,
only device's operational controls are available; at Administrator level, operational controls and device con guration options are
available. The default credentials are listed below:
Note: The device's default IP settings de ne the addressing mode as DHCP. To nd the address associated with the device, use a
network scanner software. The unit will show up in the scanner as ”Absolute”.
Note: The Web Interface access passwords can be changed by the system administrator. If you cannot login, you must restore the
device's factory settings.
In case a network scanner is not available, the current IPaddress can be found on the matrix switcher’s display.
Press and hold the rightmost button and navigate between the status screens with the and keys until the current IP address
shows up.
