KEY FEATURES
Int ro duct io n
Absolute Acoustics®NDS UHM is a family of HDMI/HDBaseT™matrix switchers capable of transmitting audio, video, control signals
and electrical power supply for distances up to 100m over a single twisted-pair cable. Its unique hybrid architecture combines HDMI
inputs, HDMI and HDBaseT™outputs.
With a range of exclusive technologies, UHMs o er advanced features for distributing HDMI signals, such as native support for
UHD/4K resolutions and high de nition audio formats, and compliance with the new HDCP 2.2 copy protection standard, being
perfect for the deployment of multimedia distribution systems in residential or corporate environments. Additionally, each of the
output zones of UHM matrix switchers features HDMI audio de-embedding of the digital audio contained in the HDMI signal into a
pair of RCA connectors, and extension ports for IRand RS232, send control signals to the remote zone. Enhancing exibility, the last
outputs of UHM are equipped with MultiRange technology, which enables transmission of HDBaseT™signals up to 70m or 100m,
depending on the receiver unit.
UHMs can be controlled manually via buttons on its front panel, or remotely, by sending IR/RS232 codes. When connected to an Ether-
net network, they can also be controlled via Telnet protocol, or through its Web Interface — which also works as an easy way to
perform all settings. UHMs can also act as an automation hub, forwarding commands received on control ports via RS232 (Serial
Bridge) or HDMI-CEC (CECBridge) to devices connected to its outputs.
Hybrid architecture that combines HDMI and HDBaseT
outputs, providing the appropriate connection for each
kind of environment;
Compatible with the new ultra-high de nition sources
and displays, sending signals with resolutions up to
2160@30 with YCbCr 4:4:4, or 2160@60 with 4:2:0 color
format;
Fully licensed and compatible with HDCP 2.2, the
latest content protection speci cation, enabling the
transmission of ultra-high de nition signals directly
from the source;
Digital audio extraction from the output zones,
enabling direct connections to multi-room or
professional audio distribution systems;
Control of connected displays through the HDMI-CEC
protocol, saving control ports of the home automation
controller;
Output ports compatible with both 230 ft (70m)
and 328 ft (100m) HDBaseT™receivers, allowing an
extended transmission distance and enhanced
installation exibility;
Extension ports for IRand RS232 control signals,
enabling the implementat ion of true “one-cable
solutions”;
HDBaseT™outputs provides electrical power
supply to the remote receiver units using the same
CAT cable, making the installation process much
easier.
Web interface for con guration and control of the
device, with separated user pro les and optimised
for use on mobile devices.

A BOUT HDBA SET™CA BLING
Sending HDMI signals (specially at 4K/UHD resolutions) through HDBaseT™technology ishighly sensitive to the quality of cabling and
installation techniques. Thus, we strongly recommend the use of solid conductors CAT 6 t wisted-pair cables (or higher). The
transmission distances for each kind of cable are listed in the table below.
CEC BRIDGE
HDMI AUDIO DE-EMBEDDING
UHM matrix switchers can control connected displays by sending commands in the HDMI-CEC standard. Commands to turn on and
o the display are precon gured in the device’s control functions, and accessible via RS232 and Telnet control protocols. Additionally,
custom HDMI-CEC commands can be sent through a speci c function of the device’s RS232 and Telnet control protocols.
UHM matrix switchers extract the digital audio enbedded in its output ports to analog stereo audio connectors. To make it possible,
the input audio signal must be in 2 Ch PCM 32-192kHz @16-24 bits. Ensure that the HDMI audio will be sent from the source in a
supported format using the appropriate EDID setting, or making an equivalent con guration directly in the signal source.
Note: If the input signal is in multichannel PCM format, the analog audio outputs will only reproduce audio from left and right
channels.

NDS-UHM
CEC BRIDGE
SERIA L BRIDGE
UHM matrix switchers can control devices connected to the remote HDBaseT™receivers by sending commandsin the RS232 standard.
The commands are sent in a one-way stream, from UHM unit to remote receivers’ RS232 port (controlled device’s feedback is not
forwarded back to UHM). Functions to send commands in ASCII and HEX formats can be found in device’s Serial and Telnet control
protocols.
Note: The operation of CEC Bridge is subject to the
availability of HDMI-CEC functions on the controlled
display. Depending on the brand/model, some functions
may not work.

At times, HDMI sources and display may not synchronize properly. UHM matrix switchers feature an internal library of EDID settings to
ensure HDMI source’s output compatibility with the display devices. The con guration can be performed by device’sWeb Interface, or
by sending RS232 commands. Please reset the unit by either unplugging and plugging the HDMI connections, or power cycle so that
the new settings take e ect.
