FAQs & TROUBLESHOOTING
Should the clock on my set top box always be on?
Yes, the set top box will have a clock that remains on all the time. If you do not see the clock, try
unplugging the set top box for a couple minutes, re-plugging it in and allowing the set top box to reboot.
My remote isn’t working.
Solution #1: Be sure your remote is pointed directly at the set top box.
Solution #2: Try changing the batteries (any two AA batteries can be used). Please note that when you
replace the batteries in your remote, it may be necessary to reprogram your remote.
I can’t change the channels.
Chances are your remote and equipment (set top box, TV,) somehow got out of sync. This likely occurred
when the VCR, TV, or STB button was pushed prior to the POWER button. Fix it by:
1) Manually turn off all equipment (TV, DVD, etc)
2) Turn everything back on through the remote
3) It may be necessary to unplug the set top box or reprogram your remote to turn the appropriate
equipment on/off
What do I do when there’s been a power outage?
1) When power has been restored, go to your TV set and manually turn it on.
2) If you see a picture, then you may use the provided remote for the TV and set top box on and off like
usual.
3) If you do not see a picture, then manually turn the TV or set top box off and try turning it on with the
provided remote.
How do I flip quickly between two channels?
By using the LAST button you can maneuver quickly between the current channel and another channel.
There are channels missing when I channel up or down..
Solution #1: You may be viewing the wrong list. Press the GUIDE button to move between lists. You will
know what list you are on by looking in the left hand of your screen directly above the date. Generally you
want to be viewing the Subscribed list.
Solution #2: You may have blocked these channels from being viewed (you can check what you have
blocked, see instructions in your User Guide on pages 11-12).

Where do I find out more information on a program?
In the guide when the program is highlighted the description will appear in the upper corner OR while
viewing the program press the INFO button one or two times to see a full description of the program.
My screen is blue or dark grey.
It may be necessary to unplug the set top box from the electrical outlet, then re-plug it in. Let the system
reboot itself. If these instructions do not work for you, call Ace Repair Service at 1811 (option 5).
What channel will my TV turn on to?
When you turn your TV on, it will come on to the last previously viewed channel. For example, if you were
watching ABC Family prior to turning the TV off, when you turn the TV back on you will be on ABC Family.
However, whenever a set top box is rebooted it will automatically return to channel 2.
My screen is black.
If the screen is black it may be because the program you want to watch is being blocked per Federal
Communications Commission (FCC) Regulations. Ace blocks programming because we are legally and
contractually obligated to do so by the FCC. Local television stations licensed in a television market may
assert exclusive rights within their specified zone, which is also regulated by the FCC. In order for
Ace Digital TV and other cable television systems to broadcast content from local television stations, we
are required by law to block programming for network non-duplication, syndicated exclusivity and sports
blackout rules as requested of us legally.
Ace cannot demand immediate access to the programming available on all local television stations, either
within or outside our DMA. This must be negotiated within the FCC rules. We must abide by the
stipulations within the contract. To be clear: blackouts are not under Ace’s control; they are dictated in all
cases by the local television stations, networks, sports teams or leagues and guided by the FCC.
How do I move up and down the channels in the guide?
To move one channel at a time, use the arrow up or down buttons. Using the CH +/- buttons in the guide
will allow you to look at a page of channels at a time.
There are programs missing in the guide.
Try first unplugging the set top box, wait a couple minutes and re-plug it back in allowing it to reboot. If
the problem has not corrected itself, call Ace Repair Service at 1811 (option 5).
The picture on my TV is frozen.
Try restarting your set top box. You can do this by pressing the power button on your set top box or by
unplugging and plugging in the set top box.
If this does not work, please call Ace Repair Service at 1811 (option 5).
Does Ace have any control over the programs on a channel?
No, Ace provides you with the service, but it is up to the individual channels/networks to be in control over
their programming (including type of show, times it is on etc.). The channels/networks occasionally change
the programming at the last minute and it doesn’t always give the guide an opportunity to match what is
on the TV.
I see no picture on the TV
First—If there is a red light on the set top box, press the power button to turn it on.
Second—Using your original TV remote (not the one provided by Ace) press 03
OR channel up or down on the front of your TV until you get a picture
OR using your original TV remote (not the one provided by Ace) , press INPUT or TV/VCR until
you get a picture
If this does not work, please call Ace Repair Service at 1811 (option 5).
