2. Start-up of the terminal – Important information
Beforestartingupyourterminal,makesurethatapre-chargedbatteryhasbeencorrectly
insertedintothebatterycompartment(onthebackofyourterminal).
• Toswitchonthedevice,presstheOn/Offkeyandkeeppressingituntilitstartsup,and
thenreleasethekey.
• Toswitchoffthedevice,presstheOn/Offkeyandkeeppressingituntilitisturnedoff.
Note1:Whenyouswitchonthedevice,thekeypadisautomaticallylocked.
Tounlockthekeypad,pressthe“OK”keyuntilthelockingkeydisappears.
Note2:Alltheparameters,includingthevolumesetting,areretainedandremainthesame
whenyouturnoffthedeviceorwhenthebatteryisremovedfromit.
2.1 UsingtheVokkerosystem–Basicimplementation
Principle:
Tosetupaconference,allyouhavetodois:
• Assignadifferentnumbertoeachdevicetakingpartintheconference.
• Denetheradiochannelwhichwillbeusedforcommunications.
• Pair upthedevicesinconferencemode(encryptionprocedure).
2.2 Assignanumbertoasystem
Tosetupaconference,rstlyyoushouldidentifyallthedevicesthatwilltakepartinitand
assignthemanumber(role).Aconferencecanbesetupinvolving2to6devices,whichwill
beidentiedbyanumberrangingfrom01to06.
Note1:Oneofthedevicesabsolutelymustbearthenumber01.
Note2:Donotassignthesamenumbertoseveraldevicesbecausethatwouldpreventthe
conferencefromrunningsmoothly.
Procedure:
• Unlockthekeypad
• Onthehomescreen,pressthe“Menu”keyuntilyoureachtheUser MENU(thecon-
gurationmenuwillbedisplayed).
• Usingthe“+”or“-”keys,accesstheRole sub-menu(rolesetting).Press“OK”tovali-
dateyourchoice.
• Selecttheidenticationnumberforthedevicebyusingthe“+”or“-”keys.
• Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• Press“Menu”toreturntothehomescreen.
2.3 FHSStables/Channelsetting
IMPORTANT:Beforeusingthedevice,pleaseobservethelegalprovisionsinforceinyour
country.
Inthese915MHzFHSSversions,Vokkeroistransmittinginfrequencyhoppingmode.
YoucansettheterminalVokkeroon4or5differenttablesofchannels,dependingonthe
congurationofyourmodule.
Therearedifferentgroupsoffrequenciestableavailabledependingonwhenthesystem
willbeused:

Youmustassignthesamechannelnumbertoalltheterminals.
• Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• Press“Menu”toreturntothehomescreen.
2.4 Settingthesystemsinconferencemode(encryptionprocedure)
Principle:Inordertocommunicate,thedevicesmustsaveanencryptionkeysuppliedby
apparatusnumber01.
Thisoperationisrequiredinorderto:
• Enableallthedevicestotakepartinaconference.
• Addadevicetoanexistingsystemthathasalreadybeencongured.
IMPORTANT
Adevicecannotcommunicatewithasystemiftheencryptionprocedurehasnotbeencar-
riedout.Ifyouwanttoaddaterminaltoanexistingsystem,youabsolutelymustcarryout
thisprocedurewithallthedevicesinthesystem(includingthedevicesconguredinListener
mode).
Makesurethateachofthefollowingcriteriaarefullledbeforestartingtheoperation:
• Allthedevicesmustusethesamechannel.
• OnlyonedevicebearstheID01.


Procedure:
• Oneachdevice,pressthe“Menu”keyuntiltheUser MENUisdisplayed.
• Usingthe“+”or“-”keys,accesstheNetworksub-menu.Press“OK”tovalidateyour
choice.

• Usingthe“+”or“-”keys,accesstheStart sub-menu.
• Onterminals2to6,press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• Allthedevicesshoulddisplay“Network Encryption in progress... please wait”.
• Now,pressthe“OK”keyonterminal1.Apparatus01willdisplay“Sending Key. please
wait until process has succeeded”.
• Whenadevicehasreceivedtheencryptionkeyfromdevicenumber01,**SUCCEE-
DED**willappearon-screen.Pressthe“OK”keytovalidateit.Onlydevice01retains
thesamedisplay.
• Whentheencryptionoperationhasbeenvalidatedoneachoftheotherdevices,press
the“OK”keyondevicenumber01toendtheoperation.
Remark:Toquitthemenuwithoutsaving,pressthe“Menu”key.
Onthemainscreen,alloftheterminalsintegratedintothenetworkappearonthe“status”
icon,thusconrmingthattheproductsareproperlypairedup.
Oncethesethreestages(b,candd)havebeencarriedout,youcanuseyourVokkerocom-
municationsystem.
2.5 Adjustingthelisteningvolume
• Makesurethatthekeypadisunlocked.
• Makesurethatyouareonthehomescreen.Press“+”or“–”for2seconds.
• Youwillthenhearabeepintheearphone.
• Toadjustthevolume,press“+”or“–”.Thereare9volumelevels.Themaximumormini-
mumlevelisvisibleviathevolumeicon(cf.thedescriptionofthescreenicons)
• Press“OK”tovalidate.

2.6 Enteringandleavingthenetwork
Whenthecommunicationnetworkhasbeencreated,eachtimeyourterminalentersorlea-
vesthenetwork,thisisindicatedbytwobeeps:
 *4rapidbeeps->enteringthenetwork
 *2slowbeeps->leavingthenetwork
2.7 Usingthe“listener”listeningmode
Itispossibletouseadeviceinlisteningmodeonly.Thedevicecanthenonlyreceiveand
hearcommunicationsexchangedbetweentheotherdevicesintheconference.Itwillnotbe
possibletoheartheuser.
IMPORTANT
• Thelisteningmodecanonlyfunctioniftheusertookpartintheencryptionoperation.
• Thelisteningmodefunctionsonlywhenatleast2devices(01andanotherone)arein
conferencemode.
Procedure:
• Onthehomescreen,pressthe“Menu”keyuntiltheUser MENUisdisplayed.
• Usingthe“+”or“-”keys,accesstheRole sub-menu(rolesetting).Press“OK”tovali-
dateyourchoice.
• SelectListener fromthelistproposed,usingthe“+”or“-”keys.
• Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.

ThefunctionsdescribedbelowintheOptionsmenuareavailableinalltheVokkeroEvolu-
tion3versions.
3.1 SpeakerModeOption
Introduction:
TheSpeaker ModeoptionmakesitpossibletouseoneoftheVokkeroterminalsasa
“relay”toapublicaddresssystem.Thissystemisfrequentlyusedbyrefereesandumpires
incertainsportswhentheyhavetoannouncetheirdecisions.
Note:Thisoptioncanonlybeusedwhentheaccessorydedicatedtoit(aspecicpush-but-
ton)isused.
Procedure:
• Onthehomescreen,pressthe“Menu”keyuntiltheUser MENUisdisplayed.
• Usingthe“+”or“-”keys,accesstheOptionssub-menu.Press“OK”.
• Usingthe“+”or“-”keys,selectSpeaker Mode.Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• Usingthe“+”or“-”keys,selectOn.
• Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• Press“Menu”toreturntothehomescreen.
Onthehomescreen,theSP.Miconwillbeactivated,conrmingthatthefunctionhasbeen
startedup.
TheterminalcannowbeconnectedtoaPublicAnnouncementsystem.Onlyactivationof
thededicatedpush-button(connectedtooneormoreotherterminals)willenablevoice
broadcastingviathisterminalsettoSpeaker Mode.
3.2 Listeningselection
Foreachdevice(inconferenceorListenermode),itispossibletoselectwhichdeviceyou
wanttolistento.Onthehomescreen,adashabovethedevice’snumberindicatesthatitis
selected.Allthedevicesareselectedbydefault.
Procedure:
• Fromthehomescreen,pressthe«Menu»keyuntiltheUser MENUisdisplayed.
• Usingthe«+»or«-»keys,accesstheOptionssub-menu.Press«OK».
• Usingthe«+»or«-»keys,chooseListen selection.Press«OK»toconrmyour
choice.
• Usingthe«+»or«-»keys,navigatebetweendevices1to6.
• Whentheselectiondigitispositionedonthedeviceyouwanttolistento,press«OK»to
selectordeselectlisteningforthedevice.
• Onceallthedeviceshavebeenselected,press«Menu»twicetoreturntothehome
screen.

4.2 Adjustingthe«Sidetone»
TheSidetonemodeenablesyoutoadjusttheaudioreturnlevel(enablingyoutohearyour
ownvoice)inyourheadset(orearphone)speakers:7volumelevelsareaccessible.
Procedure:
• AccesstheOptions menu.Press“OK”.
• AccesstheSidetonesub-menu.Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• Use“+”or“-”toadjusttheSidetonelevel.
• Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• Press“Menu”toreturntothehomescreen.
4.3 «FastMode»Menu
« Fast Channel » quick settings
Principle:
WhenseveralVokkerosystemsareusedonthesamesiteandusedifferentchannels,itis
possibletousetheFast Channelfunctiontoshiftfromonechanneltothenext.Thisfunc-
tionisusefulbecauseitoffersateamsmanagertheopportunitytoshiftfromoneteamto
another(eachoneusesoneofthechannels/tablesavailable,withoutthecommunicationlink
establishedbeingaudibletotheothers).
NB:Ifterminal01changeschannels,theotherboxeswhichremainedonthepreviouschan-
nelwillnolongerbeabletocommunicate.ThereforewestronglyrecommendthatyouNOT
assignrole01toaterminalthathastochangechannelsfrequently.
• Procedure:

• AccesstheOptionsmenu.Press“Ok”.
• AccesstheFast mode.Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• IntheFast mode menu,selectFast Channelbyusing“+”or“-”.
• Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• Press“Menu”toreturntothehomescreen
Using the Fast Channel mode
TheFast Channelisusedviathe“+”or“-”keysonthekeypad.
• Brieypressing(forlessthanonesecond)the“+”or“-”keyenablesaccesstothechan-
nelselection.
• SelectchannelUS1,US2,US3,US4orUS5usingthe“+”or“-”keysandpress“OK”to
validateyourchoice.
Note:TostoptheFast Channelmode,returntothededicatedsub-menuandselectnone
(cf.the“procedure”partabove).
ItisonlypossibletoactivateoneFast modeatatime.ThereforetheFast Channelmode
canonlybeactivatedatthesametimeastheFast volumemode.
Adjusting the “Fast volume” setting
Principle:
Innormalmode,thevolumesettingisaccessedbyunlockingthekeypadandthenpressing
eitheroneofthe“+”or“-”keysfor2seconds.
The“Fast volume” functionmakesitpossibletodoawaywiththeseoperations,thereby
enablingimmediateaccesstothevolumesetting.
Procedure:
• AccesstheOptionsmenu.Press“OK”.
• AccessFast mode.Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• IntheFast modemenu,selectFast Volumebyusing“+”or“-”.
• Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• Press“Menu”toreturntothehomescreen.

4.4 «Group»functions
Principe:
The«Group»functionenablesyoutodeterminewhich“Group”(or“team”)yourVokkero
terminalbelongsto.Upto7differentgroupscanbeselected.Eachofthegroupshasitsown
listeningandspeakingauthorisationswithinthenetwork,uptoalimitof6terminalsinfull-
duplexmodeandaninnitenumberofterminalsin“listener”mode.
Anadditionalfunctionalityisalsoavailableviathe«Group»menu.Youcanopttoaddress
oneterminalinparticularwithouttheotherusershearingyou,nomatterwhatgroupthey
arein.Thisfunctionalitycanbeaccessedinthegroupmenu(cf.theprocedurebelow)by
selectingtheheading“M0x”(xindicatestheterminalnumberwhichyouwanttospeaktoin
particular)fromthelistprovided.Eachterminalisidentiedbyitsrolenumber.
Forexample:terminal1=M01.
Procedure:
• AccesstheOptionsmenu.Press“OK”.
• AccesstheGroupmenu.Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• IntheGroupmenu,selectOnbyusing“+”or“-”.

4.5 «Push-to-talk»(PTT)menu
Principle:
Inaclassicoperatingmode,theVokkerosystemoffers“openmike”communicationenabling
anaudioconference.Incertaincases,itmaybenecessarytoswitchoffthemikesofallor
someofthespeakers(particularlywhenusersaretalkingtopeoplewhoarenotpartofthe
network,orwhensilenceisrequired).
ThePush-to-talk(orPTT)functionallowsyoutoachievecommunicationinstantaneously,or
toswitchoffthemikeusingadedicatedkey.
Procedure:
• AccesstheOptionsmenu,andthenPTT.Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• Use“+”or“-”andselectOntoactivatethefunction.Press“OK”tovalidateyourchoice.
• Press“Menu”toreturntothehomescreen.
OncethePTTmodehasbeenactivated,theMic.iconwillappearonthemainscreen,which
meansthatthemodehasbeenactivated.Themicrophoneisclosed.
Meaningoftheicons:
Using the “PTT- Mute Mic” mode
ThePTT isusedviathe“Vokkero”keyonthekeypad(wheretheVokkerolabelislocated).
• Brieypressingit(forlessthanonesecond)enablesthemic.tobeactivatedordeacti-
vatedpermanently.
• Whenthemic.isclosed,continuingtopresstheVokkerokeymakesitpossibletoopen
themic.andcommunicate.WhentheVokkerokeyisreleased,themic.isswitchedoff
onceagain.
• TostopthePTT mode,returntothededicatedsub-menuandselectOff(cf.the“pro-
cedure”sectionabove).

settingupaconference.Itisrecommendedinparticularforareaswherethevarioususers
arealongwayawayfromeachother.
Integrationintothenetworkisthencarriedoutbyusinganavailable“Role”andthechannel
usedbythisnetwork.
IMPORTANT NOTE :IfyoudecidetodeactivatetheVokkeroterminalsencryptionpro-
cedure,youwillnolongerbeabletoensurethesecurityandprivacyofyourexchanges.

anumberofdifferenttypesofmicro-headsetsandmicro-earphones(1).Nevertheless,you
havetheoptionofchoosingthebiasandgainofyourmicrophonemanuallyaswellasthe
LSgainandechocancellation.
• Fourbiasvalues(Mic.bias)canbeaccessed:0Ohm,680Ohms,2700Ohms,5400
Ohms.
• Forty-fourmicrogainvaluescanbeaccessed:from-12dBto32dB(note:thevalue
33dBcorrespondstomute).
• Thirty-twoLSgainvaluescanbeaccessed:from-12dBto20dB(note:thevalue21dB
correspondstomute).
• Fiveechocancellationvalues(AECsettings)canbeaccessed:Off,AEC1,AEC2,AEC3

Thisfunctionprogressivelycutsthemicrophoneinput(upto78dBofattenuation)when
audiodataappearsintheLSandprogressivelyre-establishesmicrophoneinputgainonthe
disappearanceofaudiofromtheLS.
Onceselected,thisfunctionisdisplayedonthehomescreen.
Note:pleasenote,thisLPMfunctionmustonlybeusedonasingledeviceinthesystem.

The device will not switch on.
• Checkthatthebatteryischargedandhasbeenproperlyinserted.
Communication is being jammed.
