4. GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read this manual and follow the instructions before using the machine.
1. This machine is intended for commercial use, for example in hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, shops, offices, and
Rental Businesses.
2. This machine can be used for domestic use.
3. Warning. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
4. Warning. (Europe) This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
5. Warning. (Europe) Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision
6. Warning. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
7. Warning. This machine is for dry use only.
8. Warning. This machine is not suitable for picking up hazardous dust.

16. Warning. If the appliance is not working, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it
to Rugged Industries Pty Ltd or authorized Service Agent for service
17. Warning. Do not hose down internal parts of the machine.
18. Warning. Switch OFF and unplug from electricity supply when not in use and before cleaning or servicing.
19. Caution. This machine is for indoor use only.
20. Caution. This machine shall be stored indoors only.
21. Caution. Do not leave this machine in the sun.
22. Caution. Use only with approved extension cord.
23. Caution. Ensure that cord is not jammed or trapped during vacuuming. Extend the cord completely but do not
stretch or tug on the cord.
24. Caution. With the extension cord unplugged, wind cord from machine end to prevent cord knuckling, and drape over
the frame for storage.
25. Caution. Do not vacuum hard objects such as glass, gravel, and metal objects.
26. Caution. Fine dust such as powders, chalk dust can only be vacuumed in small amounts. Do not vacuum large
powder spills.
27. Caution. Do not put any objects into openings.
28. Caution. Do not use with any openings blocked.
29. Caution. Do not fill past “Max” level marked on the Bin Wall. DO NOT OVER FILL
30. Caution. Do not vacuum plastic bags or large paper objects that block the mesh filter.
31. Caution. Use Duster provided to remove fluff, hair, lint, or anything that reduces air flow off the Mesh Filter.
32. Caution. Vacuum Motor Filter after emptying bin to prevent air flow loss.
33. Caution. Do not use with Tank Assembly detached from Motor Housing Assembly, or without filters in place.
34. Caution. Use only with Rugged Industries recommended parts and attachments
35. Caution. This machine has been fitted with a suction relief Poppet Valve, which activates on hose or nozzle
blockage. In the event of any blockage, turn the machine OFF, and clear the blockage before restarting.
36. Caution. Advantage has been fitted with a safety thermostat that will automatically SHUT DOWN the machine in the
event of hose blockage or clogged filter. In the event of SHUT DOWN turn the power OFF at the machine, clear the
blockage and clean the filter. The thermostat will reset in approximately 15 minutes.
37. Caution. Do not use detergents, cleaning agents, polish for cleaning any part of the Advantage vacuum cleaner
38. Caution. Transport the Advantage in the upright position only.

5. ASSEMBLING THE MACHINE
1Each machine is supplied with 2 x stainless steel metal wands, 1 x Hose Assembly, 1 x EZ2GO Floor Tool,
1 x Dusting Brush, 1 x Upholstery Tool, 1 x Tool Caddy, 12 x Motor Filters. 1 Motor Filter is fitted, and the other is
positioned behind the Tank as a spare. An additional two packets of 5 are included for spare replacement.
2The machine is configured for right handed operators. You can change to left handed configuration by turning the
tank assembly 180°. Release the Tank Lock at the top of the machine to change configuration or to remove the tank.
3Insert Hose Assembly to Inlet Bayonet and turn anticlockwise to secure bayonet fitting
4Connect wand with Tool Caddy to the Bent End Piece.
5Connect the 2 wands together to create one length.
6Connect the Tool attachment of your choice to the wand.
6 ADJUSTING AND WEARING

Loosen both Shoulder Pads
2. Lift Advantage onto Shoulder sliding
one arm through the shoulder harness.
Slide other arm through the second
shoulder harness
4. Secure Waist Pad around waist to suit
your personal comfort.
3. Tighten Shoulder Pad to suit your
personal comfort

7. VACUUMING APPLICATIONS
1.
The EZ2GO™ floor tool has been designed for both hard and
soft floors. Its low profile allows easy access to low recesses, under
desks, tables, chairs and furniture.
2. When vacuuming loose fabric or light floor mats, adjust the
Suction Regulator slider to the desired level to relieve the vacuum
suction.
3. Advantage is supplied
with a Tool Caddy and on
board tool holder on the
Waist Pad. Whatever your
preference you can carry a
full complement of tools for
any vacuuming task you
encounter.
6. The Crevice Tool is used for
crevice and corner cleaning,
upholstery or spot cleaning.
4. The adjustable Dusting Brush is used
for upholstery, corners, blinds, desk tops
and cleaning cornices.
5.
The Upholstery Tool is used for upholstery
cleaning and narrow gaps.
8. The optional Turbine Brush is used for large areas,
easier hair pick up or when improved productivity and
efficiency are required.
7. Using the optional Combination
Floor Tool you sweep and vacuum at
the same time. This tool is suited for
cleaning irregular surfaces, e.g. tiles,
safety floors, timber floors and
carpet. The foot operated button
extends the bristle for hard floors and
retracts for use on carpet. It is extra
wide for improved productivity.

2. When on the go, or vacuuming
dusty areas, a spare filter can be
carried behind the back pad.
1. The Smart Cord restraint eliminates cord
strain, and provides easy access for cord
replacement.
3. Simply unclip the Micro-fibre Duster
from the Carabiner to clean the Bin and
return after use.
4. Carry your favourite tools on the Waist Pad
5. The Motor Filter is located above the
motor. Simply unscrew the Cover and
service or replace the filter as needed.
6. All back padding use tools free
assembly. Replace parts when worn.
1. Uncouple the Bayonet Fitting on the Vacuum
Hose. (Turn clockwise)
2. Turn the Lever Lock 180ºto lock and unlock
tank.
3. Press the Bin Release
Button to empty bin.

2. Located under the Tank Assembly and above the
Motor Housing Assembly. Remove the Filter Cover
twisting in an Anti-Clockwise direction. Remove the
soiled filter and replace with a clean filter.
1. Vacuum the soiled filter using the Bent End Piece working from
the centre to the edges. Vacuum the soiled side 75% of the time and
the white side 25% of the time. A 30second vacuum restores the filter
to 90% of its original condition. Store the refurbished filter behind the
back padding for re-use. Replace the filter when worn. The filter may
also be washed for a thorough clean. Press squeeze the filter to
remove water, do not wring dry. Use only when filter is dry.
1. Remove dirt lodged on the Filter Mesh by
wiping with the Duster. Filter holes must be
visible all times for good filtration.
2. Remove fluff from seals and cavities
shown.

Turn power OFF at the machine
and Power Point. Unplug cord from
Power Point and wind from machine
end. Drape cord over the Frame.
2. Wrap Waist Pad ends
around to the front of the
machine and lock together.
3.
Ensure Lever Lock is engaged.
Lift the machine from the front by the
Handle to carry. Always transport
the machine in an upright position.

Vacuum cleaners manufactured by Rugged Industries Pty Ltd are to the highest quality standards. We encourage you to
care for your product and follow the instructions in this manual, and in turn you will benefit with a product that provides
performance and long life.
The following statement is a requirement under Australian Consumer Law and applies to consumer sale of goods and
services. In this statement “Our” means Rugged Industries and “you” means original purchaser.
“Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a
replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You
are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not
amount to a major failure”

guarantees
under Australian Consumer
Law, Rugged Industries
warrants the Advantage vacuum cleaner and
model variants against faulty material and/or workmanship for a period of one year, from the date of purchase by the
consumer, when operated and maintained in accordance with the instructions in this Manual.
The following explains conditions and what to do in the event of a claim:
Rugged Industries or authorized Service Agent or person will replace parts
determined
as faulty, but this does not
apply to normal consumable, wear, and rotating parts that require replacement under normal use, including but not
limited to rubber parts, filters, hoses, power cords, floor tools, dusting brush, crevice tools, upholstery tool, tool caddy,
turbine brush etc.
Warranty does not cover any machine or component that has been altered, abused, neglected, modified or used with
non-genuine Rugged Industry components.
Warranty does not cover damage by transportation, freight, delivery, product return, accident, misapplication,
improper service or maintenance, blockages, vacuuming water or bulk powder, moist carpet, use or other
instructions not in accordance with the instructions in this Manual.
All repairs and servicing during the warranty period must be carried out by Rugged Industries Pty Ltd or authorised
Rugged Industries Service Agent or person. Rugged Industries Pty Ltd or authorised Service Agent may request you
to complete a Warranty Claim / Stock Return Form or other similar form before returning any goods. All reasonable
expenses associated with any transportation in returning goods for a warranty claim are the consumer’s
responsibility, and in all instances the product is transported at the owner’s risk.
Rugged Industries will not be responsible for cost of repairs or damages caused by unauthorised persons.
Warranty claims must be made within the warranty period and proof of purchase must be supplied with the claim.
