hHow to Use this Service Manual
This Service Manual is targeted for MSI-authorized dealer or service center. It pro-
vides in-depth illustration of disassembling the system. Each topic may be related
with each other; hence you are highly recommended to read this guide from cover to
cover rst. After that, you may go directly to any specic topic that most meets your
immediate needs.
hNecessary Tools
A Phillips (crosshead) screwdriver and a athead screwdriver, can
be used to do most of the installation. Choose one with a magnetic
head would be better.
Pliers, can be used as an auxiliary tool to connect some connectors
or cables.
Box, can collect the screws and tiny objects.
Forceps, can be used to pick up tiny screws or set up the jumpers.
Rubber gloves, can prevent yourself from being incised and suer-
ing the static charge.
M3X4 screws for general use.
M2X4 screw for M.2 SSD.

hSafety Precautions
The following precautions should be observed while handling the system:
■ Place the system on a at and stable surface.
■ Do not place the system in environments subject to mist, smoke, vibration, excessive
dust, salty or greasy air, or other corrosive gases and fumes.
■Do not drop or jolt the system.
■ Do not bump or knock the LCD screen as it is fragile and could break.
■Do not use another power adapter other than the one enclosed with the system.
■Disconnect the AC/DC adapter before performing any installation procedures on the
system.
■Do not perform any maintenance with wet hands.
■ Prevent foreign substances, such as water, other liquids or chemicals, from entering
the system while performing installation procedures on the system.
■ Use a grounded wrist strap before handling system components such as CPU,
Memory, HDD, mini PCI-E card, etc.
■Place system components on a grounded antistatic pad or on the bed that came
with the components whenever the components are separated from the system.
■ If there are any diculties installing hardware devices, please contact MSI for further
information.

hRemoving Chassis
Step 1.
Place the system veritically on a
at and steady surface. Unlock the
screws on the rear side. Keep the
screws and the cover for later use.
Important
M3X4 screws * 4.

Step 2. Find the notch on the bot-
tom side of the upper cover.
Step 3. Draw and remove the
upper cover carefully.
Step 4. Unlock the screw; and then,
draw and remove the side cover
carefully.

Step 5. Draw and remove the side
cover carefully.
Follow the above procedures
in reversed order to replace the
chassis.
Upper side for upgrading
• 2.5” HDD / SSD

hInstalling Chassis
Step 1. Install the side cover rst.
Keep the lower notchs and the
hooks aligned.
Step 2. Keep the upper notch and
the hook aligned.
Step 3. Slide and push the side
cover back. Then, install the other
side cover as well. Lock the screw.

Step 1. Find the position of the fan
power cable.
Step 2. Unplug the fan power cable
from the motherboard.
Step 3. Unlock the screws and re-
move the holder.

Step 1. Unlock the screws near the
rear side.

Step 2. Unlock the screws evenly in
sequence illustrated in the graphic.

Step 3. Remove the CPU cooler.

hInstalling Memory Module
Step 1. Align the notch on the memory
with the key on the slot and insert the
memory into the slot.
Step 2. Insert the memory module into
the memory socket with the correct
orientation.
Step 3. Push down the memory mod-
ule gently until the bilateral secure
levers are fastened.
Important
Push the memory gently downwards
until the slot clips click and lock the
memory in place.

Step 1. Flip the slot clips outwards
and the memory will spring upwards
instantly.

to unclip it and lift to the fully open
position.

cally lift up as the load lever is pushed
to the fully open position.

Step 3. Hold the CPU carefully or it
may cause serious damages.

socket alignment keys. Lower the
CPU straight down, without tilting or
sliding the CPU in the socket. Inspect
the CPU to check if it is properly seat-
ed in the socket.

under the retention knob.
Step 6. Close and engage the load
lever.
Follow the above procedures in re-
versed order to uninstall the CPU.
