MOWER HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
The cutting height range is approximate y 1-1/2 to 4-1/2
inches. The heights are measured from the ground to the
b ade tip with the engine shut off. The average awn
shou d be cut to approximate y 2-1/2 inches during the
coo season and to over 3 inches during hot months. The
particu ar height may vary depending on soi conditions,
type of grass and height of grass being mowed. For
hea thier and better ooking awns, mow often and after
moderate growth. For best cutting performance, grass
over 6 inches in height shou d be mowed twice. Make the
first cut re ative y high, the second to the desired height.
TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT
• Remove hair cotter pin from ocating pin. (See Fig. 6)
• App y ift pressure to height adjustment ift ever.
• Remove the ocating pin from the height adjustment
strap.
• Move height adjustment Lift Lever up or down to a ign it
with the desired ho e in the height adjustment strap.
• Reassemb e ocating pin into the height adjustment
strap and secure with hair cotter pin.
• Make sure that both side height adjustment straps are
adjusted to the same height.
FRONT TO BACK RAKE ADJUSTMENT
To obtain the best cutting resu ts and to reduce engine
oad, the mower housing shou d be adjusted so that the
front is approximate y 1/2" to 1" ower than the rear. To
check front to back adjustment, measure from the
bottom edge of the deck to the ground at both front and
rear of the deck.
TO ADJUST MOWER FROM FRONT TO BACK
• Remove two hair cotter pins from two c evis pins in the
tow bar adjustment. (See Fig. 6)
• Remove two c evis pins from tow bar adjustment.
• Raise or ower the tow bar to obtain the proper front to
back adjustment.
• Reassemb e two c evis pins to tow bar adjustment and
secure with two hair cotter pins.
FRONT GAUGE WHEEL ADJUSTMENT
The height of the front gauge whee s is adjustab e to
he p prevent the front corners of the mower from gouging
into the soi when mowing on uneven terrain. The factory
setting of the whee s (highest of three positions) is
adequate for most awn conditions. If the whee s are
owered, they must c ear the ground when the mower is
set at the desired cutting height with front to back rake.
TO ADJUST FRONT GAUGE WHEELS
• Remove ock nut and washer from bo t.
• Move gauge whee with bo t to desired height setting.
• Reassemb e ock nut and washer onto bo t.
• Adjust jam nut if whee is too tight or has end p ay.
CAUTION: SHUT OFF MOWER ENGINE
AND REMOVE SPARK PLUG WIRE FROM
SPARK PLUG BEFORE MAKING ANY
ADJUSTMENTS TO THE MOWER.
