Pre-Installation Requirements
1. A suitable shelf, (option available with the unit) for wall mounting,
or customer provided hardware for suspending from ceiling.
2. An AC power outlet, matching the voltage of the unit, within reach of
the power cord. Units are available for 120 or 240 VAC.
Included in the assembly:
1. UV lamps, Qty: (2)
2. Surf X sachet container, attached to
wall of exhaust outlet on Pathogen
models, shipped loose with
ethylene control models.

Unpacking your ClensAir™
Air Sanitation System
Unwrap the UV lamps
(Do not touch the lamp
glass with bare hands,
as oil from the skin
will adhere to surface
causing hot spots and
premature lamp failure).

Unwrap the
titanium dioxide
coated tube and
insert it into the
two clips in the
bottom of the
lamp box.
The ClensAir™factory has
taken all possible precautions
to prevent damage to your
system during shipping. In
the rare case of damage to
the unit or power cord, please
contact us immediately before
plugging in and using the unit.
The ultraviolet lamps are packaged in protective foam wrapping,
located inside the unit.
Do not discard the packing materials until the unit is running properly.
Install the lamps between the two holders, holding the spring
loadedonebackuntilthelamptsinbetweenthetwo.

NOTE: On ethylene models, the dispenser is shipped loose.
Simply clip it on the outside of the exhaust grill, in the center.
Place the cover on top
of the box, being careful
to match the gasket to
the pattern of the box.
Pressdownrmlyuntil
the cover edges are
completely over the
corners of the box.
Using a straight blade screwdriver, turn the six fasteners as
shown on the lid to lock the lid securely in place.
5Position the ClensAir™
unit in the desired
location and plug in
the power cord. The
red power switch
light will illuminate
indicating that the
unit is plugged in and
power is available.
Remove the Surf X
sachet from its foil
packet, and place in
the dispenser located
in front of the VOC /
OdorControllters.

Installation Locations
Install the ClensAir™unit as central in the room as possible, not close
totheoororcorners.Preferableplacementshouldbetowardthe
ceiling, allowing enough clearance for the air to circulate freely.
The intake end should face the
sourceofairow.Shelfunits
for wall mounting are available
as with the ClensAir™unit.
See shelf installation guide for
specicinstructions.
Be sure walls are strong enough
to support the weight of the unit. When suspended from a ceiling, the
hardwareshouldbeofsucientstrengthtosupporttheunitaswell.

Press the lower part of the power switch on and the unit will
begin functioning. You can now start enjoying cleaner air!

Operation Features
The hour meter will accumulate
total time the unit has run. It will
not operate if the unit is only
plugged in, but not turned on.
ThelterIndicatorwilldisplayacolumnofgreenandred
LED’s,indicatingtheconditionoftheintakelters.
Asthegreenlightsrise,thelterisholdingmoreparticulate
matter. The more it accumulates, the green lights will rise
untiltheredLED’silluminate,indicatinglterchangetime.

The single green and red LED’s measure hours of UV lamp
operation.Thelampslosetheireciencyat10,000hours
and should be replaced.
At 8,000 hours, the red and green LED’s will alternate on and
o,indicatingUVlampchangeisapproaching.

At10,000hours,thegreenlightwillbeoand the red light will
ashcontinuously.
To indicate that the timer is working, the green light is on
continuously for 50 seconds. It then goes out, and the red
light comes on for 2 seconds. The green light will then blink
three sequences of three blinks, then stay on for another 50
seconds. This sequence occurs anytime the UV lamps are on.

When the lamps are replaced, the reset button located
in the intake chamber should be pressed and held for
10 seconds to reset the timer.

Care and Maintenance
Your ClensAir™unit has been carefully designed to require minimal
attention while providing years of dependable service.
Be sure to disconnect the power to the unit before performing
any maintenance to prevent injury! There is 110 volt AC power
present in the unit!
Do not override the safety interlock switches! Exposure to the
Ultraviolet rays are harmful to the eyes and skin!
VOC / Odor Control Filters
TheVOC/Odorcontrolltersaredesignedforprolongedlife,
and only need to be replaced if they become plugged with dust.
Antimicrobial Filter
Tomaintainecacyofthislter,changeitevery12monthsor
earlier as needed.*
*This will only occur if the intake lters are not changed regularly, or
the unit is run without them in place. Regular servicing of the intake
particulate lter extends the life of the carbon honeycomb elements.

Surface Contamination Prevention Filter (Surf X sachet)
Change to a fresh packet every 90 days.
The Surf X sachet should be replaced every 3 months to maintain
ecacy.Simplyremovethesachetfromthedispenserwprovided
with each new ClensAir™unit. A dispenser that houses them is in
the exhaust compartment. Open the case, take out and dispose
the spent packet. Unwrap the new packet and put in place of the
old one, close the case. Repeat every 90 days. Replacements
may be purchased from your ClensAir™dealer.

Intake particulate air lter
Change as required as indicated by the Filter Minder on the
controlpanel.Thegreenlightswillappearandriseaslter
restriction increases. When the red lights appear, it is time to
changethelter(occurringaboutevery3months).
Tochangethetwointakelters,particulateand
antimicrobial, remove the lid from the box by loosening
the ¼ turn fasteners.

Ultraviolet lamps and reflective chamber
After 8,000 hours, the green and red light alternate. At 10,000
hours, the red light only will blink, signaling the lamps need to be
changed.
To change the lamps, remove the lid of the enclosure. Wearing
gloves, carefully retract the spring loaded lamp holder and remove
each lamp. Using a clean, lint-free cotton cloth, wipe the four
reectivesurfaceswithdenaturedalcoholtoremoveanylmor
dust. Install new lamps, being careful not to touch the lamp glass
with bare hands.
The used lamps, like uorescent lamps, contain small amounts of
mercury and must be disposed of properly!

To remove the UV lamps, depress the spring loaded
lamp holder to release each lamp. Install the new
lamps, being careful not to touch the glass with bare
hands, the same way.

2If your hands ever come in contact with the UV lamps,
wipe them down with a soft cloth and denatured alcohol.
Oil from the skin will adhere to surface and may cause
premature lamp failure.
Shouldthereectiveplatesinthelampchambergetdirty,
carefully remove the UV lamps and stainless steel tube.
Use a clean soft cloth and denatured alcohol to gently
wipe them down; then, replace the lamps and tube.
