0.5mawayfromthestoveinan
uprightposition.(Fig. 8)
• OnlyuseLPGgas.
• Forsafetyreasons,thecontrol
/ignitionknobsaredesigned
tooperateinanti-clockwise
rotation.
• Intheeventofaburnback(i.e.wherethegasburnsback
ontothejet),turnoffthestoveandlightagain.Shouldthe
problempersist,taketheunitbacktoyourdealertobe
checked.
• Turnthestoveoffattheswitchcontrols
• Disconnecttheregulatorandwaitforthestovetocool
down(±30minutes)
• Ifonrelighting,theproblemreoccurs,gettheunit
checkedbyanauthorisedservicedealer
• Alwayscheckthattheregulatorsealisinplaceandingood
condition.Alwaysensurethatthehoseclampsaretightened
andinplace.Alwaysensurethatthehosedoesnotshow
anysignsofwear.Ifindoubtpleaseconsultyourdealer.
SETTING UP YOUR COOKER
1. Conrmthatyouhavetheright
modelforyourtypeofgas
supply.
2. Whenunpacking,makesure
thatallofthepartsofthegas
cookerareincluded.Assemble
thepartsasshowninFig. 9.
3. Placethegascontrolknob
ontothegascockaxisand
pushitinwards.(Fig. 10)

4. Attachthe4plasticfeettothe
cookerbyturningthecooker
upsidedownandscrewing
themontothelegsonthe
cookerbottom.(Fig.11)
5. Pushthehoseoverthehose
nippleuntilitisfullyengaged.
Tightenproperlywiththehose
endclamp.(Fig.12)
6. Ensurethattheburnercontrol
valvesareOFFbyturningthe
knobsfullyclockwisetothe
OFFposition.
7. Setthepotstandsontothe
stoveframe.Thesmaller
roundburnerportshouldface
upwards.
8. Placethepot/panholderson
topoftheburner.
9. PerformtheLEAKTEST.

designed for use with
a 2.8 kPa SANS 1237
regulator with SANS
1156-2 or BS3212-
2 approved hose.
Using any other type
of regulator or hose is
extremely dangerous.

LEAK TEST
Theleaktestmustbecarriedoutinawell-ventilatedarea,free
fromanyamesorothersourcesofignition.
• Withthecylinderconnectedto
thestove.Openthecylinder
valve.
• Brushtheconnections(stove
tocylinder)withasolutionof
equalpartssoapandwater
(makesureit’sfoamy).
• Astreamofbubblesforming
indicatesagasleak.(See
Fig.14)
• Ifbubblesappear,turnthe
cylindervalveOFF(clockwise)
anddisconnectthestovefrom
thegascylinder.
• Tightentheconnectionand
retrytheleaktest.
• Ifyouareunsureorifyou
cannottightentheconnection,
placethecylinderoutsideina
cool,well-ventilatedareaand
contactAlvaon086 100 ALVA
(2582).
• Aleakbetweenthestoveand
cylindercanleadtoahigh
pressurere,whichisvery
dangerousandcanresultin
extensiveinjuryorevendeath.
FITTING AND CHANGING THE GAS CYLINDER
1. Beforeconnectingtheappliancetoagascylinder,
alwaysensurethattherubbersealontheRegulatorisin
positionandingoodcondition,andblowoutanydustfrom
thecylinderopeningtopreventpossibleblockageofthejet.
2. Ensurethatthegascylinderisttedorchangedinawell-
ventilatedlocation,preferablyoutdoors,awayfromany
sourceofignition,suchasnakedamesandawayfrom
otherpeople.
3. Makesurethatthegascylinderiskeptuprightatalltimes,
screwtheregulatorontothecylinderuntilitisfullyengaged.
Hand-tightenonly.

4. Neverstorethecylinderonastovesurface.Itisbest
practicetostoreitontheoorinapositionwhereitcannot
betamperedwith.
5. Ifthereisaleakonyourappliance(smellofgas),takeit
outsideimmediatelyintoawell-ventilatedamefreelocation
wheretheleakmaybedetectedandstopped.
6. Whenremovingagascylinder(e.g.tochangecylinders),
rstlyclosethecylindervalveandthentheappliancevalve,
makingsuretheameisextinguished,beforeunscrewing
theregulator.Re-ttheregulatortoafullcylinderfollowing
thesameprecautionsasabove.
USING THE COOKER
1. Tolighttheburners:
• Openthecylindervalve
1½turns.(SeeFig.15)
• Openthemaingasvalve,
pushthegascontrolknob
inandturnittowards
theOn/Maxposition
(counter-clockwise)
untilyouheartheignition
click.Makesurethatthe
burnerhasbeenlit.(Fig.
15)inthisposition,the
doubleburnerwilllightup
boththesmallandlarge
burners.
• Toadjusttheamesize,
setthegascontrolknob
toasuitableposition
betweenMAX(fullame
size)andMINposition
(smallamesize).
2. Airowadjustment:
Theburnerusuallyneedsno
airowadjustment.Ifitshould
everburnimproperly,the
airowcanbecontrolledby
adjustingtheairdamperinside
thegascooker(underthe
controlknob)(Fig.16).Afterthe
gashasbeenignited,adjust
theairdamperuntilslightly
rounded,vigorousblueames
appear.(Fig.17,18)

3. Toturntheburnersoff:
Turnthegascontrolknobs
backtotheOFFpositionuntil
youhearaclick.Makesure
theburnersareoutandturnoff
themaingascylindervalveas
well.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
• Beforecaringfor,orcleaningyourcooker,makesurethat
themaingasvalveisinan“OFForclosed”position,andthe
stovecontrolknobsareinthe“OFF”position.Ifthestoveis
stillhot,waitforittocooldownbeforecleaning.
• Ensurethattherearenosignsofblockage(eg.debris,
insects,etc)ineithertheburnerportholes,theprimaryair
inletortheneckofcastironburners.Usecompressedairor
pipecleanerwiretoclearobstructions.Acopperwirebrush
canbeusedtoremovecorrosionfromtheburnersurfaces.
Brushitafterwardslightlywithcookingoiltopreventthe
formationofrustwhilestoring.
WERECOMMENDTHATTHISSHOULDBEDONEAFTER
EVERYCOOKINGSESSIONINCOASTALAREAS.
Takingcareofyourstovewillprolongit’slifespan.
• Checkthegashoseregularlyforwearorleaks.Itmustbe
replacedoccasionally.Keepitawayfromheatsourcesand
keepitclean.
• Wipethestainlesssteeltopandbodywithadrycloth.Ifitis
difculttoclean,usesoapywaterandthendrythoroughly
withadrycloth.
• Removetheburnersintheoppositesequencetoinstall-
ingthem(Partsareinterchangeable).Replacetheburners
againoncecleanedandthoroughlydried.
• Washthepotholderinwateranddrythoroughlybefore
replacing.
