normal
for your
amplifier

quite
warmandto radiate
heatwheninuse,especiallyifitisrunnearfull
power.
However,if it becomestoohotto touch,
switchoffatonceandcontact
your
dealer.
It is very importantthat there is adequate
ventilationforthewholeof theamDlifier.
Donot
place
theunitona rugorothersoftsurfacethat
it
couldsinkinto,obstructingtheair
inletson its
underside,andtakecarenottoobstruct
theoutlet
grille
onthetopcover.

FRONT
PANELCONTROLS
POWERSWITCH
The amplifier
rs turnedon by depressing
the
power switch. The small indicatorabove the
switch will glow green. Before switching on,
always set the volume controlto minimumto
avoid
damagetoyour
loudspeakers.
Note:YourAMCamplifier
will
play
musicalmost
immediatelyafterbeingswitchedon. However
,
in
common wrth other audiophile products,the
rnternal
circuitstake sometime to stabilizefully,
andthe best
possible
sound
quality
maynotbe
obtaineduntil
the amplifierhas had sometime
(possibly
anhour
ortwo)towarmup.
INFRARED
RECEIVER
The infrared
receiverfor receivingthe infra-red
srgnalsfrom
your
remotehandset.
PHONES
The headphone socket will accept any
headphones
fitted
with
a standard1/4"(635mm)
stereo
jackplug.
WhenHeadphones
arein use,
the output will be cut and all the amp[fier
functionswill
operate
asnormal.
BALANCE
CONTROL
TheBalan:eControladjusts
therelativelevels
of
the leftand right
channels.

made.
A detentatthe
12o'clock
position
marks the point of equal balance.
Rotationof the Balance Control to the right
(clockwise)decreases
the level
of the leftchannel
sothat
onlytherightchannel
isheard. Rotation
to the left shifts
the sonicimagetowardthe left
soeaker.
Adjustthe Balance
Control
to produce
a natural
spread
of soundacross
the spacebetweenthe
speakers,
withany
monophonic
sound
(such
asa
radio
announcer's
voice)appearing
asa phantom
image
centered
midway
betweenthem.
Recordings
oftencontain
smallerrorsin channel
balance,typicallyno morethan2dB;but
thisis
enough to degrade stereo imaging. Small
compensatingchanges in the setting of the
Balance
Controlcan significantly
improvethe
depth
andstability
ofthestereoimage.
DIRECTSWITCH
When
thisbuttonis
pressed
the
Bass
andTreble
circuits are completely bypassed, restoring
precisely
flat frequency response. When this
buttonispressed
again,the switch
willbe turned
off, the tone controls operate normally. By
adjusting
the tone controlsand then switching
them in and out of the signal
path,you can
evaluatetheir
effectonthesound.
BASSCONTROL
TheBass
Control
adjuststhe relatrvelevelof the
low frequencies
in the sound. The electrical
resoonseof the amolifieris flattestwhen the
controlissetinthedetentor 12o'clock
position.
Rotationof the knob to the right (clockwise)
increases
thelevelof lowfrequency
sounds,and
rotation
counter-clock-wisedecreases
theirlevel.
