5. User manual smoke detector
- Battery powered with 9V
- Own signal generator
- Optoelectronic sensor
- Wireless range approximately 150 m in the open
- Test button
- Visual and audible indication when battery replacement is required
The minimum equipment of smoke detectors required are in the nursery, sleeping area
and hallway. An optimum is if every room is equipped with a smoke detector.
Mounting location
Smoke detectors shall be installed on the ceiling, preferably in the middle of the
room. Minimum distance to a wall = 50 cm.
In L-shaped rooms, the smoke detector should be installed in the middle. For
larger rooms, each section is about how a separate room consider.
Rooms divided by a ceiling or furniture should be protected by smoke detectors in
every part.
In open connections to multiple levels should be installed at least one smoke
detector at every level.

In rooms with ceiling falls to 20cm, the smoke detector can be mounted on the
fall. In rooms with ceiling falls over 20cm on both sides should be a smoke
detector.
Smoke detectors in hallways and corridors: With a max. width of 3m the allowed
distance between two smoke detectors is max. 15 m. The distance from one end
of the corridor or passage to the other must not exceed 7.5m.
Smoke detectors in draughty points: to avoid that the smoke does not reach the
smoke detectors, they must not be installed near climate and ventilation
openings.
Assembly of the magnetic pads
The above example shows you the way of mounting our smoke detector without drilling.
For this, you take the smoke detector and connect it with the magnetic pad to the ceiling.
The Magnet Pad should be glued offset to the ceiling mount so that it is located under the
test button. This has the advantage, that the smoke detector is stable on the magnetic
holder when pressing the test button.

Important Note:
Smoke detectors provide an early warning of smoke or fire, so that the residents can
response early and leave immediately and call the fire department. Smoke detectors
neither prevent the occurrence of fires nor do they fight it automatically; they also alert
the fire department neither directly nor any assisting agency. They are also do not alert
the user (lessee, tenant, etc.) on the other apartments, neighbors, etc. Smoke detectors
are not intended to prevent fire damage and they cannot actually prevent, in particular,
when no one is present in case of fire.
Usage
Smoke detectors, applied as described in the standard DIN EN 14604 will be able to work
both as an individual detector as well as with other smoke detectors in an network. A
network requires special detectors, such as those used in professional fire alarm
systems; they are only delivered with a professional fire panel. In the case of networking
the smoke alarm by radio signals, the audible alarm gets to all other smoke detectors
within the network or to a central location. It is possible to integrate optical or vibration
signals (e.g. for the Deaf).
An intrusion of smoke detectors, including those with wireless networking, a fire alarm
system and the use of smoke detectors as a "substitute" for one of insurance or
supervision required fire alarm system is not permitted and leads to criminal and civil
liability, insurance law in the loss of Insurance coverage and building authorities may
possibly additionally as a regulatory penalties, linked to a retrofit edition.
Important Note:
Under "areas with apartment similar purposes" means the standard "rooms or group of
rooms with similar structures as apartments“. These include for example hotels, with less

than 12 guest beds, container rooms, leisure accommodations or similar if for this
building is no other requirement for fire protection equipment necessary.
Planning / Installation
Only the use of smoke detectors in accordance with DIN EN 14604 is permitted. When
installing a smoke detector per room it is sufficient if this space not larger than 60 square
meters; in larger rooms more smoke detectors are required.
The minimum equipment in accordance with DIN 14676 smoke detectors are to install in
the bedroom and Children's rooms and in the hallways (escape routes).
An optimum is to have smoke detectors also in living and hobby rooms, heating- and
work rooms and attic.
In stairwells or rooms with a gallery is at least to install one smoke detector on the top of
the floor. Better, however, would be a smoke detector on each level. In the kitchen,
smoke detectors are to be installed when false alarms, e.g. by water vapor can be
excluded. For this reason also bathrooms must not be equipped with smoke detectors.
We recommend to install in all rooms a smoke detector (except kitchen and bathroom)
on every level.
Installation
Smoke detectors are always to be mounted on the ceiling in the center of the room, at
least 50 cm away from the wall or from home furnishings.
For special cases, such as L-shaped or divided spaces see the point “Mounting location”
above.
Important Security Note
If the alarm should be in another room except the room in which the detector is installed
as if the triggering alarm in the nursery takes place and that you also alert in the master
bedroom, a small alarm panel is recommended.
Operation of the smoke detector
False alarms may be triggered for example by welding, soldering or sawing. In addition,
general dust during construction, water vapor and cooking vapors, extreme

electromagnetic interference and temperature fluctuations with condensation lead to
false alarms. Therefore, the standard for renovations is to cover the smoke detector.
Maintenance / Repair
For your own safety, a periodically check of the fire alarm system should be performed as
follows:
The weekly review of the LED display on the smoke detector (it must flash 1 x
all 30 - 60 seconds, depending on the model).
The smoke detector is to check according to the manual, but at least quarterly.
This includes the examination of whether the smoke inlet openings are freely accessible
and smoke detector is not damaged.
Deficiencies in these points should be removed immediately; a damaged smoke detector
must be replaced immediately.
The functional test of the smoke detector is to test the alarm by pressing the test button
or use our tester spray.
The battery change has to be with alkaline batteries within 12 months and with lithium
batteries at least every 5 years, please also if the battery has not been triggered a weak
message.
The annual cleaning of the test chamber of the smoke detector can be done with a
vacuum cleaner to remove dust in the smoke detector. In this case, put the vacuum
cleaner directly on the smoke detector in every crack and corners for 1 min.
Please use our enclosed maintenance & testing protocol to keep the maintenance status
of the fire alarm system at a glance.
Battery change
The battery should be substituted in smoke detectors at least once a year or according to
the manufacturer's instructions (e.g. if batteries with longer maturity are used).
But at the latest on the acoustic signaling of the necessary battery change.
Please choose in the view of the delivered model

In addition instructions must be provided for the mounting location, installation and
maintenance. In addition on the product must be the symbol for the CE marking and the
number of EC Certificate of Conformity. The certificate of conformity 32210 may be
requested at manufacturer.
Re-order Smoke detectors
When re-ordering smoke detectors, we would ask you, to inform us about the zone and
the smoke detector number (on the back) so that we can encode the new smoke detector
accordingly. If you are not sure, please send us a photo of your existing smoke
detectors.
If you want a different occupation of the zones than the standard assignment, then
please let us know before or during the order. In the standard, the
Zones are sequentially assigned, for example, Zone 1-5. If you want a different
occupation, for example, in Zone 1 two detectors and Zone 2 two smoke detectors then
we program one detector in Zone 3.
