Ampetronic MP101 User manual

MP101
Microphone Preamplifier
1. INTRODUCTION
The MP101 microphone preamp was designed for use with Ampetronic Induction
Loop drivers, but can be used in other installations as a separate single input pre-
amp. The unit is designed to convert microphones to line-level signals, having a
switchable gain of 40dB or 25 dB
The preamp has an electronically balanced microphone input, with a professional
XLR connector, with switchable Phantom power facility.
Power for the preamp is normally obtained from the host Ampetronic amplifier, but
the unit can be powered from a small, separate power supply, Ampetronic type
PS3.
To meet EMC specifications the power cable and the Line-level signal cable must
not be longer than 3 metres.
2. INSTALLATION
The unit can be installed anywhere as required by the user, and is often hidden
behind the equipment as there are no controls. It can also be installed in a fixed
position on the rear edge of the RM1U rackmount tray.
3. GAIN / PHANTOM SELECTION.
The adjacent drawing indicates where the switches are positioned on the panel.
Normal gain is 25 dB, boost is 40 dB. Phantom voltage is +15 Volt.
