1. COMPONENTS
WARNING
Storage:
- Do not expose the device to excessive heat or cold. This device must be stored at a temperature of between -30°C and +80°C, and its operating
temperature range is between -20°C and +70°C. Its maximum humidity is RH90%.
- Never use this device in environments with excessive humidity, dust or smoke.
- Avoid dropping or knocking the device.
- Never pierce, scratch or use abrasive cleaning products on this device.
- Never place cables where they can be crushed or stepped on.
Operating precautions
- The device can be powered using a 12V or 24V car battery or a vehicle electrical system.
- Incorrectly connecting the electrical system or power supply will damage the sensor and the control unit.
- The system tests and inspections described in these instructions and a report of the results must be included in the daily maintenance report.
Units on vehicles in operation must be tested every day before the vehicle begins operation. The results of this test must be recorded in the
maintenance log.
- The radar detection system is designed to be used on light commercial vehicles and mechanical equipment. Proper installation requires good
understanding of the vehicle/machine’s electrical systems and procedures, as well as complete understanding of the installation process.
Warning:
- Do not open the unit. This may result in damage, short circuits or electric shocks that may cause serious injury or death.
- The equipment is not an alternative to safe driving practices.
- The wire left loose on cable E must be insulated to avoid short circuits.

NB: The radar system can operate with analogue or HD video equipment. However, equipment type cannot be mixed (e.g. an HD camera with an
analogue monitor).

• Trigger input (reversing detector activated)
Also make sure to connect the monitor’s priority input. The vehicle must deliver +12 or +24 volts via the white wire when
placed in reverse gear. It connects to the reversing light’s positive supply wire and allows the radar detection system to be
activated (audible warning in the cab, visual warning displayed on the monitor, and external alarm if this option has been
connected).
•Alarm output
The system provides an auxiliary output that triggers an external device every time the sensor detects an object. This output
can be used to activate an external backup alarm or a warning light. The output is switched to a high earth impedance state
when it is activated and is protected against overcurrents and short circuits. The maximum operating current is around
1 amp. The alarm supply cannot exceed 24V.

INSTALLING THE SENSOR
OBJECT DETECTION MODEL
Take care when mounting the radar sensor as it is important to ensure the product operates correctly.
The sensor must be installed centrally on the rear of the vehicle at around 1 m (+/- 0.3 m) above ground level
and must be angled upwards by 5°. It can be horizontally angled with a silicone mounting support.
Important: Check the sensor’s mounting position before beginning the installation on the vehicle. Temporarily
attach the sensor to the intended mounting position, switch the system on and ensure that nothing is detected.

RADAR SYSTEM ALERTS
3. USE
The system informs the driver when an object is detected
via visual and audible alerts. When an object enters the
system’s zones, it activates a transparent visualisation
to inform the driver of the potential danger. The distance
from the object is indicated via five coloured zones on the
monitor. The distance corresponding to each zone and the
detection threshold can be customised.
The buzzer provides an audible warning in the form of a
“beep” that becomes more intense as an object approaches
to warn the driver that an object has been detected. The
monitor’s internal buzzer can also provide an audible
warning.

NB:
The radar uses the principle of line of sight and works on the basis that part of the electromagnetic energy
emitted by the sensor is reflected off the object back to the sensor. If an object does not reflect enough
electromagnetic energy back to the sensor, it will not be detected. If there are multiple objects in the detection
zone at different distances and/or angles, the sensor detects the closest object, which is the most important for
avoiding collisions. The nature, position and direction of the object are key factors in whether or not an object
is detected. The factors influencing detection are listed below:
-Size: objects with larger surface areas are easier to detect than objects with smaller surface areas.
-Material: metal is easier to detect than non-metallic material (e.g. wood, plastic).
-Surface: a smooth, solid surface is easier to detect than rough, uneven, porous, fragmented or liquid surfaces
(e.g. bushes, gravel, water).
-Shape: a flat object is easier to detect than an object with a complex shape.
-Angle: an object directly facing the sensor (perpendicular to the sensor and facing it) is easier to detect than
an object at the edges of the detection zone or at an angle.
-Distance: an object closer to the sensor is easier to detect than an object that is further away.

Connecting to the control unit
- Press the Wi-Fi button to begin searching
- The control unit’s name starts with “MSRADAR”. The Wi-Fi button lights up following successful pairing.
- Connection takes place automatically if the default password is not changed.
If the Android version being used is 6.0 or lower, location settings must be activated.
Some Android versions are not capable of connecting automatically (e.g. version 4.0).
If the Wi-Fi connection fails, you can use the manual connection process:
- Click “Manuel connect” (Manual connect) and then click “suivant” (next) to connect.
- Find the name of the control unit, “MSRADAR”, and enter the default password, “88888888”.
- To set a new password, click “change wifi password”

3. USE
Configuring the detection zone
After connecting the control unit, click the settings button. The current
configuration is then displayed below.
You can display the distances detected on the monitor by ticking the
“Show Distance” box.
Detecting zone parameters
The detection zones and width settings are indicated under the vehicle
model. Each number represents the distance the zone covers. The closest
zone is red, the second and third zones are yellow, and the two most
distant zones are green. Only one row of numbers is displayed if you
deselect “Second Sensor Valid”. Three detection zones can be defined
when the two most distant zones are set to 0.
Width of the sensor zone
Set the width of the detection zone as in the image to the left. This
configuration is not available on type 1 sensors. The value you enter
is half the width of the detection zone. The total width is double the
value.
Download configuration data to the control unit
Ensure that the app is connected. Once all required configuration elements are selected, all settings can be
transmitted to the control unit. Click the “ENREGISTRER” (SAVE) button and it will download the configuration
data to the control unit. Once the configuration has been downloaded, a “Set success” message will be
displayed.
Updating the system
Place the installation file with the .jic file extension at the following path: radar / update / xxx.jic. If you do not
have these folders, you must create new folders called “radar” and “update” in the base directory. Go back
to the app home page and click “Mettre à jour” (Update). Select the code file (.jic) to update the control unit
system. A progress bar and percentage completion indicator will appear during the update. Do not switch off
the power during the update or the control unit will fail, resulting in improper functioning. A success window
displays when the update is complete.

at the top.

4. TECHNICAL ADVICE
EQUIPMENT TESTING
A movement test must be conducted every day to ensure the proper operation of the system and to familiarise
the operator with the detection zone. More frequent inspections must be conducted when:
- The vehicle is operating in a particularly dirty or difficult environment.
- The operator has reason to suspect the system has been damaged.
This test must be conducted by two people, one of whom remains in the cab (the operator), with the other
walking in the sensor’s field of detection (the assistant).
1. Clean the front of the sensor from any accumulated dirt, mud, snow, ice or debris.
2. Visually inspect the wiring and the attached cables and ensure that they are properly attached and not
damaged. Inspect the radar sensor and the control unit and ensure they are securely attached to the vehicle.
3. Apply the parking brakes, start the vehicle, press and hold the vehicle brake and put the vehicle in
reverse gear.
4. The area to the rear of the vehicle must be free of obstacles over a distance greater than the sensor’s range.
If the monitor displays a superimposed image or the buzzer is triggered, then there are objects to the rear of
the vehicle that are interfering with the test. Move the vehicle to an open area and continue.
5. The assistant should stand just behind the rear corner of the vehicle, visible by the operator in the rear view
mirrors. They should then walk towards the vehicle’s centre line, parallel to the rear, while the operator notes
when the monitor displays a superimposed image and an audible warning sounds, indicating that the sensor
has detected the object.
6. The assistant should continue to walk in the area behind the vehicle while the operator notes the area in
which the assistant is detected.
7. Then, starting from the centre of the rear of the vehicle, walk away from the vehicle. When the buzzer stops
sounding or the superimposed image disappears, the detection limit has been reached.
8. The assistant should cover the entire rear of the vehicle while the operator notes the detection limits of the
entire coverage zone.
9. After the test, the operator and the assistant must record the details of the detection zone.
