3. Connect Output Zones
The RemoteLink AV three independent output zones, the A/V Zone, which can play video and audio content, and two
Audio Output Zones, which can play audio content only.
A/V Zone
HDMI
The HDMI output allows connection to most modern displays. Because the distance between the player and the
display varies widely from one installation to the next, NO HDMI CABLE IS PROVIDED. AMTC offers a wide variety
of HDMI cables, as well as splitters to allow the HDMI signal to appear on multiple displays and signal boosters to
allow long HDMI cable runs. Contact your Account Executive for more information.
AUDIO OUT
The HDMI signal contains both video and audio. If you need the audio to be heard only on the speaker of your
display, no additional connection is necessary. If you wish to route the audio channel from the A/V Zone to the
amplifier of your overhead sound system, an audio output connector is provided. NOTE: This output is line level (not
amplified), and will not be audible if connected to a speaker without its own amplifier.
Connection to an external amplifier:
Connect the 3.5mm mono male connector of one of the provided 6-ft. audio cables, and the RCA male connector into
an RCA female auxiliary input of the amplifier. If the auxiliary input is a 3.5mm female connector, use the provided
audio adapter to convert the RCA male connector of the provided audio cable to a 3.5mm mono male connector. On
some older amplifiers the auxiliary input is a 1/4” (6.3mm) mono female connector. In this case, you will need a
different audio adapter to convert the RCA male connector of the provided audio cable to a 1/4” (6.3mm) mono male
connector:
These are available at no charge by contacting AMTC Customer Support. If you are not sure what kind of connectors
you have or require, see illustrations below.
Audio Zone 1/Audio Zone 2
LINE OUT
These outputs are intended for connection to an external amplifier, and will not be audible if connected to a speaker
without its own amplifier. Instructions for connection to an external amplifier are contained in the previous section.
AMP OUT
These outputs are amplified for compatibility with phone system “music on hold” inputs, and may also be used to
power a small 8 ohm speaker load without needing an amplifier. In order to connect the audio output to a phone
system, the phone system must be capable of playing music/messaging on hold (MOH). Nearly every business
telephone system made in the past 20 years has this capability. The method for connecting the player to the phone
system varies by manufacturer and model. IMPORTANT! If your phones are not connected to a central “control box”
(a.k.a. KSU, or Key Service Unit), you will need a special adapter to give you MOH capability. Call AMTC Customer
Support for information about this adapter.
IF YOU ALREADY HAVE MESSAGING ON HOLD (MOH)
Take the path of least resistance! Your RemoteLink AV player connects to your phone system exactly the same way
as any other music on hold source. If you currently have a radio or CD/tape player playing on hold, it’s probably
connected with a cable plugged into its headphone output connector. This cable probably has a 3.5mm mono male
connector on the end, which is the type of output connectors used on the RemoteLink AV player. Simply remove this
connector from the radio or CD/tape player headphone connector and plug it into an AMP OUT connector of the
RemoteLink AV player. If the cable from the phone system is plugged into an RCA female connector on the radio or

AMTC RemoteLink AV Digital Media Player Installation and Operation Guide 11/07/2016 Page 11
CD/tape player, use the provided audio adapter to convert the RCA male connector of the to a 3.5mm mono male
connector. If you are not sure what kind of connectors you have or require, see illustrations below.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE MOH CONNECTED TO YOUR PHONE SYSTEM:
Connect the 3.5mm mono male connector of one of the provided 6 ft. audio cables to an AMP OUT connector. The
other end of the audio cable must be connected to the phone system MOH input, which is typically located on the
KSU. The cable comes with an RCA male connector, because RCA female is the most common type of MOH input
connector found on phone systems. If your phone system has a 3.5mm mono female connector, use the provided
audio adapter to convert the RCA male connector of the to a 3.5mm mono male connector. Other possible MOH
input connection types you may encounter on your phone system:
Screw Terminals
Cut the RCA male connector off of one of the provided audio cables. Carefully strip back approximately 1.5” of the
vinyl outer jacket of the cable. Inside you will see fine strands of copper wire surrounding an inner vinyl-jacketed wire.
Pull these strands away from the inner vinyl-coated wire and twist them together to form a larger single wire. Then,
strip approximately 1” of the vinyl jacket from the inner wire, and twist the strands of copper wire found inside together
to form another larger, single wire. Loosen the two screws labeled as the MOH input, loop each wire over a screw,
and then tighten the screws again. It is not important which wire goes to which screw.
Terminal Strips (a.k.a. 66 blocks or punch-down strips)
These are not actually part of the KSU, but are rectangular plastic bars approximately 2” x 10” with rows of metal
prongs, by which the phone lines and extensions connect to the phone system. Some phone systems receive their
MOH input by attaching (punching down) to two rows on these terminal strips. Unless the original phone system
installer was thoughtful enough to clearly label the proper rows “MOH” or “MUSIC,” you probably cannot tell where to
connect. Even if clearly labeled, proper attachment requires a special tool. A professional telephone system
technician will probably be required to connect your player.
Connector types:
RCA Male 3.5mm Mono Male
RCA Female 3.5mm Mono Female
i. LEVEL

AMTC RemoteLink AV Digital Media Player Installation and Operation Guide 11/07/2016 Page 12
Allows you to adjust the output level of both the LINE OUT and AMP OUT connections, using the
small Phillips screwdriver provided.
ii. Make connections as follows:
To a sound system:
4. Connect External Audio
The RemoteLink AV may be used in conjunction with an external music source. Used in this mode, the player
periodically mutes the external music source, plays an audio or video file, and then restores the external music source
to its previous level. The player will repeat this process using all of the files in its memory, and then return to the
beginning of the files and repeat the process. The duration of the interval between files is set via the Portal.
If an external music source will be used, connect an audio cable from the external music source to the player’s AUDIO
IN connector in the area labeled EXTERNAL AUDIO using a 3.5mm mono male connector.
LEVEL allows you to adjust the input level of the external audio source, using the small Phillips screwdriver provided.
5. Connect Power
Connect the provided power adapter to a wall outlet and to the connector labeled 12VDC 2A. Avoid using any circuit
that is also powering any heavy equipment or appliances, particularly air conditioners, microwaves or refrigeration
equipment. We highly recommend that you use a quality surge protection device to protect your player. The
STATUS lights will turn green showing it has access to the internet. NOTE: No action is required in the event of a
power failure. The player’s internal memory will not lose its contents. When power is restored, the player will resume
its operation.
Assuming your audio output connection(s) is(are) correct, when you connect power you should hear a small boot
jingle. Soon the player will start playing your selected content. If you have connected through HDMI to a monitor you
will see the AMTC logo, followed player boot status:
.
If the described sequence does not occur, you will need to connect a monitor to the HDMI port.
Activation
To activate your player, log into your AMTC account. In the Media Players section of the Devices tab, locate your
player. A hollow green circle should appear to the far right side of the player’s row on the grid, which indicates that

AMTC RemoteLink AV Digital Media Player Installation and Operation Guide 11/07/2016 Page 13
the player is “Ready to Activate”. Double-click anywhere on the player’s grid row to open a detail screen. Click
“Activate”. Your player will immediately be activated. Within minutes, it will begin to play the content you have
selected via your account on the AMTC Customer Portal. If you have not made any selections for any zone, you will
be prompted to do so by a message on the display and an audio message.

Operation
Selecting Content
The RemoteLink AV is a powerful and flexible player. Selection of audio and video content for each of the player’s
output zones, as well as management of a variety of settings, is done via your account on the AMTC Customer Portal.
Use of the Portal is outside the scope of this guide, but is covered by video tutorials found in the Resource Center of
the AMTC Customer Portal. If you have difficulty, consult the Portal support section or call AMTC Customer Support.
Your RemoteLink AV automatically connects to (“polls”) our servers when it initializes (powers on), and then every
time it completes the playing of a file in any output zone. Each time it polls, it downloads configuration files that
instruct the player what to do, which instructions reflect your selections and settings in Portal. Therefore, any changes
you make on Portal take effect in nearly “real time”.
