GENERAL INFORMATION
These antennas generally measure 6.1" (155 mm) in width,
2.8" (71mm) in depth; and range fr m 12" t 72" (305 t
1,829 mm) in length. Each antenna is supplied with either a
DB390 (Figure 1) r DB390-3 standard m unting kit. The
DB390 kit c nsists f tw identical galvanized pipe clamps
and hardware; whereas, the DB390-3 kit includes a third pipe
clamp and additi nal hardware f r antennas requiring three
brackets. These assembled clamps can be used n r und
members measuring 1-1/4 inches (31.8 mm) t 5-1/2 inches
(139.7 mm) O.D. r n angle members measuring up t
2.5" (63.5 mm) n a side.
Opti nal ffset kits (DB391 r DB391-3) are available and
can be rdered separately, pr viding enhanced cable clear-
ance f r antennas that have c nnect rs n the back. C n-
tact an Andrew representative f r m re inf rmati n n the
DB391 (Figure 6) r DB391-3 ffset kits.
Opti nal d wntilt kits r a wall variable-azimuth kit can als
be rdered separately fr m Andrew. D wntilt kits designed
f r these antennas are the DB5098, a standard d wntilt kit,
and DB5099, an extended range d wntilt kit. These d wntilt
kits include an angle indicat r n the l wer m unting bracket.
DB5094-AZ, pti nal wall variable-azimuth kit, ffers +45°
t -45° azimuth r tati n t minimize clearance fr m the wall.
DB5094-AZ can be used in c njuncti n with the DB5098 r
DB5099 d wntilt kits.
Detailed installati n instructi ns are supplied with the
DB5098, DB5099, and DB5094-AZ pti nal kits.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Rem ve the antenna and hardware fr m the ship-
ping b x and inspect it f r physical damage.
2. Inspect the antenna feed c nnect r t ensure that it
mates with the transmissi n line.
3. Check the labels n the back f the antenna and verify
that the frequency range t which the antenna has been
tuned matches the frequency range f the stati n equip-
ment.

DB860, DB920, DB930, DB950, DB960, DB970,
and DB980
Do not install near power lines. Power lines,
telephone lines, and guy wires look the same.
Assume any wire or line can electrocute you.
Do not install on a wet or windy day or when
lightning or thunder is in the area. Do not use
metal ladder.
Wear shoes with rubber soles and heels.
Wear protective clothing including a long-
sleeved shirt and rubber gloves.
NOTICE
The installation, maintenance, or removal of an antenna
requires qualified, experienced personnel. Andrew installation
instructions are written for such installation personnel.
Antenna systems should be inspected once a year by qualified
personnel to verify proper installation, maintenance, and
condition of equipment.
Andrew disclaims any liability or responsibility for the results

6. Using the 1-1/2" b lts,
l ck washers and nuts,
attach the assembled
bracket with tabs t the
antenna U-brackets
(Figure 2).
Note: One end of the antenna is labeled with an
"up" arrow. This end should point upward when the
antenna is mounted; this will allow the antenna's
drain hole to point downward.
7. Bring the antenna int p siti n n the t wer and se-
cure it using the brackets with ut tabs and hardware
pr vided as sh wn in Figures 2 and 3. T av id twisting
the antenna, ensure that the t p and b tt m m unting
clamps are aligned with each ther (Figure 4). Securely
tighten all hardware.
8. A check f the antenna VSWR as measured at the an-
tenna is rec mmended at this p int. N te this measure-
ment carefully and rec rd it f r future reference.
9. After checking the VSWR, the stati n transmissi n line
(n t supplied) sh uld be c nnected t the antenna us-
ing a male N-type c nnect r r a 7-16 DIN c nnect r,
depending up n the antenna m del. Make the c nnec-
ti n snug, but d n t apply heavy f rce with pliers.
10. T av id m isture pr blems, carefully wrap all c nnec-
ti ns with VAPOR-WRAP® (part n . DB11316 r
DB11317), sm thing it int the cracks and ver the
uter jacket f the transmissi n line. Failure t water-
pr f the c nnecti n will result in impr per perati n f
y ur antenna.
11. Secure the transmissi n line t the t wer in the best

12. After the antenna
and transmissi n line have
been installed, a careful vi-
sual check sh uld be made
t ensure that:
•All mechanical c nnec-
ti ns have been made and
the antenna is m unted with
sufficient physical clearance.
•The "up" arr w is p int-
ing upward and the drain
h les in the end cap are ri-
ented d wnward.
•All c nnecti ns have been
carefully wrapped t pre-
vent m isture pr blems.

plane. As a result, the antennas must be "stagger-m unted"
(i.e. each antenna sh uld be m unted appr ximately 2 inches
l wer than the ne ab ve it n the mast). See Figure 5.
DB 91 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
FOR OFFSET MOUNTING
The DB391 ffset m unting kit includes 2 bracket assem-
blies that pr vide a 4.8 inch ffset fr m the mast centerline.
This feature all ws enhanced cable clearance f r antennas
with c nnect rs l cated n the back (Figure 6). The DB391
ffset assembly can be m unted n either side f the mast
r in-line (Figure 7).
1. If the antenna has been previ usly installed with DB390
hardware, rem ve the m unting brackets fr m the an-
tenna and fr m the mast.
2. Determine which directi n f ffset is desired, r whether
the antenna is t be m unted in-line with the mast (Fig-
ure 7.)
3. F ll w the steps discussed in the INSTALLATION IN-
STRUCTIONS secti n f this instructi n sheet, using
the DB391 m unting brackets with tabs (Figure 6).
