PacketWave Base Station and Subscriber
Units InstallationInstructions
The PacketWave 1000 and 100 Series Base Station and Subscriber Units require
outdoor units, a Radio and Antenna for each Wireless Sub-System (WSS) and an
Integrated Radio/Antenna for the Subscriber Unit. On both the Base Station and
Subscriber outdoor units must be mounted and installed for proper operation. Each
Base Station Unit Antenna is connected to a Base Station Radio Unit using two RF N-
Type female connectors. For both the Base Station and Subscriber Units power and
Intermediate Frequency (IF) signals to the radio unit are supplied, through the RG-6
cable. A CAT5 E Ethernet control cable also connects the indoor unit to the outdoor
radio unit.

1. Base Station Unit Antenna Assembly and Mounting
Note: Down tilt assembly is an option.
Do not install near power lines. Power lines, telephone lines, and guy wires look the
same. Assume any wire or line can electrocute you.
Do not install on a wet orwindy day or when lightening or thunder is in the area. Do
not use metal ladder.
Wear shoes with rubber soles and heels. Wear protective clothing including a long-
sleeved shirt and rubber gloves.

Step 1.
Carefully remove contents of shipping boxes. Unpack and verify the contents. Refer
to the list below. You need all parts to assemble, install, and operate the antenna.

Step 2.
Attach bottom mount assembly to bottom mounting plate attached to the antenna as
shown. Finger tighten.
Step 3.
Attach top mount assembly to top mounting plate attached to the antenna as shown.
Finger tighten.

Step 4.
Attach antenna assembly to pole. Finger tighten.
Step 5.
Tighten all hardware.
