4 PRESENTATION OF THE SMARTLOG
4.1 CONTENTS OF THE PACKAGE
Just received your Smartlog;
The package consists of a Smartlog with its battery (not connected), optional cables used to connect your physical inputs and the USB stick
containing the Aquamonitor set-up software and this manual.
(The quantity and model of cables may vary depending on the planned sensors)
Upon receipt of your device, check the condition of the packaging and if you find something wrong, declare usage reservations to the carrier within
48 hours. If you find that something is missing or if the hardware is damaged, please contact AQUALABO immediately.

4.2 OVERVIEW OF THE SMARTLOG
EXTERIOR:
The Smartlog has 3 connectors on the rear panel. They have been printed on to clearly identify them:
Computer connection (COM)
Optional antenna connection (your Smartlog may also have an internal antenna)
Sensor connection (I/O)
IMPORTANT
If your Smartlog is fitted with an external antenna, never try to have the Smartlog send and receive if the antenna is
not connected to the product.
The product’s sealing is only guaranteed if its cover is locked to the stop and all unused connectors are covered
with their properly tightened cap.
The Smartlog comes with a base fitted a fastening screw (3 mm diameter) or a magnet .
You can separate the Smartlog from its base. To do this, hold the Smartlog turned over (connectors facing you) so as to see the fasteners connecting
the Smartlog to its base.
Hold the base firmly and turn the Smartlog clockwise until it is released from its base.
Do the reverse to lock the Smartlog on its base.

INDOOR:
To remove the upper part of the device and gain access to the inside, unscrew the lid.
Battery (The battery model may vary depending on the generation of the device. Only use batteries supplied by Aqualabo.)
Modem (The modem model may vary depending on the generation of the device.)
You can access the SIM card by removing the battery. Only standard format (2FF) SIM cards may be installed in the Smartlog.
To insert the SIM card, slide its bracket in the direction of the arrow and then lift it. Once the SIM card has been inserted proceed in reverse order
ensuring that it is correctly in position in its housing and locked.
IMPORTANT
When installing the SIM card, proceed with caution and make sure not to introduce foreign material into the device.
Every time you disconnect the battery, the Smartlog loses the current time (unless it is connected to a computer);
you will have to reset the time via its configuration software.
There is a desiccant sachet in the lower part of the housing : check the desiccant sachet which must still be in
the form of granules, a pasty consistency would indicate abnormal humidity.
Screw the lid back on, until the stop, to close the Smartlog.

5 CONNECTION AND WIRING
5.1 PRESENTATION OF INPUTS AND OUTPUTS
The Smartlog’s inputs and outputs are accessible through the I/O connector to the rear of the unit. The signals are wired to it as follows:
Pin number Colours Descriptions
1 Brown Digital input 1
2 Red Digital input 2
3 Orange Digital input 3
4 Yellow Digital input 4
5 Green 0V
6 Dark blue Power supply* analogue input
7 Purple Signal* analogue input 1
8 Grey Signal* analogue input 2 / Power supply RS485
9 White RS485 D+
10 Black RS485 D-
11 Pink Power supply digital output
12 Sky blue Signal digital output
*Wire to the 0V if not used
5.2 INPUT OUTPUT CABLE
This cable is used to connect any type of sensor (excluding pre-wired sensors).
Follow the colour code to make your various connections.
For digital inputs, use Brown, Red, Orange and Yellow to connect your information; the green wire is the shared earth for these 4 inputs.
The 2 analogue inputs are powered by the Dark Blue wire (“+” of analogue sensors); the signals have to be connected to the Purple and Grey wires
(“-” of analogue sensors). If the analogue sensors are powered by an external power supply to the Smartlog, the 0V power supply and '-' signals from
analogue sensors must be connected to the 0V of the Smartlog (green wire). The signals are then wired on the Violet and Grey wires (“+” of analogue
sensors).
It should be noted that the connection of one or more digital sensors uses the Grey wire (as well as the White and Black wires), depriving the
Smartlog of the Analogue 2 input.
Finally, the digital output uses the Pink and Sky Blue Sky wires.
IMPORTANT
If your configuration includes a pre-wired or digital sensor, they use the Smartlog inputs that can no longer be
used:
- An overflow sensor uses the ETOR2 (red wire)
- A pressure probe uses the EANA2 (grey wire)
- A level US probe uses the EANA1 (purple wire)
- The power supply of digital sensors uses the EANA2/Power supply-RS485 (grey wire)

Smartlog

5.3 Y CABLE
This cable is essential when you want to connect several sensors.
The "single" end is plugged into the Smartlog inputs/outputs connector; the "double" end is used to connect your sensors.
Specific cases:
You can also connect the overflow sensor and US probe; in this case, you will not be able to add other sensors.

Overflow sensor and I/O cable
Overflow sensor and US probe

Smartlog
- 16 -
5.4 USB CABLE
This cable connects the SmartLog to a computer; it is essential for any configuration and/or diagnosis.
IMPORTANT
To connect the cable, the Aquamonitor software must be installed on your computer.
(The cable drivers are integrated in this software)
After installing the drivers, disconnect and reconnect the cable.
After installation, it will appear in the list of devices recognised by Windows.
For Windows 7 and later:
The cable appears in Device Manager, in the subheading "Ports (COM and LTP)" under the name "PONSEL" "SENSLOG" or "SMARTLOG.
If one of these terms does not appear, your cable has been installed incorrectly; in this case the software will need to be reinstalled.
For Windows XP:
The previous terms are not in Device Manager, in the subheading "Ports (COM and LTP)", but a series extension is specified, indicating that the
cable has been managed correctly.

5.5 PRE-CABLE SENSORS AND DIGITAL PROBES
Pre-wired sensors are already equipped with a connector enabling direct connection to the I/O connector of the Smartlog or via cable Y. They are
fully compatible with your Smartlog and Aquamonitor. For example the Ponsel overflow sensor.
Code Description
MCAP/SURVERSESMLG
OVERFLOW DETECTOR FOR SMARTLOG INTERNAL BATTERY INCLUDED
The Ponsel brand's Digisens digital sensors are pre-cabled with a connector enabling direct connection to the I/O connector of the Smartlog or via
cable Y. They are fully compatible with your Smartlog and Aquamonitor.
To use a digital probe on your Smartlog it absolutely must be equipped with a communication card RS485/Modbus.
A visual inspection of the inside of the Smartlog also lets you know if your Smartlog is equipped with an RS485 card. To do this, remove the housing
cover if your Smartlog contains two cards side by side, perpendicular to the motherboard of the Smartlog, the latter is fitted with a RS485 card, if there
is only one card your Smartlog is not equipped to handle digital sensors.
