1.2 General Safety Information
General safety information concerning the Bod-Jet pilots
Watersports are fun and challenging, but involve inherent risks of injury or death. To
increase the enjoyment of the sport and to reduce the risks for the pilots, use
common sense and follow these rules.
•Only competent swimmers aged 6 years and above are allowed to use the Bod-Jet. The Bod-
Jet is not for adult use or for use. It shall be the sole responsibility of the operator to determine
whether a person is competent or not to operate the Bod-Jet.
•Due to the power output of the Bod-Jet, children under 6 years of age should not be
permitted to use the Bod-Jet. As with all motor vehicles, all persons operating the device must
do so responsibly and with proper foresight.
•All use of the Bod-Jet must be under the supervision and responsibility of the operator who
must be aged 18 or over, be a competent swimmer and who must have been fully trained to
perform their role by the operator (including as to the contents of this manual).
•The Bod-Jet is not designed for use as a swimming aid. Pilots may lose the Bod-Jet in the
water. The Bod-Jet is not a substitute for a life jacket or similar. For these reasons, pilots must
wear PPE at all times while using the Bod-Jet.
•It is technically impossible to prevent all collisions. Bod-Jet’s are not to be used as bumper
vehicles and pilots are not permitted to drive into one another.
•Use caution and common sense.
•Pilots must only wear body-hugging clothing (without loose straps or bands) when using the
Bod-Jet. In addition pilots should wear a bathing cap or hair net if hair is shoulder length or
longer. While the Bod-Jet has been designed to prevent where possible objects entering the jet
drive, it is technically impossible to fully prevent objects, in particular pieces of clothing, thin
cords or shoulder-length hair, from entering the jet drive and getting wrapped around the
propeller or drive shaft due to the high suction power of the drive. Should this occur there is a
risk of injury.
•The Bod-Jets are designed to be used on waters of varying temperatures. We recommend
that pilots are advised to wear appropriate clothing that provides adequate warmth and/or sun
protection for the waters in use.
•Take extreme care when entering and exiting the game area.
•Do not permit pilots to stand or kneel on the Bod-Jets.
•All users of the Bod-Jet, and all operator persons supervising the use of the same, must not be
under the influence of alcohol or any non prescription drug/substance not any prescription
drug/substance which would prevent them being able to safely operate or supervise the
operation of the Bod-Jet.
•Check all equipment prior to use. Bod-Jet’s must be inspected for missing, defective or worn
parts. Never use the product if excessive wear or damage are detected.

General safety information concerning the Bod-Jet board
•Never reach into the jet drive where the propeller is rotating. Bod-Jet pilots must be
supervised at all times to ensure they to do not attempt to reach into the jet drive.
•Before operation, check that the jet drive cover is not damaged in any way and is attached
correctly and firmly in position. Caution! The rotating propeller may cause injury.
•Make sure that no sand, dirt, stones, rope or other foreign objects get into the jet drive.
Never remove foreign objects from the jet drive while the Bod-Jet is in operation. Danger of
injury!
•Only authorised Bod-Jet service and maintenance partners are authorised to remove the jet
drive.
•Never place any objects into the jet drive by hand. Doing so can cause injury.
•Bod-Jets must be switched off (put into sleep mode) immediately after use.
•The Bod-Jet’s must not be left unattended when not in use.
•The Bod-Jet is a heavy device. Ensure that it does not fall on you or any pilots or any other
persons. Should this occur there is a risk of injury.
•The Bod-Jet should not be left for periods of time in direct sunlight. If exposed to heat,
flaming gases can be discharged through the Bod-Jet battery box causing serious injury! In
addition, the OLED display may become irreparably damaged.
•Bod-Jet’s should never be left in the water unattended.
•Never detach the battery box from the Bod-Jet while the device is in the water. Always take
precautions to prevent the high-current connecting plates on the battery box and Bod-Jet
from coming into direct contact with the water. If this occurs, a short circuit may result,
causing irreparable damage to the Bod-Jet’s electronic system. Water, especially salt water,
is highly conducive of electricity. As a result, water seeping into the battery box may cause
flaming gases to be discharged through the battery box safety valve causing serious injury.
•Before charging the battery box, check that the charging socket on the charger and the
charging plug are perfectly clean and dry. Wet and/or dirty plug connections may cause a
short circuit while the battery box is being charged or even before this process is begun. If a
short circuit occurs, it can cause irreparable damage to the charging contacts of the Bod-Jet.
Caution! Short circuits can cause fires.
•Always ensure the power button is functioning properly. When you release the power
button the Bod-Jet should stop immediately. A damaged or sticking power button should be
repaired or replaced immediately.
•Never open the Bod-Jet yourself. All repairs and maintenance work on the Bod-Jet that goes
beyond the procedures described in Chapter [6] “Care” may only be carried out by an
authorised Bod-Jet service and maintenance partner. Work of this type is dangerous and
may result in severe injury or cause damage to the Bod-Jet if not carried out by an
authorised technician.
•If you detect any damage to the Bod-Jet, in particular the battery box, charging socket and
seals, immediately stop operating the device and contact the manufacturer or your specialist
dealer.
•You must ensure all machine nuts and bolts are checked as properly fitted and in full
working order prior to any use.
•If you have any reason to suspect water ingress into the battery box do not use it and please
contact the manufacturer or specialist dealer.
•Ensure batteries are removed when a Bod-Jet stops being used on a day and ensure the
battery compartment lid is left open to allow air circulation. Ensure before next use that
there is no condensation inside the battery area or on the battery leads.
•Ensure the operating buttons are functioning properly and not sticking or staying depressed.
Any such issue mean buttons need to be repaired or replaced before any further use.

General safety information concerning the Bod-Jet batteries
•Never expose the battery box to high temperatures (max. 60 °C / 140 °F) caused e.g. by open fire,
direct sunlight or by storage inside a closed motor vehicle or boot. If exposed to heat, flaming gases
can be discharged through the safety valve causing serious injury.
•Never transport a fully charged battery box over long distances. The battery box should only be
partially charged during transport. If instructions are disregarded, flaming gases can be discharged
through the safety valve causing serious injury!
•Note, there are international standards regarding the transportation of lithium ion batteries (or
products containing the same). It is your responsibility to be aware of, and to comply with, such.
Batteries must be stored in accordance with any local rules or laws
•For use under normal conditions, the chemicals contained in each High-Energy Li-Ion battery cell
are encased in a sealed case for safe storage in any position. In addition, the individual cells are
enclosed in the watertight profile and equipped with a state of the art battery management system.
Due to this protection, there is a risk of flaming gases being discharged only if the battery boxes
have been subjected to excessive mechanical stresses or heat.
•Only use the chargers supplied by Bod-Jet to charge the batteries. Chargers supplied by other
manufacturers are not equipped with the special microprocessor-controlled charge management
system for protection of the High-Energy Li-Ion battery cells. As a result, flaming gases may be
discharged when charging the accumulator cells with other chargers, causing serious injury.
•Beware of the strong line currents that are present when charging. Never use the charging system if
any of the cables are damaged or worn. Doing so can cause the cable to catch fire and may lead to
electric shock resulting in severe injury or death.
•Only remove, replace or charge the batteries in dry and cool locations. Never charge in direct
sunlight or in heat.
•Never charge the batteries overnight or otherwise leave unattended during charging –if a
fire/incident occurs immediate action will be required.
•Never open the battery box. Never attempt to alter or modify the battery box in any way. Doing so
may cause flaming gases to be discharged through the safety valve causing serious injury.
•Repairs and maintenance work on the Bod-Jet, batteries and chargers may only be carried out by an
authorised Bod-Jet service partner. Work of this type is dangerous and may result in severe injury
or cause damage to the Bod-Jet, battery box and charger if not carried out by an authorised Bod-Jet
service partner.
•Ensure that there are no dried salt deposits on the contacts of any of the charging sockets or
charging plugs. Salt deposits can inhibit the flow of electricity during charging and cause electrical
contacts to overheat, resulting in irreparable damage to the contacts or even fires affecting the
contacts or cables.
•Never discard the battery boxes or cells. Disused battery boxes should be returned to either the
service provider, distributor or manufacturer.
•Batteries must only be stored in dry conditions which comply with the other requirements above
(e.g no exposure to heat or direct sunlight).
•You must ensure the battery does not short circuit, is not opened or punctured and is not knocked
or damaged. Any of these things can risk flaming gases to be released which can cause serious
injury.
•Batteries to be removed at the end of each day of use. Leave battery compartment lid open to
allow air to circulate but ensure no condensation is present in the area or on leads or connectors
before refitting the battery

4.4 How to operate
4
| Page 14 | Bod-Jet | Operator Manual |
Pilots must hold on to the control grips on the Bod-Jet securely. The Bod-Jet’s are fitted with a soft
start mechanism to reduce the force of acceleration when the ”Go” button is pressed. However, it
remains important that the pilot has a firm hold of the Bod-Jet at all times to prevent coming detached
from the board.
Pilots should lie down flat on the Bod-Jet facing forward. See below for optimum riding position:
Caution! Do not permit pilots to stand or kneel on the Bod-Jets.
To Go:
For maximum safety, the Bod-Jet can only be operated when:
1. The anti-splay wrist strap is correctly attached; and
2. Both “Go” buttons have been depressed.
The Bod-Jet has two speeds: Normal speed and Boost. Normal speed is achieved by pressing the ”Go”
button. Boost speed is achieved by pressing the ”Boost” button. NB: Boost can only be achieved when
the “Go” button is being pressed simultaneously. Pressing the Boost button alone will not activate the
motor.
To turn the board, pilots should shift their weight in the direction they want to go, while pulling the bow
of the Bod-Jet in the same direction. Pilots should lean into the curve just as they would a bicycle. The
lower part of the pilots body that is trailing in the water acts as a tail fin. While turning the craft, pilots
must hold on to the controlgrips tightly to prevent sliding off the Bod-Jet.
To Stop:
To stop, simply release either ”Go” button. The motor will stop immediately, and the resistance of the
water will very quickly slow the pilot down.
The Bod-Jet brakes by cutting off power and allowing the water resistance to slow the craft. NB: it
can take around 2-3m for the pilot to come to a complete stop. For this reason pilots should always
maintain a safe distance to other persons, watercraft and obstacles. Danger of collision and injury
Operator Manual

4.5 After Use
When the Bod-Jets are no longer in use they should stowed in a safe and dry location where condensation
will not build up on or in the product. The battery should be removed and the battery compartment lid left
open to allow air to circulate. The Bod-Jets are heavy items and should only be carried by a supervising
capable adult.
Never carry the Bod-Jet by the control grips!
If the Bod-Jet is to be left in the water, the operator must ensure that it is properly moored. Ensure that the
Bod-Jet cannot become unattached, injure others, or obstruct their path.
Bod-Jet should be switched off and the battery disconnected to prevent further discharge. This also prevents
unauthorised persons, inexperienced persons and unauthorised persons from using the Bod-Jet and injuring
themselves.
Never leave the Bod-Jets unattended.
Do not leave the Bod-Jets or any batteries in the sun or heat if they are not being used. Without water to cool
the device, the direct sunlight can heat the display to temperatures of around 70°C / 158°F. If exposed to
such heat the function can be impaired or irreparable damage may even be caused to the display. Heat
potentially creates fire and explosion risk for the batteries too. For these reasons operators should always put
the Bod-Jet in the shade when not in use or, if necessary, cover the display with a wet-light coloured towel to
prevent irreparable damage to the display caused by excessive heat, particularly as a result of direct sunlight.
Bod-Jet’s should be thoroughly cleaned at the end of each day’s use. After using device, first remove all salt
deposits, dirt or other foreign objects by rinsing all components with fresh water (from a low pressure
source) and / or blowing them out with air from a low pressure source. Ensure that places which are not
easily accessible (e.g. the drive unit inlets and outlets) are rinsed thoroughly and/or blown out.

sealing surfaces can reduce the effectiveness of the seal, resulting in damage to the Bod-Jet as well as
damage to the motor and the motors electronic system.
4.6 Storing the Bod-Jet
If the Bod-Jets are not in a period of operation they should be stowed in a safe and dry location where
