5.4 Commissioning
•After you have made all the electrical connections for the power supply and for the welding
circuit, you can put the device into operation.
•Switch on the device with the switch (2).
•Since the setting of the welding device differs depending on the application, we recommend
that you make the settings using a test weld.
•Then set the step switch to the appropriate welding level, depending on the material
thickness, the desired burn-in depth and the welding wire diameter used. You will quickly get
a feel for choosing the right level of welding after a few tries.
•Clamp the earth cable firmly to the workpiece.
5.5 Operation with the hose package
•Connect the gas line accordingly and adjust the pressure accordingly.
•Put the switch up on the hose package.
•Set the Impetus switch for long or short pulse duration depending on the workpiece.
•Set the Impetus regulator to the frequency depending on the pulse duration and material.
•Guide the burner needle to 0.079 - 0.158 in (2 - 4 mm) to the material.
•Press the burner button. The HF ignition ignites and the gas connection is opened.
•Proper posture and guidance of the handle greatly affects the quality and appearance of the
weld. First, always weld a few test pieces, this gives you the right feeling for welding.
•When welding is complete, release the burner button and the gas will continue to flow for
some time; leaving the nozzle on the material for as long as possible.
5.6 Operation with electrode
•Connect the electrode cable and set the switch to electrode.
•Insert an electrode into the holder and connect the mass to the material.
•Place the electrode on the workpiece, it will be ignited.
•The steady sound indicates that the correct amperage is set.
•The electrode should be placed on the workpiece at an angle of 20 to 30 degrees.
6.Cleaning and maintenance
•Attention! Before any maintenance work, please disconnect the device from the power
supply.
•Regular maintenance is important for the performance and durability of the device. There
are no further serviceable parts inside the device.
•Clean the device regularly and thoroughly. We recommend that you clean the unit
immediately after each use.
•Clean the device with a damp cloth and some soft soap.
•Attention! Do not use detergents or solutions for cleaning, e.g. gasoline, chlorine-based
cleaners and household cleaners; these could attack the plastic parts of the device. Make
sure that no water can get inside the unit.
•Keep the guards, louvers and motor housings as dust and dirt free as possible. Wipe the
device with a clean cloth or blow it out with compressed air at low pressure.
•Protect the device from metal dust to prevent interference in the electronics.
•Check all screws and nuts regularly, retighten them if necessary.
•Be sure to protect the hose assembly from external damage (sharp edges, do not drive over
with other equipment).
