Introduction
e P-Vac™ is a compact and portable self-contained vacuum source with a range
of -25 to -50kPa (-250 to -500mBar). Any glass or plastic collection ask from
50-2000 mL can be used with the P-Vac to aspirate dishes, plates, asks or tubes
in seconds. e P-Vac can also be used directly on bottle top aspirators to provide
the vacuum necessary to lter liquid solutions. e rechargeable lithium ion battery
enables the product to be used when or where electrical power is not available.

Important Safety Information
Please read the following safety precautions and instruction manual before operating
the P-Vac aspirating system.
Do not overll the receiving ask, or bottle! Doing so will introduce liquid into the
lter and if continued, into the instrument housing. Should accidental contamination
of the lter occur, replace the lter immediately to avoid further contamination.
Should liquid pass through the lter, into the housing, contact Argos Technologies
for assistance.
CAUTION! Do not aspirate uids into the P-Vac. e P-Vac contains a safety
lter which will stop uid from reaching internal mechanisms. If uid or foam gets
into the lter, the lter must be changed immediately or the unit may not provide
vacuum. Note: e hydrophobic lter holds back aqueous solutions; whereas
retention of apolar liquid is limited.
WARNING! Reference Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), wear essential
protective equipment and adhere to all applicable local and national regulations
before dispensing, using and/or disposing of hazardous substances.
WARNING! is product does not contain bio-seals or venting to a hood nor
does it provide any level of containment. When working with hazardous or volatile
substances or biohazardous agents, always place the P-Vac within a laminar ow
cabinet.
CAUTION! When working with hazardous substances, you must comply with
your laboratory regulations, trade association regulations, health authorities and
supervisory oces.
WARNING! If the unit is not used as recommended by the manufacturer, the
overall safety will be impaired.

Other than replacing the battery, there are no user serviceable parts inside the unit.
ere are also no user serviceable parts inside the power supply.
Use of any battery other than originally specied can damage the product and void
the warranty.
Battery Disposal – is unit contains a lithium ion battery. Should it need to be
replaced, please contact your local authorized facility for proper waste disposal
information.
e lter and unit are capable of ingesting harmful reagents. When cleaning this unit
or replacing the lter, you must follow the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for
any reagent you use.
Always use the external power supply provided with this product! Use of any other
power supply can damage the product and void the warranty.
Always work and handle this product and/or materials in a manner that DOES NOT
endanger the user, or any other person(s) or the environment.
Always remove the power cord from the outlet prior to maintaining or cleaning the
product.
Always observe general laboratory safety precautions and regulations when using this
product.
Always use the proper cleaning agents when performing maintenance on the product.
NEVER use the product in a manner not specied in these instructions.
NEVER use solvents or ammable liquids in or near this equipment.
NEVER operate in a hazardous or ammable environment.

General Operating Instructions
1. Remove the P-Vac from the box and examine all of the contents for breakage or
missing parts. Save all packaging and paperwork.
2. Place the product on a sturdy, level surface away from the edge of the counter and
other moving equipment. Make sure the AC power adapter and cords are clear of
hot surfaces and other hazards. Make sure the AC power adapter and cords are not
blocked by other equipment in case it needs to be disconnected.
3. Make sure the product has ventilation and is not encased in any material that will
limit airow. An overheating situation could occur.
4. Insert the DC plug into the DC receptacle located on the back of the P-Vac housing.
Plug the AC Adapter into an electrical outlet. e outlet location should allow for
easy access to plug and unplug the product.
5. Allow the P-Vac battery to charge for three (3) hours before operating for the rst
time. e unit will then run for 2+ hours of continuous use. When charging, the
LED will turn amber. Once the battery has been fully charged, the indicator LED
will turn green. During use if the LED ashes green the battery is becoming low and
will need to be recharged soon. If it ashes amber, the battery is almost empty and
should be recharged immediately. If the battery is empty the LED will rapidly ash
amber for a moment and the P-Vac will switch o. In these conditions the P-Vac
should be recharged. e P-Vac can still be operated while it is charging
Note: If charging is not required, or if there is no battery, then the LED will remain
o.
6. Insert the lter provided into the P-Vac by screwing the threaded end into the
opening at the top of the unit. Rotate clockwise until just snug. en rotate counter
clockwise ¼ turn. Please ensure the lter is aligned properly and that you do not
over-tighten.
7. Insert the tubing provided on top of the lter and connect your receiving vessel or
aspirating ask.
8. Turn the unit on by pressing the silver power button on the front of the unit.
9. Adjust the vacuum by turning the red knob on the front of the unit. Rotate to the
right to increase vacuum
and left to decrease
vacuum. When the unit
is pumping the indicator
will turn amber. When the
vacuum has been reached,
the indicator light will turn
Green. If there is a fault
such as blocked tubing or
where the unit has been

Additional Operating Information
1. Power Button’s standard function is to switch the unit on and o. However,
additional functionality is provided.
a. During operation, if there is a fault condition (Vacuum Status LED Red) the
power button can be pressed momentarily to continue creating a vacuum for a
few seconds.
b. e Power Button can be held for three seconds to power o the P-Vac.
c. e Power Button can be held for seven seconds to place the P-Vac into
Shipping Mode (See Preparation for Shipping section in the manual).
2. e P-Vac has been designed to be used and charged simultaneously. ere is no
performance penalty when using the P-Vac while it is charging.
3. Battery:
a. e P-Vac can be used without a battery installed as long as the P-Vac is
connected to the power supply.
b. e P-Vac has been designed with battery over-charge and under-charge
protection.
c. If any faults are encountered during charging the LED will display Red
indicating that the internal battery may have reached the end of its life and
require replacement. (See Troubleshooting section in manual)
4. If the P-Vac has been left running for over 10 minutes without reaching the desired
vacuum, the unit will shut down. By momentarily pressing the power button the
P-Vac will wake up and operations will continue if a fault is not detected.
Replacing the Battery
e P-Vac system is supplied with a 3.6 volt lithium ion battery. is allows the unit
to be operated without using a dedicated power source.
To replace / install the battery:
1. Disconnect the power supply from the unit.
2. Lay the P-Vac on the front panel with the bottom facing toward the operator.
3. Using a Philips screw driver, remove the battery housing screw and set aside.
4. Turn the unit so the back faces towards the operator.
5. Remove the battery cover to allow access to the battery.
6. Install / remove the battery from the circuit board. e positive + side should be
inserted facing the top of the unit.
7. Replace battery cover and rotate until bottom is facing toward the operator. Insert
screw and tighten.

Filter Installation and Replacement
e P-Vac features a replaceable lter that is easily installed and removed without any
tools.
1. Make sure the P-Vac is “O” (Press power button for 3+ seconds). Remove the
DC power cord from the P-Vac.
2. Unscrew the top lter and pull upward. Discard the lter into proper waste
containers depending on the reagents being used.
3. Insert the new lter into the P-Vac by screwing the threaded end into the opening
at the top of the unit. Rotate clockwise until just snug. en rotate counter
clockwise ¼ turn. Please ensure the lter is aligned properly and that you do not
over-tighten.
4. Reinstall the DC plug into the DC receptacle.
Maintenance, Cleaning & Decontamination
e P-Vac and AC adapter are maintenance free other than occasional cleaning.
To clean, wipe the exterior with a water dampened soft cloth. Do not use abrasives,
caustics or other cleaning products that can damage plastic. ere are no user
serviceable parts inside the housing other than the battery.
8. To enable the new battery, reconnect the power supply cord to the back of the unit.
e battery will begin to charge. Unit can be operated while it is being charged.
9. For “battery only operation”, allow the unit to charge for three (3) hours prior to
use.

applicable local and national regulations before disposing of hazardous substances.
To decontaminate the external product housing, please follow the above cleaning
instructions. No internal parts can be decontaminated by the user. If this product
becomes unusable because of internal contamination, the entire product must be
disposed of according to laboratory and local regulations.
CAUTION! Disconnect the product from the power outlet before cleaning.
Never pour liquid in or on the unit or AC adapter. Never submerge the unit or
AC adapter in liquid!

Preparing for Transportation
is is a special mode which prevents the P-Vac from accidentally being switched
on during transportation. An electronic switch within the unit prevents it from
powering up. e transportation mode is enabled by turning the unit on, then press
and hold the power button for seven seconds. When both Battery Status and Vacuum
Status LEDs rapidly ash Red, shipping mode has been entered. Shipping Mode can
only be disabled by connecting external power. If Shipping Mode was enabled with
external power connected then this must rst be disconnected for a moment before
re-connection to remove shipping mode. When in Shipping Mode the power button
is ineectual.
WEEE Information
is equipment is labeled with the crossed out wheeled bin
symbol to indicate that the equipment must not be disposed of
with unsorted waste. It is your responsibility to correctly dispose
of the equipment by handing it over to an authorized facility for
separate collection and recycling. It is also your responsibility to
decontaminate the equipment in case of biological, chemical or
radioactive contamination. So as to protect from health hazards the
persons involved in the disposal or recycling of products.
For more information about where you can drop o your waste equipment, please
contact your local dealer from whom you originally purchased the product.
By doing so, you will help to conserve our natural resources and you will ensure that
your waste products are recycled in a matter that protects human health and protects
the environment.

Warranty
e Argos Technologies Incorporated P-Vac is warranted to be free of defects in
materials and workmanship for 12 months from the date of purchase. Consumable
items including the lter and tubing are not covered under this warranty. Normal
wear and tear is not covered under the warranty.
e warranty is valid providing that:
• e unit housing has not been opened or attempted to be opened by the end user.
• e user ensures that it has been carefully cleaned and decontaminated before
returning.
• e unit has been operated according to the instructions and not in any improper
way.
• e unit has not been damaged due to negligence, accident or used under abnormal
conditions (temperature, corrosives, lack of cleaning, liquid introduced into
housing, etc.).
In order to qualify for the warranty repair; the customer must return the warranty
card supplied with the unit that includes all of the information required to validate
proof of purchase. Should warranty service be required, repair or replacement will
be provided by Argos Technologies without charge. Freight charges to ship the unit
to Argos will be the responsibility of the purchaser. ere are no other warranties or
guarantees, implied or otherwise expressed including any warranties of application or
merchantability.
In no event will this warranty obligation exceed price of product. is includes
liability claims of loss of use, lost prots or any exemplary or punitive damages.

Incorporated customer service. A return authorization number will be issued. e

Le P-Vac™ une source autonome, compacte et portable, pour faire le vide ; sa plage
est de -25 à -50 kPa (-250 à -500 mBar). Tout acon de collecte en verre ou plastique
de 5 à 200 cl peut s’utiliser avec le P-Vac pour aspirer des cuvettes, plaques, acons
ou tubes en quelques secondes. Le P-Vac peut aussi s’utiliser directement sur des
aspirateurs de haut de bouteille pour fournir le vide nécessaire au ltrage de solutions
liquides. La batterie rechargeable ion-lithium permet d’utiliser le produit quand/où
une alimentation sur secteur n’est pas disponible.

Importantes instructions de sécurité
Veuillez lire les instructions de sécurité qui suivent et le manuel d’instructions avant
d’utiliser le système aspirant P-Vac.
Ne laissez pas déborder le acon ou la bouteille qui reçoit. Cela introduirait du
liquide dans le ltre, et en poursuivant dans le carter de l’instrument. En cas de
contamination accidentelle du ltre, remplacez-le immédiatement pour éviter une
propagation de la contamination.
Si du liquide traversait le ltre jusque dans le carter, contactez Argos technologies
pour de l’assistance.
ATTENTION! N’aspirez pas de uides dans le P-Vac. Il contient un ltre de
sécurité qui arrêtera le uide pour qu’il n’atteigne pas de mécanismes internes. Si
du uide ou de l’écume entre dans le ltre, il doit être remplacé immédiatement ou
l’appareil pourrait ne plus générer de vide. Remarque : Ce ltre hydrophobe retient
les solutions aqueuses, cependant sa rétention de liquide apolaire est limitée.
AVERTISSEMENT! Référez-vous à la che technique de sécurité (SDS),
portez l’indispensable tenue de protection individuelle et respectez toutes les
réglementations locales et nationales applicables avant de distribuer, utiliser et/ou
mettre au rebut des substances dangereuses.

ou de ventilation dans une hotte, et ne procure aucun niveau de contention. Quand

Instructions générales d’utilisation
1. Sortez le P-Vac de sa boîte et examinez tout le contenu pour d’éventuelles pièces cassées ou
manquantes. Conservez tout l’emballage et les papiers d’accompagnement.
2. Placez le produit sur une surface solide et plane, à distance du bord du plan de travail
et d’autres équipements en mouvement. Assurez-vous que le module d’alimentation sur
secteur et les cordons sont à l’écart de surfaces chaudes ou d’autres risques. Assurez-vous
que le module d’alimentation sur secteur et les cordons ne sont pas bloqués par un autre
équipement au cas où il faudrait les débrancher.
3. Assurez-vous que le produit reçoit une ventilation naturelle et n’est pas inséré à un endroit
qui limite la circulation d’air. Sinon il pourrait y avoir une surchaue.
4. Insérez la che de sortie en CC de l’alimentation dans la prise d’entrée en CC à l’arrière du
carter de P-Vac. Branchez le module d’alimentation dans une prise secteur. L’emplacement
de la prise secteur doit rester d’accès facile pour brancher/débrancher le produit. Laissez
la batterie du P-Vac se charger trois heures avant la première mise en marche. L’appareil
pourra ensuite travailler plus de deux heures en continu. Pendant la charge, le voyant
à DEL s’allume couleur ambre. Une fois la batterie complètement chargée, ce voyant
indicateur à DEL passe au rouge. Durant l’utilisation, si ce voyant clignote en vert, c’est que
la charge de batterie devient faible et nécessite bientôt un rechargement. Quand il clignote
couleur ambre, la batterie est presque à plat et sa recharge doit être immédiate. Si la batterie
est déchargée, le voyant clignote encore un moment très vite en couleur ambre puis le P-Vac
se désactive. Dans ces conditions vous devez recharge le P-Vac. L’appareil peut encore
utilisé pendant qu’il est en charge.
Remarque : S’il n’est pas nécessaire de recharger, ou s’il n’y a pas de batterie, ce voyant à
DEL reste éteint.
6. Insérez le ltre fourni avec le P-Vac en vissant son extrémité letée sans l’ouverture en haut
de l’appareil. Tournez-le jusqu’au bout en sens horaire. Puis dévissez-le (sens antihoraire)
d’un quart de tour. Veuillez vous assurer que le ltre est correctement aligné et que vous ne
l’avez pas trop serré.
7. Insérez la tubulure fournie en haut du ltre et branchez son autre extrémité à votre
récipient de collecte ou acon aspirant.
8. Mettez l’appareil en marche en appuyant sur le bouton argenté sur sa face avant
9. Réglez le vide en tournant le bouton rouge à l’avant de l’appareil. Vers la gauche, vous
augmentez le niveau de
vide, vers la droite, vous le
diminuez.
Quand l’appareil pompe,
l’indicateur d’activité
s’allume ne couleur ambre.
Quand le vide a été atteint,
cet indicateur passe au vert.
S’il y a un défaut comme
une tubulure bouchée ou un
pompage continu pendant
dix minutes, le P-Vac s’arrête
et son voyant passe au rouge.

Instructions additionnelles d’utilisation
1. La fonction normale du bouton M/A est d’activer/désactiver l’appareil. Cependant,
il a une fonctionnalité supplémentaire.
a. S’il y a une condition de défaut en fonctionnement (voyant à DEL de vide
rouge), ce bouton M/A peut être enfoncé fugitivement pour créer du vide
pendant quelques secondes de plus.
b. Il faut maintenir enfoncé ce bouton pendant trois secondes pour arrêter le P-Vac.
c. Le fait de le garder enfoncé pendant sept secondes fait passer le P-Vac en mode
d’expédition (Voyez la section Préparation à l’expédition de ce manuel).
2. Le P-Vac est conçu pour pouvoir se recharger et tourner en même temps. Dans
cette situation cela n’aecte pas sa performance.
3. Batterie :
a. Le P-Vac peut s’utiliser sans batterie dans la mesure où il est branché sur son
module d’alimentation connecté au secteur.
b. L’appareil intègre une protection contre la surcharge ou la sous-charge.
c. Si des défauts quelconques surviennent durant la charge, le voyant DEL passe
en rouge pour indiquer que la batterie interne arrive en n de vie et doit être
remplacée (Voyez la section Dépannage du manuel).
4. Si le P-Vac a été laissé en action pendant plus de 10 minutes sans avoir atteint le
vide voulu, il se coupera tout seul. en appuyant momentanément sur son bouton
M/A, le P-Vac se réveille et continue de pomper si aucun défaut n’est détecté.
Remplacement de la batterie
Le système P-Vac est livré avec une batterie ion-lithium de 3,6 volts. Elle permet
d’utiliser l’appareil sans qu’il utilise son module d’alimentation sur secteur.
Remplacement / installation de batterie :
1. Débranchez la connexion venant du module d’alimentation de l’appareil.
2. Couchez le P-Vac sur son panneau frontal avec le bas orienté vers l’opérateur.
3. À l’aide d’un tournevis à pointe Phillips, enlevez la vis du logement de batterie et
mettez-la de côté.
4. Tournez l’appareil avec son dos vers l’opérateur.
5. Ôtez le cache de batterie pour pouvoir accéder à la batterie.
6. Installez / enlevez la batterie du circuit imprimé. La borne + doit être insérée vers le
haut de l’appareil.
7. Remettez en place le cache de batterie et tournez jusqu’à ce que le bas soit face à
l’opérateur. Insérez et serrez la vis de cache.

Installation et remplacement du filtre
Le P-Vac comporte un ltre remplaçable qu’il est facile d’installer et enlever sans
aucun outil.
1. Assurez-vous que le P-Vac est bien arrêté (Appuyez sur son bouton M/A au moins
3 secondes). Débranchez sa connexion en CC venant du module d’alimentation.
2. Dévissez le ltre du haut et levez-le pour le sortir. Mettez le ltre usagé au rebut
dans un conteneur approprié en fonction des réactifs qui ont été utilisés.
3. Insérez le ltre neuf dans le P-Vac en vissant son extrémité letée sans l’ouverture
en haut de l’appareil. Tournez-le jusqu’au bout en sens horaire. Puis dévissez-
le (sens antihoraire) d’un quart de tour. Veuillez vous assurer que le ltre est
correctement aligné et que vous ne l’avez pas trop serré.
4. Rebranchez la che d’arrivée en CC sur la prise d’entrée d’alimentation à l’arrière
de l’appareil.
Entretien, nettoyage et décontamination
Le P-Vac et son module d’alimentation ne nécessitent pas d’entretien en dehors
d’un nettoyage occasionnel. Pour les nettoyer passez sur leur extérieur un chion
doux imbibé d’eau. N’utilisez pas de produits de nettoyage abrasifs ou caustiques,
ou pouvant endommager le plastique. Il n’y a pas à l’intérieur du carter de pièces, en
dehors de la batterie, sur lesquelles l’utilisateur puisse intervenir.
8. Pour activer la nouvelle batterie, rebranchez à l’arrière la connexion venant du
module d’alimentation de l’appareil La batterie va commencer à se charger.
L’appareil peut être utilisé durant cette charge.
9. Pour une utilisation exclusivement sur batterie, laissez la batterie vide se charger
trois heures avant de commencer.
