1. This product is not a toy. Keep out of reach of
children. Intended for ages 14 years and older.
2. Do not expose to rain or wet conditions.
3. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not
mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or
rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
Position batteries in proper polarity. Do
not use swollen or leaking batteries.
4. Inspect before every use; do not use
if parts are loose or damaged.
5. Store idle equipment. When not in use, store radios
in a dry location to decrease exposure to moisture.
6. The warnings, precautions, and instructions
discussed in this instruction manual cannot
cover all possible conditions and situations
that may occur. It must be understood by the
operator that common sense and caution are
factors which cannot be built into this product,
but must be supplied by the operator.
7. Do not short, incinerate, recharge or open battery.
8. Inspect before use; do not use if damaged.
9. Contact local hazardous waste authority for proper
disposal guidelines. Save these warnings.

Battery Installation
1. Slide battery compartment cover down to open it.

2. Insert four AAA batteries (included) into battery
compartment, following indicated polarity.
3. Slide cover back into place until it clicks securely.
Note: The ‘Battery’ icon is displayed in the bottom
left corner of the display screen. When battery power
drops to ‘low,’ the radio will emit an alert beep. When
‘Battery’ icon appears empty and starts flashing,
the display screen will shut off 30 seconds later.

Operation

General Operating Instructions
Radio Operation
1. Turn the Radio ON by pressing and holding
the POWER button until the radio beeps.
2. Increase volume by pressing the UP button and
decrease by pressing the DOWN button.
3. Turn the Radio OFF by pressing and holding
POWER button again until the radio beeps.
4. To Transmit a Call:
a. Press and hold TRANSMIT button to transmit
a call over the radio. During transmission,
‘TX’ will appear on the display.
b. Release the button when you have finished.
Note: When receiving a transmission,
display screen will show ‘RX.’
5. To Send a Call Alert Tone:
a. Press the CALL button once. During
transmission, ‘TX’ will appear on the display.
b. After the tone has finished transmitting,
radio will return to ‘Standby’ mode.
6. To Change a Channel:
a. Press POWER button once. The current
channel will flash on display screen.
b. While the channel number is flashing,
press UP button for a higher channel or
DOWN button for a lower channel.
c. Press TRANSMIT button to set the
desired channel, or wait 10 seconds for
radio to automatically set channel.
7. To Change a Sub-Channel:
a. Press POWER button 2 times. Current sub-
channel will flash on display screen.
b. While the sub-channel number is flashing,
press UP button for a higher channel or
DOWN button for a lower channel.
c. Press TRANSMIT button to set the
desired channel, or wait 10 seconds for
radio to automatically set channel.
Note: Your radio unit features an open-
license band. Always identify yourself when
transmitting on the same channel.
8. To Activate VOX Mode:
Note: VOX Mode (or voice-activated) allows the
radio to transmit a signal by the sound of your voice
or any other sound in the vicinity. Avoid VOX Mode
if you are in an excessively noisy environment.
a. Press POWER button 3 times and the ‘VX
OFF’ notification will flash on display screen.
b. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to select
between 3 volume levels for this mode.
c. While in VOX Mode, the ‘VX’ icon
will appear on the display.
9. To Select the Call Tone:
Note; This radio contains ten different Call Tones.
a. Press the POWER button 4 times
to view Call Tone selection.
b. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to scroll through
available tones and select desired tone.
c. Press TRANSMIT button to set call tone, or wait
10 seconds for radio to automatically set tone.
10. Using the Time-Out Timer:
Note: The Time-Out Timer forces radio
to cease transmission after either 30 or
60 seconds of continuous use.
a. Press POWER button 5 times and the
display screen will show ‘60.’
b. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to select either
60 or 30 seconds for time-out duration.
11. To Lock the Radio:
a. To lock, press and hold the CALL
button for three seconds.
b. To unlock, press and hold again
for three seconds.
12. To Activate Auto-Scan:
a. To activate Auto Scan, press and hold
MONI button for three seconds.
b. To deactivate, press MONI button again.
13. To prevent accidents, turn off the tool
and after use. Clean, then store the tool
indoors out of children’s reach.

NOAA Weather Channels
1. To Access NOAA Weather Channels:
a. Press and hold UP button for 3 seconds
until ‘RX’ icon appears and ‘Weather’ icon
flashes, then press POWER button ONCE.
b. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to find
the desired weather channel.
c. Press TRANSMIT button to set channel.
d. Press and hold UP button again for 3
seconds to exit NOAA channels.
NOAA Weather Alert
1. To Receive NOAA Weather Alert:
a. Press and hold UP button for three seconds
until ‘RX’ icon appears and ‘Weather’ icon
flashes. Press POWER button TWICE and
‘AL OFF’ notification will appear on display.
b. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to turn the
alert system ON or OFF. If a message is
present, an alarm will sound for 20 seconds.
c. Press any button to listen to the message.
Maintenance and Servicing
Procedures not specifically explained in this manual must
be performed only by a qualified technician.
TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM ACCIDENTAL OPERATION:
Make sure that the Switch is in the off-position and before performing any procedure in this section.
TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM TOOL FAILURE:
Do not use damaged equipment. If abnormal noise or vibration
occurs, have the problem corrected before further use.
Cleaning, Maintenance, and Lubrication
1. BEFORE EACH USE, inspect the general
condition of the tool. Check for:
• loose hardware
• misalignment or binding of moving parts
• cracked or broken parts
• any other condition that may
affect its safe operation.
2. AFTER USE, wipe external surfaces
of the tool with clean cloth.

installation, normal wear and tear, or to lack of maintenance. We shall in no event be liable for death, injuries
to persons or property, or for incidental, contingent, special or consequential damages arising from the use of
our product. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the
above limitation of exclusion may not apply to you. THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER
WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS.
To take advantage of this warranty, the product or part must be returned to us with transportation charges
prepaid. Proof of purchase date and an explanation of the complaint must accompany the merchandise.
If our inspection verifies the defect, we will either repair or replace the product at our election or we may
elect to refund the purchase price if we cannot readily and quickly provide you with a replacement. We will
return repaired products at our expense, but if we determine there is no defect, or that the defect resulted
from causes not within the scope of our warranty, then you must bear the cost of returning the product.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
