PRODUCT DESCRIPTION 3
The DFWis abatterypoweredpassiveinfrared
motion detectorwithabuilt-intransmitter.
Thistransmittercan be used inavarietyofmotion
detection applications.When the passiveinfrared
sensordetectsmotion initsfieldof view, the
transmittersendsawirelesssignaltothe re-
ceiver.
The DFWsendsthree different signals: “Alarm”,
“Low Battery”and “Tamper”.
Inatypicalinstallation, the motion detectoris wall
mounted indoors.
The sensorwillmonitorthe infrared levelinits
detection pattern.If the levelincreasesorde-
creasesrapidly(aswhen aperson movesthrough
the area)the transmittertriggers,sending an
alarmsignaltothe receiver.
The unit is powered froma3volt lithiumbattery.
The lifeof the batterydependsupon theactivityin
the area wherethe detectoris installed. When the
batteryis low, alow batterysignalwill be sent to
the receiver.
If the detectorcoveris removed, the tamperswitch
triggersthe transmittertosend an alarm.
The DFWhasaunique Automatic PowerSaver
(APS)circuit designed toconservebatterylife.
ThisAPS circuit rearmsthe transmitter2minutes
afterthe last movement hasbeen detected.

and Frequent(test)
Select the mounting location sothat anintruder
willcrossthe beamsof the selected pattern.
Sincethe detectoris awireless transmitter, do not
install it inareaswherelarge metalobjectscould
interferewiththe transmission of signals.
Avoidmounting thedetectorasfollows:
Facing adoorwithawireless door/window
transmitter.
Facing direct sunlight.
Facing areasthat maychange temperature
rapidly.
Facing an airduct orareaswithsubstantial
airflows.
Onornearmetalsurfaces.
The DFWperformsbest when provided witha
constant and stableenvironment.
REMOVAL OF FRONTCOVER MOUNTINGDETECTORBASE
1.Toremovethe frontcover, unscrew the holding
screw and gentlyraisethe front cover.
2.Toremovethe PCB, carefullyunscrew the
holding screw located on the PCB.
3.Knockout the desired holesforinstallation.
4.Mount thedetectorbasetothewall, corner.
5.Reinstall the PCBbyfullytightening thehold-
ing screw.
6.Install the batteryinthebatteryholderobserv-
ing the polarity.
7. Replacethe coverbyinserting it backinthe
appropriateclosing pinsand screw inthe
holding screw.

Setting theSensitivityAdjustment
PIR AdjustPotentiometer
Usethis potentiometertoadjust the detection
sensitivitybetween 68%and 100%(factoryset
to84%). Rotatethe potentiometerclockwiseto
increasesensitivity. Rotatethepotentiometer
counter-clockwisetodecreasesensitivity.
Pulse Width Switch
The sensitivityadjustment switchsetsup the

tions.
Position 1= Normal
Position AUTO= Harsh
The “1”position setting is fornormaloperation.
The “AUTO”position setting is forharshenviron-
ment locationswithairdrafts.

Setting Transmission Mode
The transmission mode is changed bymoving
the jumperpinson the TRANSboard, fromone
option totheother.
Normal:
When the IR motion is detected, anRFtrans-
mission willbe sent, then the DFWwill save
powerand not transmit foranother2minutes.
Test:
Inthis mode everytimeIR motion is detected,
an RFtransmission will be sent. This mode will
not timeout, making it idealforadoorminder
situation.
