1FUNCTION
1.1Thedetectorisdesignedtodetectsmokyfiresinsidelargepremises.
1.2Detectorconsistsof2units:transmitter(Tx)andreceiver(Rx).
1.3ThedetectortransmitstheFireandtheFaultmessages.Thedetectortransmits
theFiremessagewheninfraredradiationfluxbetweenTxandRxisslackenedbysmokein
specifiednumberoftimes,andtheFaultmessagewhentheinfraredradiationfluxis
completelyobscured.ThesemessagesareindicatedwithredLEDindicatorsonthe
receiver.
1.4TheFireoutgoingsignalretainsafteraffectingwithcombustionaerosol
productshasbeenceased.Youcanresetthedetectortostandbymodeswitchingoffthe
mainssupplyforatleast5s.

4DESIGNANDPRINCIPLESOFOPERATION
4.1Thedetectorisanautomaticopticalelectronicdeviceprovidingelectronicand
visualalarmwhensmokeappearsinthespacebetweenRxandTx.
4.2Eachunit,transmitterandreceiver,isaconstructionconsistingofthehousing
andamountingbracketwherefunctionalunitsofRxandTxandexternalinterfaceunits
(EIU‐1andEIU‐1.1)arelocated.Therearealsoholesonthebracketintendedtofix
detector'sunits.
4.3IndicatorsandopticalsystemwindowarelocatedonfrontpanelsofRxandTx.
TheRANGEandCALIBRATIONswitchesarelocatedontherearpanelofRx.Theslotfor
accesstothesensitivityadjustmentscrewislocatedonthesidesurfaceofRx.An
additionalindicatorofCALIBRATIONmodeisonEIU‐1.1.
ThepressedpositionoftheRangebuttonswitchcorrespondstotherange"0"
(distanseupto30m),theunpressedpositionoftheCalibrationswitchcorrespondsto
CALIBRATIONmode.

5HOWTOPREPARETHEDETECTORFOROPERATING
5.1Afterreceivingyourdetectoritshouldbeunpackandthekit’scontentshould
bechecked.Allowthedetectortostaypackedintheroomforatleast4hoursifthe
detectorwasexposedtonegativetemperaturesbeforeopening.Inspecttheexterior.
Makesurethatsealsareintactandnotvisiblydamaged(cracks,dents).Ifthedetector
wasdamagedwhileshippedornotoperatesproperly,reportthemanufacturerwithin5
days.
5.2Checkingthereceiverforproperoperation
5.2.1UnpresstheRANGEbuttonswitch,presstheCALIBRATIONswitch.
5.2.2ConnectRxtoa20‐30VDCpowersourceasshownonFigure5.BothLEDson
Rxshallpulseatdifferentintervalsbetweenpulses(0.5secand2sec).Theindicatoron
EIU‐1.1Rxshallbesteadilylit.
5.2.3SettheRANGEswitchintothepressedposition.ThestateofLEDsshallnot
change.
5.2.4SettheRANGEswitchintotheunpressedposition.TheindicatoronEIU‐1.1
shallextinguish.Innotlongerthan10sectherightindicatorofRxwillbelit.
5.2.5Disconnectthetransmitterfromthepowersupplysource.
5.3Checkingthetransmitterforproperoperation
5.3.1Connectthetransmittertoa20‐30VD.C.powersourceasdrawnonFigure5
inseriesthroughthe51Ohmresistorinpluswire.BothLEDsshallsynchronicallypulse10
timesonceeverysecond.
5.3.2Disconnectthetransmitterfromthepowersupply.




6INSTALLATION
6.1Theinstallationshouldbemadeaccordingtoapre‐elaborateplanwherethe
requirementsofthemanualshouldbeconsidered.
ATTENTION:Onlyonedetectorshouldbeconnectedtoafirealarmloop.Itis
recommendedtomakeconnectionsofacontrolpanelwiththetransmitterandthe
receiverwiththetransmitterbytwisted‐wirecableandlayinthespecialearthedcable
channels.Shieldedcableshouldbeusedtoprovideadditionalprotectionagainst
electricalobstacles.Itisnotrecommendedtoplacefirealarmsystemcablesincommon
cablechannelswithotherelectricalwires.
6.2Itisnotrecommendedtomounttheunitsinplaceswherethegases,vapour
andaerosolscancausecorrosion.Duringrepairworksadditionalcovershouldbeusedto
protectunitsagainstdebris.
6.3Thedetector’ssensitivezoneistheinfraredbeambetweenthereceiverand
transmitter.Thesensitivezonediameterisdeterminedbytheopticalsystemwindow.The
sensitivezoneshouldnotbeoverlappedbyanyobjects.
6.4Thedirectlightexposureoftheopticalsystemwindowisnotallowed.
6.5Unitsofdetectorsshouldbeinstalledtoarigidbase(mainwall,column,rafter
etc.)inanaccessibleplace.
Note:Itisallowedtoinstallseveraldetectorsinoneroomallocatingsensitive
zonesparalleltoeachother.Whenthedistancebetweenparallelopticalaxesofsensitive
zonesislessthan3meters,differentdetectorunitsshouldbemountedonthesamewall:
transmitter,receiver,transmitterandsoon.
6.6MarkoutthetransmitterandreceivermountingplacesaccordingtoFigure1.

7ALIGNMENTANDCHECKINGFORPROPEROPERATION
7.1Adjustment
7.1.1LooseRxandTxbracketattachingscrews,directtheopticalsystemwindows
toeachother.
7.1.2Tightenscrewjointswithforceensuringthefixationoftheunits’chosen
positionandpossibilityofthefollowingadjustment.
7.2Calibration
7.2.1TheRANGEswitchonRxunitsetsthedistancebetweenTxandRx.The
RANGEswitchshouldbesettotheunpressedpositionifthedistancebetweentheunitsis
upto30m.Whenthedistanceisgreaterthan30m‐totheunpressedposition.
7.2.2SettheCALIBRATIONswitchonRxtothepressedposition.
7.2.3Turnthefirealarmsystemon.ThevoltagedropontheEUI‐1contacts«7»
and«8»shouldnotbelessthan8V.In10secafterenergizingbothLEDswill
simultaneouslyflashonTxevery1sec.TheindicatoronEIU‐1.1shallbecontinuouslylit.
Dependingontheadjustmentprecision,thefollowingcombinationsofoptical
indicationonRxarepossible:
‐brightflashesevery1secwhenhighlevelofopticalsignalhasbeendetected;
‐lowbrightnessflashesoftheleftindicatorevery1secandrightindicatorisoff
whennormallevelofopticalsignalhasbeendetected;
‐brightflashesoftherightindicatorandlowbrightnessflashesoftheleft
indicatorevery1secwhenlowlevelofopticalsignalhasbeendetected;

‐brightflashesofbothindicatorsevery0.5secwhenadjustmentofthereceiver
andtransmitterhasbeenmadeincorrectly
‐ flashesatdifferentintervals(0.5secand2sec),andacontrolpanelwillfix
open‐circuitinalarmloopwhentheelectricconnectionbetweenthereceiverand
transmitterisabsent.
7.2.4Iftheopticalsignallevelishighitisnecessarytoattainthenormalsignal
levelbyslowlyturningthecalibrationregulatorcounter‐clockwise.Itisallowedtochange
theRANGEswitch'spositionifnecessary.
7.2.5Iftheopticalsignallevelisnormalitisnecessarytosetthehighlevelofsignal
slowlyturningthecalibrationregulatorclockwise
andthentosetagainthenormallevelofsignalslowlyturningthecalibration
regulatorcounter‐clockwise.
7.2.6Iftheopticalsignallevelislowitisnecessary:
‐setthenormallevelofsignalturningthesensitivityadjustmentscrewclockwise;
‐setthehighlevelofsignalturningthesensitivityadjustmentscrewclockwise;
‐ setthenormallevelofsignalturningthesensitivityadjustmentscrewcounter‐
clockwise.
Whenthenormalorhighsignallevelcannotbesetwiththesensitivityadjustment
screw,itisnecessarytochecktheRANGEswitchpositionandmechanicallyadjustthe
receiverandtransmitteragain.
7.2.7Attaintheoptimalcoaxialityoftheopticalsystemwindows’axesofthe
receiverandtransmitter,whenanytheirdeviationinhorizontalandverticalplanesonly
leadstoopticalsignalleveldecrease.Returntheunittothepositioncorrespondingto
normalsignallevel.
7.2.8Ifanydeviationofthereceiverortransmitterleadstoopticalsignallevel
increase,itisnecessarytofixtheunit’sposition,tosetthenormalsignallevelwiththe
calibrationregulator.Thenrepeatthepreviousaction.
7.2.9Tightenattachmentscrewsofthereceiverandtransmittertobrackets.The
statusofthereceiver’sindicatorsshouldnotchange.
7.2.10Calibratethedetectorattainingthenormalsignallevel,turningthe
calibrationregulatorcounter‐clockwiseandsetittothepositionneartheindicators’
switchfromthenormalsignallevelmodetothelowone.
7.3Verificationoffirealarmsystem 
7.3.1De‐energizetheloopfornotlessthan5s.Afterpowersupplywasrestoredin
notmorethan10sthedetectorshallgotothestandbymodeofoperation.
7.3.2Obscureinfraredbeambetweenthereceiverandtransmitterwithapartition
whichisopaqueforinfraredlight.In5secafterthefixationofthepartitiontheleft
indicatorofthereceiverwillturnonforabout5sec.Duringthisperiodthecurrent
consumptionwillincreaseby25±5mAwhichthecontrolpanelwillinterpretasaFAULT
message.Ifthepoweroftheloopwillbeoffthenin5secthedetectorwillautomatically
gotothestandbymode.Ifwithinthenext10secthepartitionwillnotberemovedoutof
thesensitivezone,thedetectorwillgotothefiremode.Thecurrentconsumptionwill
increaseby8±1,6mAinthefiremode,andtheleftindicatorshallpulsewithlow
brightnessandfrequency1±0,1Hz.
7.3.3Removethepartitionfromthesensitivezoneandde‐energizetheloopforat
least5sec.

7.3.4Energizetheloop.Thestandbymodewillbesetin10sec.Theleftindicator
onRxshallpulseeverysecondwithlowbrightness.
7.3.5Placethe1dBopticalattenuatorforatleast15secintheinimmediate
proximity(notgreaterthan2cm)totheopticalsystemwindowofthereceiversothatthe
opticalaxeofRxlensmatestheattenuator'scenter.Thedetectorshallremaininthe
standbymode.
7.3.6Removethe1dBopticalattenuatorandinthesamewaysetthe2dBoptical
attenuator.Thedetectorwillgotothepre‐alarmmode,withbothindicatorsflashingon
thereceiveronceevery1sec5times.Thebrightnessoftheleftindicatorsflasheswillbe
lowerthanthoseoftherightone.Afterthatthedetectorwillgotothefiremode.
7.3.7Deenergizetheloopforatleast5sec.
7.3.8Energizetheloop.Thestandbymodeshallbesetin10s.
7.3.9Whentheinfraredbeamistotallyobscuredbetweenthereceiverand
transmitterforatleast5sec,thedetectorwillremaininthestandbymode.Ifthe
obscurationofinfraredbeamremainsformorethan5secbutlessthan15sec,the
detectorin5secwillgotothefaultmodefor(51)secandissuetheFAULTmessageto
theloopandagainwillgotothestandbymode.Iftheobscurationofinfraredbeam
remainsformorethan15sec,thedetectorissuestheFIREmessageintheloop.

8MAINTENANCE
Detectorshouldbecheckedforproperoperationatleastonceevery6monthsin
accordancewithp.7.3.WhentheCALIBRATIONbuttonswitchonRxisswitchedover,the
detectorshouldbeinstandbymode.Ifthemodeofindicatorschangescalibrationshould
bemadeaccordingtop.7.2.

9WARRANTY
9.1Thedetectoriswarrantedbythemanufacturerfor18monthsuponthedateof
thedetector’scommissioningbutnotlongerthanfor30monthsfromthedateofapproval
bythequalitycontroldepartmentofthemanufacturer.
9.2Themanufacturerrepairsorreplacesdetectorswithintheguaranteeterm
providedthattherulesofinstallation,timelymaintenance,transportationandstorageof
detectorshavebeenkept.
9.3Inthecasethatfaultsaccordingtothereclamationhavebeenremovedthe
guaranteetermisprolongedforthewhiledetectorswerenotinusebecauseoffaults.














