DATA APPLIANCE FOR ARCGIS USE RESTRICTIONS
The Data Appliance for ArcGIS is a specialized Network Attached Storage device and should not
be administered as just another file server. Arxys manufactures the Data Appliance for ArcGIS for
the exclusive use with Esri ArcGIS for Server. The Data Appliance for ArcGIS is designed to be a
read-only device. Except for specific updates provided by Esri the Data Appliance for ArcGIS
should never be written to or used as an additional storage device. The Data Appliance for
ArcGIS ships with an embedded version of Microsoft® Windows Storage Server 2012 R2. This
license precludes the installation of additional software or adding additional roles to the appliance
to those that have been preloaded at the factory.
•The Data Appliance for ArcGIS can only be used to support ArcGIS for Server
(Standard or Advanced) 10.1-10.3 deployments at version 6.1 or newer.
•The Data Appliance for ArcGIS cannot be used in any other role other than that
of a NAS supporting an ArcGIS for Server environment
•The end user is not authorized to install additional software on the Data
Appliance for ArcGIS. This includes system utilities (anti-virus software, remote
management, etc.) server applications (web server, ftp, directory services) or
backup software. Contact Arxys if any changes to the software must be made in
order to meet facility IT requirements. Arxys will address inquiries on a case by
case basis.
