Manual Addendum:
Web Browser Management
Thank you for purchasing the IntraStack 6014DSB. This document contains important infor-
mation not described in the IntraStack 6014DSB’s Quick Installation Guide or User’s Manual.
It explains how to manage the IntraStack 6014DSB with aWorldWideWeb browser.
Overview
TheIntraStack 6014DSBhas abuilt-in HTTP(HyperText TransferProtocol) server. TheHTTP
server allows you to configure and manage the IntraStack 6014DSB via any standardWorld
WideWeb browser (seeTableA-1 for a list of supported platforms and browsers).
This document explains the following:

Connecting to the IntraStack 6014DSB
▲Important: To connect to the IntraStack 6014DSB with aWeb browser,the
IntraStack must be configured with an IP address. See“Configuring for Manage-
ment”in Chapter 2 of the IntraStack 6014DSB User’s Manual for directions.
The IntraStack 6014DSBWeb Browser Management requires a password. This
password is the same as the IntraStack 6014DSB’s Console management pass-
word (default is Asante).
Multiple users can simultaneously connect to the IntraStack 6014DSB.

To connect to the IntraStack 6014DSB with aWeb browser:
1Locate a computer with a functioningWorldWideWeb browser.
2Open theWeb browser.
3Type the IP address of the IntraStack 6014DSB at the URL prompt,
then press return.
The IntraStack 6014DSB login window appears.

4Type IntraStack in the User Name field.
The User Name is case-sensitive;enter it exactly as shown. The User Name
cannot be changed.
5Type the IntraStack 6014DSB’s Console password in the Passwor d
field.
▲Important: This is the password that is required to access the Con-
sole Local Management Interface’s Configuration Menu. The default
password is Asante. The password is case-sensitive.
6Click OK.

The IntraStack 6014DSBWeb Browser Management Page contains an interac-
tive front-panel image of the device.
Click once on any of the IntraStack 6014DSB’s 12 ports or two MII ports to
receive configuration information and statistics for that port.

Management Button Description
Overview Opens the IntraStack 6014DSB Web Management Home
Page (as displayed in Figure A-2).
General Info Opens the General Information page. This page allows you
to view (and configure in some cases) the following informa-
tion:❏Software version
❏Administration information
❏System information
❏Switch address
❏Bootstrap information
❏Traffic monitoring information
❏Security configuration information
❏System clock
❏Set password
Statistics Opens the Statistics page.
Note: This page is not supported with this release.
Port Config Opens the Port Configuration page.
Note: This page is not supported with this release; however,
you can access port configuration information by clicking
once on a port on the IntraStack 6014DSB image.
Spanning Tree Opens the Spanning Tree page.
Note: This page is not supported with this release.
SNMP Opens the SNMP page.
Note: This page is not supported with this release.
Download Image Opens the Download Image page.
Note: This page is not supported with this release.
Go To Asanté Opens the Asanté Technologies Home Page.

Viewing and Configuring Port Information
To view current port configuration information or statistics:
1Click once on a port on the IntraStack 6014DSB image.
The Port Configuration/Statistics Page appears for the selected port.

The information displayed in drop-down menus in the Port Confi guration
window is configurable.
The information displayed in the Port Statistics window is read-only. For
information on using the Port Statistics window,see“Viewing Port Statistics.”
Configuring Port Information
1Click once in a drop-down menu in the Port Confi gurationwindow.
▲Important: For a description of each drop-down menu,see“Port
Configuration”in Chapter 5 of the IntraStack 6014DSB User’s Manual.
2Select an available option.
3Click Apply Changes.
The port information is changed.
▲Important: The Restor ebutton only restores information that has
been changed in a menu but not yet Applied to the port. For example,
if you select Disabled in the Port State drop-down menu and then
click Restore, the Port State will revert to its original setting (Enabled).
If you select Disabled and then select Apply Settings,you cannot
select Restor eto return the Port State to its original setting.

Viewing Port Statistics
Portstatisticsare read-only. These statisticscanbe updated manuallyorautomatically
(every five seconds).
1Select the port number for which to view statistics in the Port Configuration/
Statistics window.
The port number can be selected by clicking the Pr evious Portor Next
Port button or by typing the number of the port next to Go to Port:and
clicking the Go! button.
2Statistics for the port are displayed.
By default,the Port Statistics window is set to Manual Refr esh(this option
updates statistics only when you click the Manual Refr eshbutton).
3To automatically update the Port Statistics window,click Auto Refr esh.
The Auto Refresh option automatically updates statistics every five seconds.

Viewing General Information
To view general information on the IntraStack 6014DSB:
1Click once on the General Info button on the IntraStack 6014DSB Web
Browser Management Page.
The General Information Page appears.

The General Information Page contains configurable and read-only informa-
tion. Configurable information is displayed in boxes or in drop-down menus.

Options Available
TableA-3 displays the options available on the General Information Page.
To select an option:
❏Click once on the option.
The window containing that option’s information is displayed.
▲Important: Information that is configurable (contained in
a box or in a drop-down menu) has two buttons immediately
following it: Apply Changes and Restor e. The Apply
Changes button must be selected for each option within the
General Information window that you are changing.

Management Option Description
Software Version Displays the current and stored versions of the IntraStack
6014DSB’s runtime code (read-only).
Administrative Information Allows you to change the switch’s name/location/contact
information.
System Information Displays the IntraStack’s DRAM, Flash, and EEPROM size
(read-only).
Switch Address Allows you to configure the IntraStack’s IP Address, subnet
mask, and gateway (router) address.
Bootstrap Information Allows you to configure the IntraStack’s bootstrap parame-
ters used for loading the switch’s software at startup and for
downloading a new version of software when one is issued.
Traffic Monitoring Allows you to prepare the IntraStack for traffic monitoring by
an external traffic analyzer.
Security Configuration Allows you to enable the Duplicated-IP Trap and set the MAC
Age-Out Time.
System Clock Allows you to view and set the IntraStack’s clock.
Set Password Allows you to change the password needed to access the
IntraStack’s Local Management Interface (Console) and Web
Browser Management Page.
