Before using the Dictionary, please, read this operation manual thoroughly and be sure to follow the correct
operating procedures. Keep this operation manual for future reference.
• The Translator should be kept in areas free from extreme temperature changes, moisture and dust.
• A soft, dry cloth should be used to clean the Dictionary. Do not use solvents or a wet cloth for this purpose.
• This Dictionary is precision-built. Do not subject the device to strong shock by striking or dropping it.
• Do not place objects on the keyboard.
• Be sure that the positive (+) and negative (-) poles of each battery are facing in the proper direction.
• Never mix old batteries with new ones.
• Never disassemble or attempt to repair the Dictionary and its accessories.
• To avoid interference, do not place the Dictionary too close to a radio receiver, television or any other home
appliances which are powered. If there is interference to the Dictionary, it may not work properly and the
display may be not clear enough.
• When you switch off the Translator, please wait at least 10 seconds before switching on again otherwise it
may result in faulty operation and possible hardware damage.
• The Dictionary contains alkaline batteries which must be recycled or disposed properly.

2. The 2 languages of the PHRASE-BOOK are Russian and English. It contains also about 4 600 of useful
sentences voiced in 2 languages in total, each language has over 2 300 of common phrases.
3. 12 digit scientic CALCULATOR.
4. LOCAL TIME CLOCK species your local date and time. It will alarm you when you set up your BEEP
ALARM. 12-hour or 24-hour formats and Summer time can be specied.
5. WORLD TIME shows the date and time in any from 200 major cities in the world.

7. CURRENCY CONVERSION converts between 8 denominations of your choices.

1. Battery Fitting
The Translator uses 2×AAA batteries for power supply. If the battery status is low, replace 2×AAA alkaline
batteries immediately. The actual service life depends on the use of batteries. We recommend keeping the
following steps:
• Replace the 2×AAA batteries supplied with the unit not longer than 3 months after purchasing.
• Be sure that the positive and negative poles of each battery are facing the proper direction.
• Never mix batteries of different types.
• Never mix old batteries and new ones.
• Never leave dead batteries in the battery compartment.
2. Replacing the battery
a) Turn off the machine.
b) Slide off the battery door according the direction indicated by the arrow. The battery door joints the
translator case.
c) Remove the old batteries and install 2×AAA batteries in the correct polarity corresponding to the symbol
indicated inside the battery compartment.
d) Make sure that the batteries make a good contact with the metal plates.
e) Cover the battery door.

3) [MENU] – Press this button to enter the main menu. There is an icon menu and a text menu to
your choice, press [ESC] to get text menu.
4) [DICT] – Quick button for the main dictionaries. Press this key to change dictionaries between «English-
Russian»/«Russian-English»/«American Heritage®Dictionary».
5) [E.B.] – Quick button for Special dictionaries. Press this key to change dictionary between «English-
Russian dictionary of economics and nances»/«English-Russian Juridical dictionary»/
«English-Russian medical dictionary»/«Russian-English medical dictionary»/«English-
Russian dictionary of modern abbreviations».
6) [PHRASES] – Quick button for the Phrase-book.

22) [ZOOM] – In dictionary press this key to enlarge the font size.
23) [SPEAK] – Press this key to hear the voice under the Dictionary and Phrase-book modes.
24) [ENTER] – Press the key to conrm your choice or to enter the part of the Dictionary.

1. Switch on the Dictionary
To switch on the Dictionary press [ ]. The device always starts in
the mode that was active when it was last switched off. For example,
if you were in the calculator mode during the last use, you will be in
the calculator mode again when you switch the device again.
2. Operating main Menu
Press [MENU] button to enter the main Menu.
Press [LANG] to switch between English and Russian language of
interface.
The Menu may be displayed in icons and as a text. Press the [ESC]
key to switch between the icon menu and the text menu.
Example: The icon menu is like this:
Press the [ESC] key to switch to the text menu, and then display
shows:
Under the icon menu, press [

], [Æ] or the gure keys ([1], [2], [3], [4]) to select a different item. Press [▲]
or [▼]to select other page of the main Menu.

3. Using dictionaries
The device includes: English-Russian dictionary, Russian-English dictionary, American Heritage®Dictionary,
English-Russian dictionary of economics and nances, English-Russian juridical dictionary, English-Russian
medical dictionary, Russian-English medical dictionary, English-Russian of modern abbreviations, User’s
dictionary.
The vocabulary entry includes word item, part of paraphrase, phrase, example sentence, etc.
Press [LANG] to switch between English and Russian in User’s dictionary.
This dictionary has a jump search function. If a word or a phrase is
input, but the active dictionary can not search, then it will jump to
search in User’s dictionary. If translator still cannot nd the word or
phrase, it will give a nearest word or phrase according to your input.
The lookup means that preview measure, reverse searches are
included.
3.1. Preview
Enter the English-Russian dictionary and input «Good». Display
shows:
a) Press the [Ç], [È]key to choose the word, press [ENTER] to see
the explanation.

b) Press the [Ç], [È] key to scroll the content.
c) Press the [▲], [▼]key to scroll the pages.
d) Press the [
Å
], [Æ]key to see the previous and the next words.
e) If you want to input a new word, type in a new word directly.
If a word or a phrase is input, but the active dictionary can not search, then it will jump to search in User’s
dictionary. Example: The English-Russian dictionary doesn’t have «happy day», you can add «happy day» in E-R
User’s dictionary and give the word’s explanation. Then you input «happy day» in English-Russian dictionary, and
the dictionary will give you explanation.
Example:
Russian-English dictionary using is the same as English-Russian
dictionary.
3.2.Wordinections,synonyms,antonyms
This Dictionary has word inection display function. If the word on
the display has inections, synonyms, antonyms, etc., the symbol «F2» appears in the top right corner of the
display. Press button [F2] to see word inection, Synonym, Antonym in the dictionary mode.
If the word has several word inections, select the required one from the list and press [ENTER].
Press [ESC] to return to the previous screen.

3.3. Vocalization of the translation
a) Press the [SPEAK] key to listen to the voice. And the word
will backlight. Press [
Å
], [Æ]to choose another word, then press
[SPEAK] to listen the word of your choose.
b) Press [F1],then [
Å
],[Æ]key to choose some words or aphase in
translation.Then press [SPEAK] to listen to the voice. This DICTIONARY
can speak English only.
c) Under the dictionary mode, press [SPACE] to enter volume
adjustment mode. (See picture) Press [
Å
], [Æ]to adjust volume, and
then press [ENTER] to get back.
d) If you want to enter a new word, press the [ESC] key to exit the
backlight. And then input the new word.

3.4. ZOOM function
Under the dictionary mode press [ZOOM] to change the font size.
3.5. History
Under a dictionary mode press [SHFIT] and [ ] to display the history
of the dictionary.
