Safety instructions
Warning
• Make sure you are familiar with the operating in-
structions before you use this machine.
• Before making any adjustments (e.g. setting the
torque, changing bits or sockets) disconnect the
machine from the compressed air line.
• The machine, together with any attachments and
accessories, must never be used for anything other
than the designed purpose.
• Use power sockets only. For safe and economic
use - replace worn sockets.
• Check that the power socket is properly fastened
- replace the square drive retainer when necessary.
• Keep your ngers away from the power socket
during operation to avoid injury. Always work
with protective goggles.
•Avoid unnecessary idling, i.e. running the machine
unloaded (free speed).
• When using a suspension yoke, check that it is in
good condition and correctly fastened.
General information
General
The machine is designed for a working pressure (e)
of 6.3 - 7 bar (max.) = 630 - 700 kPa (90 - 102 psi).
If the compressed air line pressure is higher than
7 bar it is preferable reduced with a pressure regulat-
or of the type Atlas Copco REG.
The Atlas Copco Air Line Test equipment is suit-
able for checking of air pressure and airow at the
installation point (please see AirLine Accessories in
our main catalogue).
The machine can operate at a lower working
pressure. Maximum torque will be reduced at lower
pressures.
AIf frequent used for tightening or loosening
that need longer time than 3-5 seconds, a
larger wrench should be used. Otherwise the
servicelife of the impact mechanism will be
reduced.
To avoid pressure drop use recommended hosesize,
length, and connections. For more information please
read Atlas Copco Airline Installations, Ordering No.

TPlease make sure that the impact screwdriver
is only used for its intended purposes. In the
event of inappropriate use, impact sparks
can occur between the socket wrench and
the screw or nut to be tightened. It is there-
fore recommended that torque wrenches are
used exclusively. Before using the impact
screwdriver, please make sure that this tool
is not worn and that a perfectly tight-fitting
connection is assured between the screw-
driver and the screw or nut to be tightened.
Furthermore, it must also be assured that
there is a perfect tight-fitting connection
between the square drive pin of the screw-
driver and the square retainer of the torque
wrench. Furthermore, the impact screwdriver
must be earthed to the equipotential bonding
system of the workshop, for instance through
suitable accessories such as hoses and air-
pressure connections.
To avoid excessive increases in temperature,
the operator must ensure that the working
pressure does not exceed 6.3 bar. The impact
screwdriver may only be used for fitting and
dismantling work within the range of normal
screw cycles. It is not permitted to use the
screwdriver in constant operation (e.g. in-
stead of a compressed air motor).
National safety regulations must be properly
observed, if the tool is to be used in areas
that are subject to an explosion hazard. It is
the responsibility of the user to make sure
that all possible accessories for the tool,
such as wrenches and air connections, con-
form to the national safety regulations for
equipment used in potentially explosive
areas.
AMaintenance and repairs of the tool must be
carried out exclusively by authorised person-
nel, after which a no-load test of at least 10
minutes and temperature measurements
must be carried out and recorded in a report.
A maximum surface temperature of 135°C
may not be exceeded.

Installation
Air quality
•For optimum performance and maximum machine
life we recommend the use of compressed air with
a maximum dew point of +10°C. We also recom-
mend the installation of an Atlas Copco refrigera-
tion-type air dryer.
• Use a separate air lter of type Atlas Copco FIL.
This lter removes solid particles larger than 15
microns and also removes more than 90 % of li-
quid water. The lter must be installed as close
as possible to the machine/equipment and prior
to any other air preparation unit such as REG or
DIM (please see Air Line Accessories in our main
catalogue). Blow out the hose before connecting.
Models which need air lubrication:
• The compressed air must contain a small quantity
of oil.
We strongly recommend that you install an Atlas
Copco oil-fog lubricator (DIM). This should be
set according to air consumption by the air line
tool according to the following formula:
L= Air consumption (litre/s).
(May be found in our sales literature).
D= Number of drops per min (1 drop = 15 mm3)
L* 0.2 = D
this applies to the use of long work cycle air line
tools. A single point lubricator type Atlas Copco
Dosol can also be used for tools with short running
cycles.

Lubrication-free models:
• In the case of lubrication-free tools it is up to the
customer to decide on the peripheral equipment
to be used. However, it is no disadvantage if the
compressed air contains a small quantity of oil
e.g. supplied from a fog lubricator (DIM) or Dosol
system.
This does not apply to turbine tools, which should
be kept oil free.
Compressed air connection
• The machine is designed for a working pressure
(e) of 6–7 bar = 600–700 kPa = 87–102 psi.
• Blow out the hose before connecting.
Handling
Tightening torque
The torque obtained depends on air pressure and
tightening time on the actual joint. Extensions and
worn sockets will reduce the delivered torque. The
impact wrench should be used within the specied
torque range. Never use the machine over recommen-
ded maximum torque. Might result in improper
function and faster wear.
Test methods
A static torque measurement is recommended for
impact wrenches.
For test on hydraulic tension tester and for test on
joints.
Maintenance
Service instructions
Overhaul and preventive maintenance is recommen-
ded at regular intervals once per year or after maxim-
um 100.000 tightenings depending on which occurs
sooner. More frequent overhaul may be needed if
the machine is used in heavy-duty operations. If the
machine not is working properly, it should immedi-
ately be taken away for inspection.
The strainer at the air inlet and the exhaust silencer
should be cleaned frequently or replaced in order to
prevent clogging, which decreases the capacity.
At the overhauls, all parts should be cleaned accur-
ately and defective or worn parts (i.e. O-rings, vanes)
should be replaced.
It is important that the machines threaded connec-
tions are tightened properly; i.e. in accordance with
the specications on the exploded views. Before as-
sembly, lubricate the threads with grease.
AAll o-rings should be greased before assem-
bling.

Rust protection and internal cleaning
Water in the compressed air, dust and wear particles
cause rust and sticking of vanes, valves etc. An air
lter should be installed close to the machine (see
'Air quality'). Before longer standstills, ush with
oil (some drops) into the air inlet, run the machine
for 5-10 seconds when absorbing the oil in a cloth.

Sicherheitshinweise
Warnung
•Vor Inbetriebnahme des Geräts die Bedienungsan-
leitung sorgfältig lesen.
• Bevor irgendwelche Veränderungen vorgenom-
men werden (z.B. Einstellung des Drehmoments,
Austausch von Einsätzen oder Steckschlüsseln),
muß das Gerät von der Druckluftleitung getrennt
werden.
• Das Gerät und sein Zubehör dürfen nur für den
vorgesehenen Zweck verwendet werden.
• Nur geeignete Steckschlüssel verwenden. Für Si-
cherheit und Wirtschaftlichkeit müssen verschlis-
sene Steckschlüssel ausgetauscht werden.
•Kontrollieren, daß der Steckschlüssel ordnungsge-
mäß sitzt. Falls erforderlich, die Aufnahme für
den Innenvierkant austauschen.
• Während der Bedienung die Finger vom Steck-
schlüssel entfernt halten, um Verletzungen zu
vermeiden. Niemals ohne Schutzbrille arbeiten.
• Unnötigen Leerlauf vermeiden, z.B. das unbelas-
tete Gerät laufen lassen (Leerlauf).
• Bei Verwendung eines Aufhängebügels kontrol-
lieren, daß sich dieser in gutem Zustand bendet
und daß die Aufhängung einwandfrei ist.
Allgemeine Informationen
Allgemeines
Das Gerät ist für einen Betriebsdruck (e) von 6.3 -
7 bar (max.) = 630 - 700 kPa (90 - 102 psi) ausge-
legt.
Wenn der Druck in der Druckluftleitung höher als
7 bar ist, sollte er mit einem Druckregler Typ Atlas
Copco REG reduziert werden.
Die Druckluftleitungsprüfausrüstung von Atlas
Copco ist für die Kontrolle des Luftdrucks und der
Luftmenge an der Installationsstelle geeignet (siehe
Druckluftleitungszubehör in unserem Hauptkatalog).
Das Gerät kann bei niedrigerem Betriebsdruck
arbeiten. Das Höchstdrehmoment reduziert sich bei
niedrigerem Druck.
ABei ständiger Verwendung für Anziehen und
Lösen, das nicht länger als 3-5 Sekunden
dauert, sollte ein größerer Schlüssel verwen-
det werden. Andernfalls verringert sich die
Lebensdauer des Schlagwerks.
Um Druckabfall zu vermeiden verwenden Sie die
empfohlenen Schlauchgrößen, Schlauchlängen und
Anschlüsse. Für weitere Informationen lesen Sie

TEs ist darauf zu achten, dass der Schlag-
schrauber nur bestimmungsgemäß verwen-
det wird. Bei unsachgemäßer Anwendung
kann es zwischen dem Steckschlüssel und
der anzuziehenden Schraube bzw. Mutter zum
Auftreten von einzelnen Schlagfunken kom-
men. Daher dürfen nur Kraftsteckschlüssel
verwendet werden. Vor der Benutzung der
Schlagschrauber ist darauf zu achten, dass
diese nicht verschlissen sind und eine ein-
wandfreie formschlüssige Verbindung des
Kraftsteckschlüssels und der festzuziehen-
den Schraube bzw. Mutter gegeben ist. Dar-
über hinaus ist ebenfalls darauf zu achten,
dass eine einwandfreie formschlüssige Ver-
bindung von Antriebsvierkant des Schrau-
bers und Aufnahmevierkant des Kraftsteck-
schlüssels vorhanden ist. Des Weiteren muss
der Schlagschrauber durch geeignetes Zube-
hör z.B. Schläuche und Druckluftkupplungen
in den betrieblichen Potenzialausgleich ein-
gebunden (geerdet) sein.
Zur Vermeidung unzulässiger Temperaturer-
höhungen ist betreiberseitig sicherzustellen,
dass der Arbeitsdruck von 6,3 bar nicht
überschritten wird. Der Schlagschrauber darf
nur zu Montage - und Demontagetätigkeiten
im Rahmen üblicher Schraubzyklen verwen-
det werden. Ein Betrieb im Dauerlauf (z.B. als
Alternative zu einem Druckluftmotor) ist nicht
zulässig.
Bei Verwendung des Werkzeugs in explosi-
onsgefährdeten Bereichen müssen nationale
Sicherheitsbestimmungen ordnungsgemäß
beachtet werden. Es ist die Verantwortung
des Benutzers, sicherzustellen dass alle
möglichen Zubehöre zum Werkzeug, wie
Steckschlüssel und Luftleitungsinstallatio-
nen, mit den nationalen Sicherheitsregelun-
gen für Ausrüstung in explosionsgefährdeten
Bereichen, übereinstimmen.
ANach jeder Wartung oder Reparatur durch
autorisiertes Personal muss ein Leerlauftest
von 10 Minuten mit Temperaturmessung
durchgeführt und protokolliert werden. Eine
maximale Oberflächentemperatur von 135°C
darf nicht überschritten werden.

Installation
Luftqualität
•Für eine optimale Leistung und maximale Maschi-
nenlebensdauer empfehlen wir den Einsatz von
Druckluft mit einem Taupunkt von 10°C. Die In-
stallation eines Atlas Copco-Kühllufttrockners
wird empfohlen.
• Verwenden Sie einen separaten Luftlter vom
Typ Atlas Copco FIL. Dieser sorgt für die Abschei-
dung von Feststoffteilchen mit einer Größe über
15 Mikrometer sowie mehr als 90 % des üssigen
Wassers. Der Filter ist so nah wie möglich an der
Maschine/Ausrüstung und vor weiteren Luftauf-
bereitungseinheiten wie REG oder DIM zu instal-
lieren (siehe Luftleitungszubehör in unserem
Hauptkatalog). Den Schlauch vor dem Anschlie-
ßen ausblasen.
Modelle, die Luftschmierung erfordern:
• Die Druckluft muss mit einer kleinen Ölmenge
versetzt sein.
Wir empfehlen nachdrücklich die Installation eines
Atlas Copco-Nebelölers DIM. Dieser ist entspre-
chend des Luftbedarfs des Luftleitungswerkzeugs
unter Verwendung folgender Formel einzustellen:
L= Luftverbrauch (l/Sek.)
(Ziehen Sie die Verkaufsunterlagen zu Rate.)
D= Anzahl der Tropfen je Minute (1 Tropen =
15 mm³)
L* 0,2 = D
Dies gilt für den Einsatz von Werkzeugen mit
langen Arbeitszyklen. Alternativ kann ein Atlas
Copco-Einspritzöler vom Typ Dosol für Werkzeu-
ge mit kurzen Arbeitszyklen verwendet werden.
Hinweise zur Einstellung des Dosol-Ölers entneh-
men Sie den Angaben zum Luftleitungszubehör
in unserem Hauptkatalog.
Schmierungsfreie Modelle:
• Bei schmierfreien Werkzeugen, die auf Kunden-
wunsch bereitgestellt werden, ist es nicht nachtei-
lig, wenn die Druckluft eine geringe Ölmenge
enthält, die von einem DIM- oder Dosol-Öler ab-
gegeben wird.
Eine Ausnahme stellen Turbinenwerkzeuge dar,
für die ein ölfreier Betrieb gewährleistet werden
muss.
Druckluftanschluß
• Das Werkzeug ist für einen Betriebsdruck (e) von
6 - 7 bar = 600 - 700 kPa = 6–7 kp/cm2ausgelegt.
• Den Druckluftschlauch vor dem Anschließen
sorgfältig sauberblasen.
Bedienung
Drehmoment
Das erhaltene Drehmoment ist von Luftdruck und
Anziehzeit an der aktuellen Verbindung abhängig.
Verlängerungen und verschlissene Schlüssel verrin-
gern das erhaltene Drehmoment. Der Schlagschrau-
ber muß innerhalb des festgelegten Drehmomentbe-
reichs verwendet werden. Das Gerät unter keinen
Umständen über das empfohlene Höchstdrehmoment
hinaus verwenden. Das kann zu Fehlfunktionen und
schnellerem Verschleiß führen.
Prüfmethoden
Für Schlagschrauber wird eine statische Drehmoment-
messung empfohlen.
Für Prüfung am hydraulischen Spannungsprüfer
und für die Prüfung von Verbindungen.
Wartung
Serviceanleitung
Überholung und vorbeugende Wartung werden in
regelmäßigen Abständen einmal jährlich oder nach
maximal 100.000 Arbeitszyklen empfohlen, je nach
dem, was früher eintrifft. Häugere Überholung ist
erforderlich, wenn das Gerät in besonders beanspru-
chendem Einsatz ist. Wenn das Gerät nicht einwand-
frei funktioniert, sollte es zwecks Wartung außer
Betrieb genommen werden.
Das Sieb am Lufteinlaß und der Abluftlter sollten
häug gereinigt werden, da sie sich sonst zusetzen,

wodurch die Leistungsfähigkeit des Gerätes herabge-
setzt wird.
Bei den Überholungen müssen alle Teile sorgfältig
gereinigt und defekte oder verschlissene Teile (z.B.
O-Ringe, Lamellen) müssen ausgetauscht werden.
Es ist wichtig, das die Schraubverbindungen des
Geräts sorgfältig angezogen sind, d.h. entsprechen
den technische Daten in den Explosionszeichnungen.
Vor dem Zusammensetzen alle Gewinde mit Öl
schmieren.
AAlle O-Ringe müssen vor der Montage ge-
schmiert werden.

Rostschutz und Reinigung des Gerätein-
nenteils
Wasser in der Druckluft, Staub und Abnutzungspar-
tikel verursachen Rost und hohen Verschleiß von
Lamellen, Ventilen usw. Ein Luftlter sollte nahe
beim Gerät installiert werden (s. "Luftqualität"). Vor
einem längeren Stillstand Öl (einige Tropfen) in den
Lufteinlaß geben und das Gerät dann 5 -10 Sekunden
laufen lassen; das herauslaufende Öl in einem Tuch
auffangen.
