Please read this manual to help you optimize your experience
with your Athlon Midas G2 UHD PRO binocular. This manual
will tell you how to adjust your Athlon binocular for your eyes.
It will also show you how to use the features and accessories
for your binocular, and how to care for this optical instrument.
Read the instructions carefully before using your binocular.
In order to get the best possible performance from your
Athlon Midas G2 UHD PRO binocular, it is imperative to
follow the rst four steps in this manual.

STEP 1 -
EYECUP ADJUSTMENT
Your Athlon binocular has eyecups that can
twist up or down. These adjustments are for
ease of use, for the users comfort, to exclude
stray light, and so any viewer can see the full
eld of view. For users without eyeglasses, ad-
just the eyecups counterclockwise until they
lock into the full up position. This puts your
eyes naturally the right distance from the
eyepiece lens for the specic eye relief of the
binocular.
If you wear eyeglasses or are wearing sun-
glasses, make sure the eyecups are in the full
down position, this will allow your eyes to be
closer to the eyepiece lenses so you can see
the full eld of view. To adjust the eyecups
from up position, twist them clockwise. If for
some reason the best viewing for your eyes
has the eyecups located in between the full up
or down position, you may want to use an in-
termediate stop. See Figure 1.

STEP 2 - ADJUSTING DIOPTER,
RETICLE FOCUS, AND RETICLE LEVEL
These binoculars have a diopter (1), reticle
focus (2), a reticle level adjustment (3), and a
main focusing wheel (4). The diopter, reticle
focus, and reticle level will need to be adjust-
ed only once, before your rst use, to ensure a
clear reticle and image simultaneously.
•Cover the left objective lens and pick a tar-
get image to use throughout this process. An
image with ne details such as wording is
best. Use the main focus wheel to focus on
your target image.
(Once focused, do not move the main focus-
ing wheel for the following steps.)
•Uncover the left objective and cover the
right objective. Observing the same target
image, adjust the diopter until your image is
sharp and clear. Figure 2

•To adjust your reticle focus, choose a new target image that
is blank such as a wall or a clear blue sky. Adjust the main
focus until your target image (background) is out-of-focus.
Rotate the reticle focus until the reticle becomes sharp and
clear. Once completed, you’ll only need to adjust your main
focus during typical use.
•Your interpupillary distance can affect the reticle level. To
compensate, adjust the reticle level by aligning your reticle to
a leveled target image or the horizon.

STEP 3 - INTERPUPILLARY
DISTANCE (IPD) ADJUSTMENTS
The distance between the center of your pupils
of your left and right eyes is called “Interpu-
pillary distance” (IPD). The IPD is different for
each person. To achieve perfect alignment of
lens to your eyes, you must match the IPD of
your binoculars to that of your eyes so that you
see a single image free from shading edge to
edge. Follow these simple steps:
•Hold the binocular to your eyes as if you
were going to use them to look at something
in the distance.
•Move the binocular barrels closer together
or further apart until they line up with your
eyes and you see a single full circle. Make
sure to reset this adjustment every time you
use your binoculars. See Figure 3.

STEP 4 -
USING THE RETICLE
THE ATHLON® ATBR MIL RETICLE
ATBR MIL reticle is designed to assist shoot-
ers and spotters in providing shooting cor-
rections as well as the ability to perform
milliradian ranging of targets. The .2 mil
open-center crosshair provides a ne focal
point to center your target. The hashmarks
are spaced in .2 mil increments out to 5 mils
to provide accurate measurements and cor-
rection values.

differently among different models due to different
magnication and location of the reticle.

RETICLE SUBTENSIONS
The ATBR MIL reticle is based on the milliradian,
usually shortened to mrad or mil. A “mil” is dened
as “one thousandth”, or 1/1000. A mil is 1/1000 of
a radian ( a unit of angular measurement). Since
there are 6.2832 radians in a circle, and each ra-
dian is chopped up into a thousand pieces, there
are 6.2832 x 1000 = 6,283.2 mils in a circle. Since
there are 360 degree in a circle, we can get 360 de-
gree/6,283.2 mils=0.573 degree/mil. If the target is
100 yards ( 3600 inches) away, we can use 3600 Tan
(.0573 degree) to get 3.6 inches which means 1mil
equals to 3.6 inches at 100 yards
The ATBR MIL reticle values are always valid as
the binoculars are non-variable xed magnica-
tion.

HOW TO
ATTACH A NECKSTRAP
First align the strap with the plastic buckle po-
sitioned as shown below. Thread a few inches
of strap straight down through the binocular
attachment lug. Then thread the strap through
the back of the buckle. You can then adjust
the strap to the correct length by adjusting the
buckle up or down. See Figure 4.
TRIPOD MOUNT
Your Athlon binocular has a tripod adapter
socket under the Athlon circle logo plate in the
objective end of the center hinge. The threads
in the socket are a ¼-20 thread, standard on
most tripod adaptors.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE
Your Athlon binocular will provide you with a lifetime of ser-
vice if you take good care of them and follow these simple in-
structions:
1. Avoid banging and dropping.
2. Store in a cool, dry place.
CLEANING
•Remove or blow away any dust or grit from lenses by using a soft
lens brush or “canned air”.
•Use a microber cloth to remove skin oil and ngerprints.
Breathe on the lenses and then clean in a circular motion.
•For tougher smudges on lenses you may need to use a lens
cleaning uid.
•Never use facial tissue, heavy or dirty material to clean lens-
es as they may scratch the lens surface.
CAUTION: never look directly at the sun with your binocular
as it may cause serious damage to your eyes.
