Atlantis Power Supply
Part Number: A-15600-PS
Overview
The Atlantis A-15600-PS Power Supply has been specifically designed to be the interface between a Keyence
Ultrasonic Clamp-On Flow Meter and a Walchem I6 or I9 controller or directly to various chemical metering
pumps. The board can also be used for various other sensors where 24VDC power is required. The selectable
Relay or Pulse output mode allows the device to operate as a flow switch or a pulse output flow meter. The 4-
20mA output of the sensor is also passed through to output terminals for easy connection to a controller or
pump.

metering pump by a Keyence flow meter. This method allows for a flow pacing analog signal and an on/off relay
signal to be transmitted from the Keyence flow meter through the power supply onto the pump. The second
use case connects the Keyence meter to a Walchem controller. The flow rate and totalizer values can be
monitored and recordedin the Walchem controller and if desiredtheWalchem controllercan be used to control
the speed and status of a pump.

Use Case #1 –Keyence Flow Meter to Chemical Metering Pump
In this use case the A-15600-PS power supply can be configured with a variety of different output cables
depending on the pump being controlled. The next sections show the wiring diagrams for the standard
configurations and the part numbers corresponding to each setup. The programming instructions for the
Keyence flow meter are the same for all configurations shown for this use case. The Keyence settings are
as follows:

Generic Non-Proportional Pump
This configuration does not control the speed of the pump in any way. The only controlled output is a
120V pigtail that can be used to provide the pump with the necessary power to run. The 120V output is
energized when the Keyence meter flow reading is higher than the switching setpoint set on the Keyence
meter’s front screen.

Use Case #2 –Keyence Flow Meter to Walchem Controller
Transmitting the flow rate of a Keyence flow meter to a Walchem Controller can be done using the 4-
20mA output or the Pulse type digital output. On the older W600 controllers, the 4-20mA input could not
be programmed as a flow meter input and instead was programmed as a generic analog input. This works
well for monitoring the flow rate, but in this configuration the Flow Proportional outputs and Flow
Totalizer cannot be used. For this configuration the Pulse output of the Keyence flow meter and Atlantis
power supply can be used.
Keyence Analog Input to Walchem W600/900 or Intuition 6/9 Controller
The 4-20mA Out wiring from the Atlantis Power Supply can be wired into any of the analog input cards on
a Walchem controller. The analog input type is a 2-Wire Powered. Refer to Walchem’s documentation
for wiring diagrams. Make sure the 20mA value for the analog input matches the A-Hi value set on the
Keyence Flow meter.
Keyence Pulse Input to Walchem W600/900 or Intuition 6/9 Controller
The pulsing output of the Keyence meter can be passed through the Atlantis Power Supply to the Digital
Input of a Walchem controller. On the W600 controller this is required to get a Flow Meter type input.
This can be a useful feature on all controllers though when the number of available analog inputs is
limited. The Walchem digital input can be programmed as a Paddlewheel FM with the K Factor set to the
inverse of the Keyence’s Integrated Flow Unit (TTL) setting. The K Factor is entered as pulses / gal. The
Keyence’s TTL setting is the amount of gallons / pulse.

NOTE: The minimum frequency for a Paddlewheel FM type
digital input is 0.17Hz (about 1 pulse ever 6 seconds). Make
sure the Keyence settings do not result in a pulse slower
than this value or the input will not work.
