App Guide
Z Series
Overview
Thank you for purchasing the AtlasIED Z Series High Definition Acoustical System. The iOS®and Android®Apps are optional tools with many powerful
features. This guide is an overview of the basic functions currently available and describes how to use the Z Series App with a Z2 / Z4 base unit or
Z-SIGN. Visit the App Store, Google Play Store, and AtlasIED.com for updates.
The Z Series App can be used to turn the Enhanced Speech Privacy function on and off, and also adjust Level and EQ settings when in BT range by
connecting to the Z2 / Z4 base unit. The Z Series App can also connect to a Z-SIGN in order to adjust settings when at a longer distance from the
Z2 / Z4 base unit. The Z-SIGN acts as a data transceiver bridge connecting the mobile device to the Z2 / Z4 base unit.
The Z-SIGN incorporates BLE®communication technology for pairing to a mobile device for short distance data communication (not streaming audio)
and uses 915MHz ISM Band to transmit longer distances to a Z Series unit. Using the mobile Z Series App allows for remote control and monitoring of
the Z Series system and can assist in setting up levels when in zones. Note: Response is best when connected directly to the Z2 / Z4 base unit. Using
the Z-SIGN as a data bridge adds short delays of system control and status response time (typically <1sec).

• Activates Z System Enhanced Speech Privacy function
• Adjust music, paging, and masking levels per zone
• Assist in setup of EQ music, paging, and masking per zone
• Allows selection of the Z-SIGN Operating Mode settings
• Provides information about the FW Version and ID of Z Series base unit and Z-SIGN
• Shows battery level of Z-SIGNs

Application Setup
Download the Z Series App from the App Store or Google Play Store.
Open the App. Make sure Bluetooth®is enabled on the
mobile device.
This figure shows three Z Series
devices that have been discovered.
Two of the devices have the same ID
number. If multiple devices share the
same ID number, they are linked to
the same Z Series base unit. In this
example, one device is the Z Series
base unit and the other is a Z-SIGN
that has not been renamed. While the
mobile App is able to connect to either
device, it is recommended to connect
to the device with the stronger signal.
Note: The third device may be located
in a different room. It is important to
first look at the Z2 / Z4 base unit display
and locate its ID number to match it to
a device in the discovery list.
The connect page scans for Z Series
devices and displays their signal level. If
a Z Series device is connected (in use)
with another device, it will not show as
available.
The App scans for available Z Series
devices when first opened, and will
automatically connect to any devices
it was previously connected to. When
connecting for the first time, select
NO and tap the Link icon to open the
connect page.
Tap the check box to connect to the
device. Note: A battery icon will appear
when connected to a Z-SIGN.

The Info page will show if the device is
a Z Series base unit or Z-SIGN. If it is a
Z-SIGN, the firmware revision and
paired base unit will be listed. To
physically identify the Z-SIGN, press
the "Find Me" button and the connected
Z-SIGN will flash green.
Tap the Z Series ID to open the
Info page.
The three selections at the bottom of
the Info page are used to configure
the Z-SIGN operating modes. Note:
When using multiple Z-SIGNs, each
sign needs to be selected individually in
order to configure the operating modes.
1. Green - Start EHP by Z-SIGN Only (Default) - This mode is best for using a Z-SIGN as a stand alone single sign. When pressing the Z-SIGN
Activation button, it wakes and transmits to the Z Series base unit. The Z Series base unit responds back and starts the Z-SIGN speaker wave pulse
indicating the EHP function is operating. After pressing the Z-SIGN Activation button to stop the EHP, the Z-SIGN switches off to save battery life.
(Best Battery Life)
Note: In this mode using the App activation button will only turn Off the EHP when the Z-SIGN is On. It will not turn it On when the Z-SIGN is in Sleep
mode.
2. Yellow - Start EHP by Sign or App - This mode allows the Z-SIGN to stay in an “App-ready” mode. In addition to using the Z-SIGN Activation button,
the Z Series iOS®or Android®App can also wake the Z-SIGN to transmit to the Z Series base unit. The App and Z-SIGN work interactively.

3. Red - Start EHP by Multiple Signs or App Interactively - In this mode the Z-SIGN stays in “ready” mode to receive both BLE®from the App and
UHF from the Z Series base unit. This mode is used when multiple Z-SIGNs are needed. In this mode, all Z-SIGNs and App work interactively together.

Type the name and Save. The new
name will now show in the bottom
“Connected to:” window.
The name of the connected Z device
can be changed by tapping on the icon
and entering the password.
The App can also be used to mute
or adjust levels and EQ in each zone.
Tap on speaker icon and enter the
password.
When the App is re-launched, it will
auto-connect to this Z device.
Note: This connection does not affect
the streaming audio connection.
Streaming audio is separate and can
only be paired to a Z2 or Z4 when in
BT range.
Select the desired parameter to adjust
and the settings page will open.
The settings page allows the user to
mute or adjust levels and EQ in each
zone. All four volume pages are the
same.
