Volume control

Power

AC

Rear
panel
controls
Volume
The volume control
is
for matchingthe subwoofervolume
to
the
level
of
yourspeakers. The best advice we can give on volume
levels
is
to
adjust forthe strongest
bass
without
being "boomy''.
Note
that
the
S6
volume controls the
S6
subwoofer level only and
does
not
control the
input
volume.
In
otherwords the overall
system volume
is
controlled from your music source.
Low-pass
crossover
The crossover control
is
used
to
set the subwoofer high frequency
cutoff point, which
is
the
point
at which the subwoofertransitions
to
yourspeakers. For example, ifthe crossover control
is
set
to
the
SO
Hz
mark then the sub will play all frequencies up
to
50Hz.
All frequencies from
SO
Hz
and higherwill then be played by the
speakers. Fine-tune the crossover setting by ear forthe smooth-
est blend with your main speakers. There really are no right
or
wrongsetting
so
don't
hesitate
to
experiment
to
find the sound
that
works for yoursetup.
Phase
switch
Phase
is
the degree
to
which the subwoofer and otherspeakers
are moving atthe same time. Once you have chosen a location
for your
S6,
try movingthe phase switch while you listen for the
most
bass.
Sometimes no difference will
be
heard, which
is
OK
as
there's no correct phase setting and
it
is
not
uncommon forthe
subwoofer
to
sound similar at each setting depending on your
room and sub location.
Inputs
The
two
audio inputs (3.5mm mini-jack and
RCA
Left/Right) are
line-level inputs for connecting
an
output
or
sub
out
of
your
music
source
(AV
receiver, preamp, powered speakers, etc.) into the
S6.
Both inputs are open
or
active,
so
you can connect
two
different
sources at the same
time
if
desired.
LFE
input
If
your
preamp
or
AV
receiver has
an
LFE
(Low Frequency Effects)
output,
use the single Left/LFE
input
on the
S6
rear panel.
Standby
auto
on/off
switch
If"Auto on"
is
selected,
S6
will automatically enterStandby
mode
after
15
minutes
if
no signal
is
detected duringthis time. Changing
the switch
to
"Off"disables this feature.
Power
on/Standby indicator
This indicatorwill be
GREEN
when
an
input
signal
is
present (when
music
is
playing) and
AMBER
when no signal
is
present. The
S6
will
automatically enterStandby
mode
after
15
minutes
if
no signal
is
detected duringthis
time
.
Placement
We
think
you'll find the
S6
to
be
forgiving with regards
to
room
placement and settings.
So
ifyou're
not
an
audio expert
don't
be
intimidated
as
there really
is
no right
or
wrong room placement. Try
different locations while listening
to
music
to
get
an
idea
of
howthe
location affects the sound.
Wireless
option
Ifyou need
to
locate your
S6
away from yourspeakers
or
music system
check
out
the Audioengine
W3
wireless adapters. The
S6
has a built-in
power
port
on the rear panel that's perfect for poweringthe
W3
wireless
receiver.
Cleaning
We
don't
recommend using any solvents
or
cleaners. Justwipe down the
cabinets with a soft,
dry
cloth.
