Owner's Manual
TheAudionet-Teamwould liketo congratulateyou for purchasing the
‘ART’.
We recommend to readtheowners manualvery carefully so you areable
to useall thefeaturesof the‘ART’ and nothing could detractfromthe
musicexperience.
Included in thepackageare:
§onetransport/player Audionet ‘ART’
§oneremotecontrol ‘ART’
§onelow resonance stabiliser madeof black POM
§onestandard power cord.
Pleasedo only transport the‘ART’ within theincludedpackage.Never
leaveaCD or thestabiliser in the’ART’ whiletransporting.

TheART
‘ART’ means AlignedResonance Transport. Constructing, building and
designing the‘ART’ hasbeencharacterisedby theprinciplesof analog
transport techniques.
‘ART’ is adirectdrivenmass transport and usesamagneticstabiliserfor
smooth rotation of theCompact Disc.
The‘ART's’ baseconsists of aheavy granitestoneplateweighing ten
kilogramson whichtheelectroniccomponents and theclockcircuit are
mountedfloating aswell. Thehousing is madeof awoodentop coated
with greysynthetics(NEXTEL) and a2mm steelchassis thatbenefits of
theresonance defeating mass of thegraniteplatefor stability and smooth
performance.
‘ART's’ weight is approx. eight teenkilograms. Theclockgenerator is
mountedfloating asprotection fromresonancesto provideamaximumof
independence of theinternalclockfromouternoisesources. As aresult
‘clock jitter’ is avoided at theroot.
Thepickup unit is mountedwithin a5mm thickmill-cut aluminiumplate
and fixed by high tension polyester straps within thewooden top.
Thedisplayof the‘ART’ is avacuumfluorescent displaythatis emitting
ared light. In rooms with low ambient light best results will beachieved.
Thedisplaywill informyou about thecurrent stateof the‘ART’ i.e.the
tracknumberand thetimeposition of thecurrent trackin minutesand
seconds etc
Pleaseallow the‘ART’ to adapt to theclimaticconditions atyour room
aftertransport. As known for every opticaldevice cold and humidity can
leadthemcoveredin condensation. Leavethetop of the‘ART’ openfor
several hours beforeswitching on thefirst timeafter transport.
Pleasealways useasoft, lint-free cloth for cleaning the‘ART’.

Installation und Anschluß
The‘ART’ should beplacedonto ahigh quality rackor stabletable.
Avoid exposureto directsunlight. Do not place the‘ART’ closerangeto
loudspeakers or atacornerof theroombecausein this placesthemaxi-
mumsound energy is to befound.
Audionet‘ART’ hasto beplacedhorizontalfor achieving theoptimal
sound results. Pleasecheck this using aspirit-level.
Usetheincludedpowercord to connectthepowersocketto your wall
socket. As being aCLASS I device the‘ART’ needs to beearthed.
Internally the‘ART’ hasseparatepowersuppliesfor thedigitaland the
analog section eachusing two 50VA toroid transformers with several
voltagestabilisers and fast discretevoltageregulators for acleanpower
supply of thetransport unit and theD/A conversion unit.
Theanalog outputs canbefound atthebackpanelof the‘ART’. They
providethemusicin analog format.
Connectyour ‘ART’ to apreor main amplifierusing high quality cinch
connections.
Thedigitalto analog conversion unit is equippedwith adigitalsignal
processor (DSP)whichis usedfor oversampling filtercalculations. You
havethechoice betweentwo distinguisheddigitalfilters. Usetheswitch
called ‘digital filter’ at theback panel.
With theswitchbeing in position ‘Audionet’adigitalfilterwill becal-
culatedwith short rush in timeand long decaying. This hastheeffectof a
short transient timethough achieving anexcellent amplitudeand phase
linearity up to 20kHz.
Whilein position ‘Lagrange’theimpulseresponseof thedigitalfilteris
symmetrically. Transient and decaytimeareboth very short leading to a
frequency responsewith aslight amplitudedegrading above16kHz.

We recommend to chosetheappropriatefilterdueto individuallisting
preferences.
Theoutput panelof the‘ART’ offers you all important digitaloutput
standards for tonal relevance.
You havethefollowing possibilitiesto connectadigitalto analog con-
verter:
§RCA: Cinch connection coaxial cord 75 Ohms
§AES/ EBU: Balanced connection 110 Ohms
§BNC: BNC connection with coaxial cord 75 Ohms
Theoutputs areelectrically independent towards each other providing the
opportunity to comparedifferent cords easily.
In caseof connecting anexternaldigitalto analog converterpleaseask
your dealer for ahigh quality digital cord.
Using this cord you connectthe‘ART’ (digitaloutputs) with your D/A
converter(digitalinputs). Theposition of theswitchsigned‘digitalfil-
ter’ atthebackpaneldoesnot interferewith thedigitaldatastreamatthe
digital outputs.
If you areusing the‘ART’ only asCD-Player,i.e.using only theanalog
outputs, you cancompletely switchoff thedigitaloutputs by putting the
switch‘Outputs’ into theposition ‘off’. This avoids sending out high
frequency interferences leading to abetter sound.

Operating
Now you switchon the‘ART’ by pushing the‘Power’- button attheleft
of thefront panel. Thedisplay at thefront lightens up and shows ‘disc’.
Push thetop to thebackand put aCD onto thespinning axis of the
ART’. Fix it with theprovidedstabiliser. Thenclosethetop and the
‘ART’ will readautomatically theinformation trackof theCD and dis-
plays number of tracks and total playing time.
You cannow start playbackwith theremotecontrol or the‘Play’ button
at thefront panel
You cancomfortably control theAudionet‘ART’ atyour listening posi-
tion with theprovidedIR remotecontrol. Thebatteriesareto befound
beneath aremovableplateatthebackside.Two batteriesof thetype
‘MIGNON’ areused.
Thefollowing functions areaccessiblewith thecorresponding buttons of
theremotecontrol:
1. dim:to control thebrightness of thedisplay (four levels).
2. 0...9: usebuttons to select and play back atitledirectly.
3. ñ: starts playbackimmediately. Pushing this button while
playback restarts theactual track at its beginning.
4. |<< , >>| : skip to thenext or previous title.Also beusedto select

This operation fits tracks into aspecifiedlength whilekeeping thetracks
in their original order.
1. Press ‘edit’ button in stop modeto light up ‘edit’ indicator. Thetape
recording timedisplay (90 min.) appears.
2. Specify therecording timeof thetapeusedusing thenumericbuttons
(0..9). Thetracks fitting on tapesideAareindicatedby bars above
and thetracks to fit on tapesideBareindicatedby bars below the
track number.
3. Press ‘play’ button. The‘peak’ indicator lights up and theautomatic
peaklevelsearchoperation starts fromtracknumber1. Aftertheauto

Tuning
Nowadays interestedlisteners experiencedtonaldifferencesin using dif-
ferent analog, digitaland powercords. In orderto increasethevalueof
your ‘ART’ you havetheopportunity to usehigh performance signal
cords. We strongly recommend using them. Also themusicalexperience
is influencedby theuseof high quality powercords and powersupply
filters. Thepossibilities arenot limited.
Audionetoffers you theright powercord to increasethesound of your
‘ART’. This powercord hasawidediameter, shieldedagainst high fre-
quencyinfluencesand hasahigh immunity to microphonicinfluence.
You canpurchasethis powercord called‘Audionet APC’(Audionet
Power Cord) at your local Audionet dealer.
