This AURAY product is warranted to the original purchaser to be free

from defects in materials and workmanship under normal consumer use

for a period of one (1) year from the original purchase date or thirty (30)

days after replacement, whichever occurs later. The warranty provider’s

responsibility with respect to this limited warranty shall be limited solely to

repair or replacement, at the provider’s discretion, of any product that fails

during normal use of this product in its intended manner and in its intended

environment. Inoperability of the product or part(s) shall be determined by

the warranty provider. If the product has been discontinued, the warranty

provider reserves the right to replace it with a model of equivalent quality

and function.

This warranty does not cover damage or defect caused by misuse, neglect,

accident, alteration, abuse, improper installation or maintenance. EXCEPT

AS PROVIDED HEREIN, THE WARRANTY PROVIDER MAKES NEITHER ANY

EXPRESS WARRANTIES NOR ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING

with speciﬁc legal rights, and you may also have additional rights that vary

To obtain warranty coverage, contact the Auray Customer Service

Department to obtain a return merchandise authorization (“RMA”) number,

and return the defective product to Auray along with the RMA number and

proof of purchase. Shipment of the defective product is at the purchaser’s

own risk and expense.

Attaching the Microphone

1. Attach a shock mount or microphone clip

to the threaded stud of the smaller 5/8"

adapter that extends above the sliding

mounting bracket. 4

2. Once you are sure it is securely attached,

you can insert the microphone into the

shock mount or mic clip.

Adjusting the RF-CPB-18 to the Microphone

For the RF-CPB-18 to be the most eective, the microphone diaphragm

should be as close to the shield as possible, and it ideally should be

centered vertically. Before adjusting the position of the shield, remove

the microphone from the shock mount or mic clip and set it aside on a

secure surface. To adjust the position of the shield, do the following:

1. Slightly loosen the locking wheel and slide

the shield to the desired distance from the

microphone. 5

2. Once the shield is in place, securely

tighten the locking wheel and return the

microphone to the shock mount or clip.

To adjust the height of the shield, do the

following:

1. Release the adjusting lock on the back of

the shield by sliding it up approximately

1/2" until it clicks. 6

2. Lift the shield to extend the adjustment rail

to the desired height.

3. Lock the shield into place by pressing the

adjusting lock down until it clicks into its

original position.

4. After making sure the RF-CPB-18 is secure, return the microphone to

the shock mount or clip.

Desktop recording

The RF-CPB-18 is ideal for desktop recording applications like

voiceovers, broadcasting and podcasting. For the best desktop recording

results with the RF-CPB-18, use a desktop mic stand with a weighted

metal base to ensure stability of your microphone and reﬂection ﬁlter.

To attach the RF-CPB-18 to a desktop microphone stand, follow the

directions for assembling and mounting on page 4.

Introduction

Thank you for choosing Auray.

Congratulations on your purchase of the Auray RF-CPB-18 Reﬂection Filter.

This lightweight and sturdy reﬂection ﬁlter is an ideal solution for any

recording application where microphone isolation is needed. Designed for

use in studios, acoustically untreated rooms, and desktop recording, the

RF-CPB-18 absorbs and diuses external noise and room reﬂections to create

a drier and closer sound that provides cleaner vocal tracks.

High-density open-cell acoustic foam minimizes room ambiance, and the

curved shape of the shield ensures clean and dry vocals. Locking adjustable

brackets and sturdy metal mounting hardware provide easy height and

depth adjustment and ensure that the shield will be at the precise height and

distance from the microphone for optimum results. Standard 5/8" threaded

adapters ﬁt most microphone clips and shock mounts, making the

RF-CPB-18 compatible with most mic stands. The durable ABS plastic frame

is lightweight yet rigid, making the RF-CPB-18 portable and able to withstand

the rigors of transportation.

Instructions

Assembling the RF-CPB-18

1. On a ﬂat surface, place the shield upside

down with the foam side toward you so

that the threaded stud on the edge of the

shield points up. 1

2. Place the sliding mounting bracket over

the threaded mount of the shield so that

the rim of the plastic surrounding the stud

ﬁts snuggly into the slot of the sliding

mounting bracket.

3. Place the washer over the sliding mounting bracket and threaded

stud, and screw in the locking wheel.

Mounting the RF-CPB-18 onto a Microphone Stand

1. Securely screw in the large 5/8" adapter

onto the threaded stud of your mic stand.

If the mic stand already has a star nut or

ﬂange, you can use it instead of the large

5/8" adapter described in this step.

2. Turn the shield assembly upright, and

place the slot of the sliding mounting

bracket over the threaded stud of the large

5/8" adapter. Make sure the shield faces

the adapter.

3. Secure the sliding mounting bracket and

shield assembly to the threaded stud with

the small 5/8" adapter by screwing it onto

the threaded stud of the large 5/8" adapter.

If the star nut is supporting the sliding mounting bracket, secure it

with the large 5/8" adapter.

4. Attach the mic stand nut to the threaded stud.

5. Before proceeding make sure all connections are secure and the

RF-CPB-18 is not unstable on the mic stand.
