Conversion type
Panelvanconversionwithtwoberths,andthreeseatsdesignatedforusewhilstthe

Referringtoyourbasevehiclemanual,checkallfluidlevelsincludingautomotivefuel
andtyrepressures.Remembertocheckthatyoursparetyreisoftherecommended
pressure.
Ensurethat,onmodelsfittedwithanelevatingroof,theroofissecurelylockeddown
with, whenfitted,theexteriorcatchesapplied.
WHILST DRIVING
Whilstthevehicleisbeingdrivenensurethat:
Seatbeltsarewornbyboththepassengeranddriver- thisisa legalrequirement.
Heavyloadsarenotstoredintopcupboardsorinareasfromwhichtheymaybecome
detached.

WHEN YOU GET THERE
Connection Of Services
230 Volt - Electrical Mains Hook-Up.
Beforeconnectingtothemains,checkthatthevehicleRCDisswitched"OFF".Uncoil
thecabletopreventoverheatingandconnecttothevehicleendfirstthenthemains
outlet.Thefollowingshouldthenbecarriedout:
i.SwitchthemainisolatorswitchoftheRCD"ON".
ii. Pressthetestbutton(locatedadjacenttoRCDswitch).Thisshouldcause
themainswitchtotrip.
iii. Returnmainswitchto"ON"position.
iv.SwitchtheremainingMCB'stotheUPposition,(ON).The230vsystems
shouldnowbeoperational.
v.MCB'sarenumberedasfollows:
MCB1 -10amps.230voltsocketoutlets.
MCB2-6amps.Refrigerator,batterycharger
andwaterheater(iffitted).

Pleasebeawarethatthe12voltappliances,excepttherefrigerator,willnotoperate
whilsttheignitionisswitchedonandthevehicleenginerunning.Tne12voltsupplyis
controlledbythemasterswitchontheelectricalcontrolpanel.
Gas Appliances
Themainisolationvalveforthegassystemissituatednexttothegasregulatorinthe
gaslockerandshouldalwaysbeturnedoffwhenthevehicleisinmotion.Whenthegas
appliancesarerequiredturnonthecylindervalveandalltheindividualappliance
isolationvalves.

Water System
Thewaterpumpiscontrolledbythemasterswitchintheelectricalcontrol
panel. Whenthewatersystemisnotrequired,thepumpshouldbe
switchedoff.Ifthepumpisnotswitchedoffthesystemwillremain
pressurisedandthepumpwillcycleperiodicallytomaintainthatpressure.
Thefreshwatertankisfilledthroughthelockablecapontheexteriorof
thevehicle.

GENERAL
ThedesignoftheTopazgivestwoinwardfacingseatsandoneforwardfacingseatin
therearofthevehicle.Inaddition,bothcabseatsarefullyadjustableandfittedwith
swivelmechanisms.
SEA TING ARRANGEMENTS
Cab Seats
Boththeupholsteredcabseatsarefittedwithheadrests(armrestsarenotavailableon
thismodel).Foreandaft movementcanbeachievedbyliftingthelockingcatchonthe
frontoftheseatandslidingtheseattotherequiredposition.Bothseatshavereclining
backrests,adjustmentbeingbyuseoftheknobsadjacenttothecabwalkway.
•JWP/EL MECHANISMS
Thedriverandpassengerseatsmay beswivelledbyliftingtheadjustmenthandlefound
attheoutersideoftheseatboxandrotatingtheseattotherequiredposition.The
swivelwillautomaticallylockintoeithertheforwardorrearwardfacingposition.
Beforeswivellingthedriver'sseatengagefirstgearandreleasethehandbrake.Alter
thepitchofthedriversseatbackresttoensurethatthisclearsthesteeringwheelwhen
theseatisswivelled.Swiveltheseatanti-clockwiseuntilthebackresttouchesthe
steeringwheelthenslidetheseatforwardsuntilthebackrestclearsthesteeringwheel.
Caremustbetakentoensurethat,whilstswivellingthecabseats,thattheslide
mechanismisnotallowedtocomeintocontactwith,andtodamage,thepassenger
c'oortrims.

Ensurethatthepassengercabseatswivelmechanismislockedintheforwardfacing
positionbeforemovingoff.
TABLES
Twotablesaresupplied.A smalltable,forusewiththecrankedtableleg,isstowed
behindthebackrestofthenearsideforwardfacingseat.Itshouldbestowedwiththe
tablebaseplacedintherecess.Thecrankedstainlesssteeltablelegisstoredinthe
drawerundertheoffsidebedbox.A largetableisstoredbehindtheoffsidesettee
backrest.Theleg,forusewiththistable,isstoredinthecompartmentimmediately
belowthenearsidehightopwindow.
Whenthetablesarerequired,thelegsshouldfirstbeplacedintheappropriatefloor
mountingandthetablethenplaceduponthem.Whennotinuse,thefloormounting
holeshouldbefittedwiththeappropriatebung.Thetablesandlegsmustbestored
whenthevehicleisinmotion.
KITCHEN AREA
Thekitchenareaissituatedattherearofthevehicleimmediatelyforwardofthe
showerdoors.Ontheoffsideisthestainlesssteelsinkanddrainerunit.Beneaththe
sinkanddrainerisa fullwidthstoragecompartmentandthegas/12volt/240volttilt
tolerantElectroluxRM4213refrigerator.Thisincorporatesa freezercompartmentandis
fittedwithelectronicignitionandflamefailure.
Immediatelytotherightoftherefrigeratorisa smallslidingstoragecompartment
suitableforthestorageofbottlesandsmallconsumables.
Ontheoffside,oppositethesinkandrefrigeratorunitisthetwo-burnercooker/grill.To

slidingdoors,orviathereartailgateofthevehicle.OnthenearsideistheThetford
Cassettetoiletbehindwhichisa storagecompartment.Abovethetoiletisa dropdown
handbasinwithhotandcoldrunningwateranda soapdispenseropenedbya plastic
keyonkeyring.
Adjacenttothehandbasinistheshowerheadandtapassembly,abovewhichisa vanity
unit,suitableforsoapsandtoiletries.

Afull-lengthshowercurtainaffordsfurtherprivacyasdoesa blind/flyscreenandcurtain
fittedtotherearwindow.A rooflight,withflyscreenisfitted;a twintubefluorescent
lightisalsofittedanda foambackedboundfloorcarpetpreventsdamagetothe
[showerfloorwhennotinuse.
Intheeventofthedropdownhandbasincatchmentbowlbecomingblocked,the
obstructionmay beremovedbyremovingthehandbasinbowl.Thisisachievedby
liftingthebowloutwardsandupwardsfromits hingepinrecessesthusgivingaccessto
theobstruction.
Thegascompartmentventsmustbekeptclearofforeignmatteratalltimesandshould
beregularlycheckedforblockagesordebris.Gasbottlesmustonlybestoredandused
inan uprightposition.
Whenthevehicleisinmotion,theshowerslidingdoorsmustbeopenandsecuredby
tworestrainingstrapsthusaffordingvisionthroughtherearwindow.
WATER HEATER
TheTrumaUltrastorewaterheaterisfittedinsidetheoffsidebedbox.Refertothe
waterheaterinstructionleafletforgeneralinformation.Operationinstructionsaretobe
foundlaterinthismanual.
STORAGE
Storageisprovidedbycupboards,lockers,a drawer,wardrobeandbedboxes.Further
spaceisavailableintheovercabareaandpelmetstoragebays.A storagecompartment
isalsolocatedbehindthetoilet.Itemsmayalsobestoredunderneaththecaband
passengerseats,inthecabdoorpocketsand,intheeventoftheupperbedbeing
fitted, thesidestoragepocketsadjacenttotheupperbedarea.
Heavyitemsmustnotbestoredinanyoverheadlockerorcupboards,orinanystorage
areafromwhichtheycouldcomefreeandcauseinjurytotheoccupantsofthevehicle.
Ensureallcupboardsaresecurelyfastenedbeforemovingoff.
Aerosolsandhighlyflammablematerialsmustnotbestoredinanycompartment
behind, oradjacentto,anyheaterorheatsource.
^LEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
^Bipazisdesignedasa twoberthmodel,offeringthechoiceofeithertwosinglebeds,
eachrunninglongitudinallydownthelengthofthevehicle,oralternativelya double

Ensurethevehicleissecurelychockedandreleasethehandbrake.
Releasetheswivelcatchbyliftingtheleverontherighthandsideofthedriversseat
baseandswiveltheseat(1)tofacetherearofthevehicle.
Releasetheslidecatchbyliftingthebaronthefrontoftheseatandslidetheseatup
%againstthestopsi.e.asfartowardsthedashboardasitwillgo.

Releasetheoffsiderearseatbasecatchbydepressingtheblackknobfoundinthe
blackplastichousinginthefaceofthebed-box,andslidetheseatbase(3)outtothe
secondcatchposition,toincreasethebedwidth.
Fittheinfillcushion(7)intothespacebetweenthecabseatandtherearbasecushion.
Removingthebackrestcushion(4)willgivea slightlywiderbed.
Single Bed Nearside
Releasetheswivelcatchbyliftingtheleveronthelefthandsideofthepassengersseat
base.
Turntheseat(2)tofacetherearofthevehicle.
Releasetheslidecatchbyliftingthebaronthefrontoftheseatandslidetheseatup
againstthestopsi.e.asfartowardsthedashboardasitwillgo.
Uncliptheflapwhichsecuresthetopofthebackresttothecookerunit.
Releasethenearsiderearseatcatch,bydepressingtheknobfoundintheblackplastic
housingintheinboardfaceofthebed-boxandslidetheseatbase(5)forward,atthe
sametime,liftthegrayflaponthefrontoftheslideoutassembly,andwhentheseat
hastraveledasfarforwardaspossiblelowertheflap.Theblockfixedbackoftheflap
willsitontopofthebottompart oftheseatswivel.
Fittheinfillcushion(8)intothespaceontopoftheflap.
Double Bed
Proceedasforthesinglebedsbutbeforefittingtheinfilcushion(7) intothespace
betweenthecabseatandtherearbasecushion.Slidethebasecushion(3)outuntilit
reachestheN/Ssinglebed.Undothebackreststrapsanddropthebackrest(4)intothe
spacebetweentheseatbasecushionandthesideofthevehicle.
Tocompletethebedfittheinfill(9)betweenthecabseats.Thefrontofthisis
supportedona folddownflapandtherearhooksontothefrontendofthebase
cushion(3).
Overcab Bed
Releasetheclipsholdingthebunktotheroof andfolddownthefrontboard.
Slideoutthemattressboardsuntiltheyfitagainstthestops.
Accesstothebunkisviatheladdersupplied.
Thebunknetshouldbehookedintopositionwhenthebunkoccupied.
WINDOWS
Alllowerforwardcaravanwindowsandtherearwindows(partlyconcealedbyexterior
trimpanels)areVolkswagenfactoryfittedunits.Thehightopdoubleglazedwindows
arefittedduringconversion.

Thelowerforwardslidingwindowsmaybeoperatedbyfirstreleasingthelockingcatch
andthenslidingtotherequiredposition.Anintermediatelockingpositionisavailable,

Theroof windowsarefittedwithtwocatchesand a slidingstayandareopenedby
releasingthetwocatches,movinggently.
Undernocircumstancesshouldthevehiclebedrivenwiththetophingedwindows
eitheropenorunlocked.
VENTILATION
ItisimportantthatallventsareleftclearofanyOBSTACLES,andarekept
clean.
,pazisfittedwith a four-wayrooflight,withflyscreenandnightblind,inthekitchen
area. This is designedtogivegenerousventilationwhenrequired.Thefour-wayfacility
may beachievedbyuseofthehandlesintherooflightframe. A furtherfourwayroof
light,withflyscreen, is locatedintheshowercompartment.Thedashboardfreshair
ventilatorsshouldbeopenwhilstthevehicle is beingusedas a caravanorwhilstan
unfluedgasapplianceburning. It isnotrecommendedtotravelwiththeroofvents
open.
BLINDS AND FL YSCREENS
Thelowercaravanwindowsandhightopwindowsarefittedwithrollerblindsand
flyscreens.Thesemaybeusedineitherroleoralternativelycombinedtooffer a
blind/flyscreenfacilityasrequired.
Intheeventofa blindorflyscreenbecomingslightlystiffornotretractingfully, a small
applicationofsiliconebasedoilontotherollermechanismwillimprovethe
blind/flyscreenoperation.
