Introduction
WingsEnginesbyAVStumpflconstitutehigh‐performance,high‐reliabilityhardware
formultidisplayshows.Theyincorporateourexperienceandthatofourusers.They
arebasedonWindows7Embeddedandhavebeenprovidedwithselectedcompo‐
nentsthatensureoptimalconfiguration.AllWingsEnginesaredistinguishedbythe
followingfeatures:
OperatingsystemandshowdataonSSDguaranteehighestperformanceandre‐
liability.
High‐performancegraphicscardwithtwoorfourdisplayoutputs(DUALor
QUAD),additionaloutputforcontrolmonitor
Aspecialdesktopallowsfastaccesstothemostimportantfunctions.SeeWings
EngineDesktop.
Generationoftestimagesonalloutputsfacilitatesalignmentofvideoprojectors
ordisplays.SeeDisplayingtestpictures.
ThesupportmoduleTeamViewerallowsremoteaccessforremotemaintenance
andtroubleshooting.
Theconfigurationisprotected,i.e.youareabletomakechangesbutthede‐
finedconfigurationcanberestoredatanytimeusingtheBackupManager.Cer‐
tainlyyoucanalsosaveandloadyourownconfigurationsforparticularapplica‐
tions.Configurationscanalsobe"frozen",i.e.youcanmakechangesbutthede‐
finedconfigurationsisrestoredagainafterarestart.SeealsoWingsEngineBa‐
ckupManager.
Therearethreedifferentmodelswithtwoorfourdisplayoutputseach:
WingsEnginePlay...thebasemodelforshowsandinstallations
WingsEngineInstall...asabove,butwithlivevideoinput
WingsEngineStage...thetopmodelforhighestdemandswithregardtoper‐
formanceandsturdyness.

Operatingconditionsandtechnicaldata
Inordertoguaranteeproperoperationmakesurethatthefollowingoperatingcondi‐
tionsprevailfortheWingsEngine.
Importantnote:Whenyoureceiveyourserver,placeitintheenvironmentwhereyou
willinstallit.Leavetheserverinitsshippingcrateatitsfinaldestinationfor12hours
anddonotconnectittothepowersupply!Thisrestingperiodpreventsthermalshock
andcondensation.
Ambienttemperature
Anambienttemperaturerangeof21°C(69.8°F)to23°C(73.4°F)isoptimalforserver
reliability.At22°C(71.6°F)itiseasytomaintainasaferelativehumiditylevel.Operat‐
inginthistemperaturerangeprovidesabufferiftheenvironmentalsupportsystems
fail.
RelativeHumidity
Ambientrelativehumiditylevelsbetween45%and50%arethemostsuitablefordata
processingoperationsinorderto
Preventcorrosion
Provideanoperatingtimebufferintheeventofenvironmentalcontrolsystem
failure.
Helpavoidfailurescausedbytheintermittentinterferencefromstaticdischarg‐
esthatoccurwhenrelativehumidityistoolow.
AirflowConsiderations
Ensureunobstructedairflowthroughthechassis
Ensurethatairentersatthefrontoftheserverhousingandexitsattheback.
Ensurethatventilationopenings,suchascabinetdoors,forboththeinletand
exhaustoftheserverprovideminimumopenareaof460cm²(71.3in²)each.
Takecaretopreventrecirculationofexhaustairwithinarackorcabinet.
Managecablestominimizeinterferingwiththeserverexhaustvent.

TheWingsEngineispre‐installedandpre‐configuredandallowsveryquickstarting.
1. UsingthepowercableortheoptionallyavailablepowerCONcable,hookupthe
WingsEnginepowersupply(7or5)withthemainssupply.
2. ConnectkeyboardandmousetotheUSBports(4)atthefrontorback.
3. ConnectthecontrolmonitorsordisplaysfortheshowtoDISPLAYAtoDOUT(2)
and,optionally,anadditionalcontrolmonitortoMONITOROUT(1).
4. ConnectyouraudiosystemtoportMAIN1‐2orLINE1‐2(3).
5. Usingswitch(6)switchthepowersupplyunittoIIwhenyouareusingthe
standardcableandtoIwhenyouareusingapowerCONcable.

6. StarttheWingsEngineviapushbutton(8).Followingthisthedesktopwillbe
displayed.
7. WithWingsViosobeingthecentralpresentationtool,clicktheiconstostartthe
correspondingapplications.AfterstartingupWingsyoucancreateamultidis‐
playprojectanddesignashow.SeeCreatingamultidisplayshowviaonecom‐

IfWingsVisosistostartupautomaticallyafterstartingtheWingsEn‐
gineclick followedbyclickingWingsViosoandplacea
checkmarknexttoStartWingsonSystemStartup.Therearevariousoptionsfor

TheWingsEnginefeaturesatestimagegeneratorwhichallowsvarioustestimagesat
suitableresolutiontobedisplayedatalloutputswithoutrequiringWingsVioso.Thisis
howthetestimagegeneratorcanbeused:
