
Powering the Safetycam™
The safetycam can be powered using 3 methods.

Option 1: Power through the OBD-II power cable Recommended
Option 2: Power through the CLA
−Plug the Y cable into the OBD port.
−Starting at the safetycam, lay out the power cable roughly where it will run once hidden behind the
vehicle's interior panels. This gives you an idea of where to route the cable and how much slack to leave
on the way down to the OBD port
−Route the SafetyCam power cable using the provided tool and adhesive cable holders.
oThe SafetyCam power cable can be routed:
−and tucked under the headliner.
−along the top of thewindshield.
−along the weather strip of the vehicle.
−
under the dash.
−Plug the SafetyCam power cable into one end of the Y cable, which is connected to the OBD port.
−Plug the other end of theY cable into the OBD-II device
Option 3: Power by hardwired connection
We have a 3-wire connection, which will be required to connect under the dash of the car in the way
mentioned below:
RED wire - this must be connected to the hot wire or battery.
BLACK wire - this must be the ground wire
YELLOW wire - this must be connected to either the fuse box or the ignition line.
(We recommend connecting to the fuse box.)
−Plug one end of the USB cable in the SafetyCam
−Route the SafetyCam power cable using the provided tool and adhesive cable holders.
oThe SafetyCam power cable can be routed:
−and tucked under the headliner.
−along the top of thewindshield.
−along the weather strip of the vehicle.
−
under the dash.
−Plug the other end of SafetyCam power cable into the Cigarette Lighter Adapter
