Model VA 01 –NIBP Monitor (Systole, Diastole and Pulse Rate), Infrared

Thermometer (Temperature) and Pulse Oximeter (SpO2 & Pulse Rate)

1. Intended Use

B.O.L.T VA 01 is intended to measure Blood Pressure (BP), Body Temperature, Blood Oxygen

saturation (SpO2) of an adult user. The B.O.L.T device is controlled by a mobile device

(Smartphone / Tablet), and can be used by a physician, doctor in a hospital environment and

by users in a home environment.

2. Product Description

The B.O.L.T VA 01 device is a medical gadget with NiBP (Non-invasive Blood Pressure), Pulse

Oximeter (SpO2) and Infrared Thermometer (IRT) that gets controlled from a smartphone/

tablet. The B.O.L.T device is a cloud-enabled solution, where your health vitals can be stored

in your personal health cloud.

Know Your Unit

The base unit has an elegant look and feel with two LED indicators, an accessory connector

and a power ON/OFF sliding switch as shown below. Accessories like cuff, IR Thermometer

with dust cover, SpO2 probe and USB cable with power adapter are provided along with the

base unit.

4. Product Quality, Reliability and Safety

The device has been designed with an emphasis on quality, reliability and safety, but AMI can

only accept responsibility for these aspects, provided the following conditions are met

The device should be used as per the operating instructions mentioned in the user

manual provided by AMI.

All modifications and repairs to the device should be carried out by authorized AMI

personnel or their agents.

The user must follow the regulations specified in the below warnings, cautions and

care & maintenance.

4.1 Warning

If you encounter any problem while taking blood pressure measurement, such as

inflation does not stop or air leakage in the cuff, remove the cuff or pull out the air

tube from the base unit.

Do not wrap the cuff around the arm where an intravenous injection or transfusion is

being given to the patient.

Do not operate the gadget in places where inflammable gas, such as highly

inflammable anesthetic, may be generated or in a high-pressure oxygen room or in an

oxygen tent.

Keep the gadget away from infants, small children or anyone who is incapable of

using the gadget in a correct manner.

The device is designed for adults and not recommended for the neonates, pediatrics

and infants.

The user is recommended to insert the given USB plug in the USB port of the base

unit during battery mode operation.

The user can remove the USB Plug while charging the device.

The user is recommended to insert the given lemo connector plug in the accessory

connector port when accessories are not connected.

The user can remove the Lemo connector plug while connecting the accessory.

Keep the USB plug and Lemo connector plug safe and use as per the above

instructions to protect the device from dust and to meet the ESD requirements.

Please do not use the same cuff for patients who are highly infectious as this practice

may cause cross-infection.

Do not use the cuff other than arm area.

Use dust cover for the IR Thermometer probe during the temperature measurement.

Dust covers are meant for Single user / Single use only.

If the thermometer probe is ever accidentally used without a dust cover attached the

readings may be incorrect. In that case, clean the lens with a soft cloth or cotton swab

moistened with alcohol.

Place the finger inside the SpO2 probe properly during SpO2 measurement.

4.2 Caution

Do not use the gadget while moving in a vehicle as this may result in erroneous

readings.

Do not use any other branded cuffs as this may result in inaccurate measurements.

Do not use unauthorized parts and accessories.

Do not store or use this gadget in locations which are maintained above the specified

temperature and humidity ranges.

Nail polish or false fingernails may cause inaccurate SpO2 readings.

SpO2 measurements may be adversely affected in the presence of high ambient light.

Use only American Megatrends India Specified batteries and charging devices.

4.3 Care and Maintenance

Store the gadget and the accessories in a clean and safe location.

Changes or modifications not approved by the manufacturer will void the user

warranty.

Keep the accessories and gadget away from rain, sweat, and water.

Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the device by yourself, as this could affect the

safety, and voids the warranty of the device if the seal is broken.

Clean the rubber touching the finger inside the SpO2 probe gently by a soft cloth

dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol before measurement.

Clean the IRT sensor window with a soft cloth dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol

before measurement.

Unexpected mechanical damage of the device must be intimated to the manufacturer

immediately.

4.4 Disposal

Dispose the instrument, accessories and consumables according to local disposal and

recycling laws.

This symbol is applicable for EU member countries only.

To avoid potential negative consequences for the environment and possibly human health,

care should be taken while disposing (i) for EU member countries - in accordance with WEEE

(Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), or (ii) for all other countries, in

accordance with local disposal and recycling laws.

The dust cover needs to be disposed after the single usage to avoid cross-

contamination.

The dust cover disposal after use should adhere to the local authority

guidelines/norms.

5. Contraindications

The B.O.L.T device is not recommended for people with serious arrhythmia. Consult your

doctor during pregnancy, arrhythmia and arteriosclerosis. The analyzed results from the

devices are not sufficient to make a correct diagnosis of the patient`s clinical condition. A

detailed clinical history of the patient is also required together with the results of any other tests

suggested by a doctor.

7. Operating Environment

The B.O.L.T device has been designed for use in the hospitals, clinics or directly by the patient

at home to monitor the health conditions. The user or the physician is responsible for

ensuring that the device is stored and used in appropriate environmental conditions.

8. Prerequisites

Some basic requirements must be followed as mentioned below to ensure better operation

of the product.

B.O.L.T device is designed to be operated with applications like Android, iOS or

Windows.

The Android OS version of the Smartphone / Tablet should be 4.0 or higher.

The iOS version of the Smartphone / Tablet should be 7 or higher.

The Windows OS version of the Smartphone / Tablet should be 8 or higher.

9. Using B.O.L.T Application

Downloading and Installing B.O.L.T application on your mobile device

1. Download and Install B.O.L.T application from the Play store/Application

store/Windows application market.

2. On successful installation, launch the B.O.L.T application on the mobile device.

3. Create a User Name with your Email ID or use Facebook Credentials for login.

4. On successful Login, provide permission for cloud service by enabling the Save in

cloud option and enter near and dear details under settings panel at the left top

corner of the home view.

Note: You can also login as a guest user while internet unavailability

which might not store the measured vital parameters in the cloud storage

space on the measured parameters.

10. Blood Pressure Measurement Procedure

Mandatory instructions to be followed during blood pressure measurement

Relax yourself/user in a comfortable position.

Avoid eating, exercising and smoking for 30 minutes before taking a measurement.

Avoid taking measurements during stressful times.

Remove tight-fitting clothing from the right upper arm.

Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and place the right arm on a table as

shown below.

Apply the cuff to the right upper arm so that the cuff is wrapped at the same level of

your heart.

Ensure that the arrow present in the cuff points towards the artery of the right hand

as shown below.

Stay calm without shaking the hand/body during the measurement.

10.1 Blood Pressure measurement with B.O.L.T

B.O.L.T enables connecting an air hose through which the pulses are picked-up and blood

pressure is monitored.

1. Insert the BP connector plug into the BP socket firmly as shown above.

2. Switch ON the gadget using the ON/OFF sliding switch.

3. Enable Bluetooth and Internet Connectivity on the mobile device.

4. Launch the B.O.L.T application on the mobile device.

5. Login with the User Name and Password which was used for the registration or use

Guest login.

Measuring BP with B.O.L.T

6. On successful login of the B.O.L.T application, Select “How is my health” option to

perform Master Health checkup or select “Check Vitals” option to perform the

individual test and continue.

7. Confirm the Bluetooth device to turn-on.

8. Select the B.O.L.T device from the list of available Bluetooth devices and confirm.

9. Provide default password (1234) for pairing your B.O.L.T device with the mobile

device on your first-time usage (only for Android).

10. Wrap the cuff around the upper arm of the right hand above the elbow.

11. Ensure that the arrow in the cuff points the artery along the middle finger of the right

hand.

12. Start the Blood Pressure measurement using the application screen.

13. Ensure that the person remains stable until the application displays the results.

14. On successful measurement, the Blood Pressure and Pulse rate are displayed and a

copy of reading will be mailed to your Near & Dear mail IDs on saving the data.

15. Multiple BP readings can be taken with 1-minute interval by selecting the auto-

reading option.

Note: On Successful pairing of the mobile device, Blue LED stops blinking

in the gadget. Ensure that the save option is enabled for storing the data

in the cloud.

10.2 Blood Pressure Classification for Adults

The World Health Organization (WHO) has created the following classification for assessing

high blood pressure (Hypertension). Please note that this table can give only a generic view

as other factors such as Age, diabetes, obesity, and smoking, also needs to be considered for

understanding the different ranges. Consult with your physician for accurate assessment.

11. Blood Oxygen Level Measurement Procedures

Mandatory instructions to be followed during blood oxygen level measurement

Remove nail polish or dirt present on the finger before the measurement.

Clean the surface of the fingertip before the measurement.

Relax yourself/user in a comfortable position.

Remain stable during the measurement.

Place the index finger properly inside the SpO2 probe.

11.1 Blood Oxygen Level measurement with B.O.L.T

B.O.L.T enables connecting a SpO2 probe through which the blood oxygen level is measured.

Insert the SpO2 connector into the socket firmly as shown below.

1. Clean the rubber pad of the SpO2 probe touching the finger gently with a soft cloth

dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol and let air dry or use a soft dry cloth to clean

before measurement.

2. Clean your hands with hand wash before the measurement.

3. Select “Check Vitals” option to perform the individual test and continue.

4. Clip the SpO2 probe in the index finger of the person to be measured in right/left

hand as displayed above.

5. Select the Blood Oxygen option from the application screen.

6. On successful measurement, the SpO2 value and Pulse rate will be displayed and a

copy of reading will be mailed to your Near & Dear mail IDs on saving the data.

Note: Ensure to clean your hands before taking a SpO2 measurement. For some

readings, fluctuations may occur below 85% of SpO2 for certain ethnicity

group.

If the SpO2 values are deviated below 70% or above 100%, ensure that the

user is stable and positions his finger properly as shown below.

This is a continuous measurement procedure. Hence readings SpO2 will

continue to be displayed until the user stops the measurement/test.

11.2 Blood Oxygen Level Classification

12. Temperature Measurement Procedures

Mandatory instructions to be followed during temperature measurement

Relax yourself/user in a comfortable position.

For persons wearing hearing aids or earplugs, remove the device and wait 20 minutes

prior to taking a temperature measurement.

Use new dust cover for each measurement.

Place the thermometer probe firmly into the ear canal for accurate measurement.

Remain stable during the measurement.

Wait until the application displays the measured temperature.

12.1 Body Temperature measurement with B.O.L.T

B.O.L.T enables connecting an IR Thermometer probe through which the temperature is

measured.

Insert the IR Thermometer connector into the socket firmly as shown below.

1. Select “Check Vitals” option to perform the individual test and continue.

2. Use dust cover over the tip of the thermometer.

3. Place the thermometer inside the ear horizontally as such the pointer maintains a

horizontal position as displayed above.

4. Select the Body temperature option from the application screen.

5. On successful measurement, the temperature value is displayed and a copy of the

reading will be mailed to your Near & Dear mail IDs on saving the data.

6. Select the required unit (°C/°F) using the slide button in the application.

7. Kindly dispose the dust cover in the disposable container.

12.2 Temperature Classification

13. Body Mass Index (BMI)

The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of relative weight based on an individual's mass and

height. BMI provides a simple numeric measure of a person's thickness or thinness, allowing

health professionals to discuss overweight and underweight problems more objectively with

their patients.

13.1 Measuring BMI with B.O.L.T

1. Choose Body Mass Index option from the application screen.

2. Enter your height (feet/cm) and weight (lbs/kg) of the person to be measured in the

application.

3. On successful measurement, the BMI value is displayed which can be compared with

the above BMI range classification table.
