Important Safety Instructions
It is important that the following safety instructions are followed
Always
Always install the heater in accordance with the instructions. If in doubt obtain
expert advice.
Always make sure the electrical socket is accessible and located adjacent to,
but not above the heater.
Always disconnect the heater from the electrical supply before carrying out
cleaning, maintenance or replacing the lamp.
Always use a fireguard when young children and infirm persons can come into
contact with the heater.
Always use genuine BFD spares.
Never
Never leave children unsupervised in a room where the heater is ON and
unguarded.
Never obstruct or cover the fan outlet or force items into the heater openings.
Never install or use the heater anywhere where water is in use, i.e.
Bathrooms, Shower Rooms, Swimming Pools etc.
Never use aerosols or steam cleaners on or around the heater.
Never route the mains supply cable under carpet etc.
Never install the heater close to curtains or combustible materials.
Never use the heater to dry clothes etc.
Never sit or stand on the heater

The heater is designed to be free standing on a hard level surface. When siting
please bear the following points in mind
•If you are placing the heater in an alcove, make sure that 150mm-side
clearance is maintained to ensure good air circulation.
•The heater must not be located under a fixed electrical socket, the
socket must always be accessible in order to disconnect the heater
from the electrical supply for maintenance or when replacing a lamp.
•Although the stove complies with all the safety standards, some kinds
of floor coverings (e.g. vinyl tiles, synthetic deep pile carpets) may be
affected by the hot air from the fan. We suggest in these instances that
you place the heater on a shallow plinth that projects 150mm forward
of the front feet.
•Keep hearthrugs and other soft furnishings etc. away from the front of
the heater. They could obstruct the free flow of hot air from the fan and
damage both soft furnishings and heater.
Installation
Important! This heater must be earthed.
The heater is supplied with a 3 pin 13A fused re–wireable plug with 1mm². 3 core
mains cable,
L = Brown N = Blue E= Green/Yellow
The mains supply cable must be safely routed from the heater to an electrical
socket. If the mains cable is damaged, to avoid a hazard it must be replaced by a
Valor authorised service agent, or a similarly qualified person.
All external wiring between the appliance and the electrical supply, including the
earth, shall comply with current IEE regulations

Siting

Never cover the heater or obstruct the opening at the base of the heater,
this could cause overheating and consequent risk of fire.
Heater Controls
The following switches are located under the controls cover, on the front of the
heater.
Fan -Use alone for cool air or with heat settings
Heat I -Low heat setting
Heat II -High heat setting when used together with low
heat setting. Heater will only work if fan switch is on
Flame Switches flame/fuel effect on/off
Flame Dimmer -Adjust to set flame intensity
Always disconnect the heater from the electricity supply by removing the 3
pin plug and allowing the heater to cool before undertaking maintenance or
replacing the lamp.
Lamp Replacement
The lamps fitted to this heater are 230V 25W E14 small Edison screw, clear,
candle lamps
Due to the indeterminate life span and ease of replacement they are specifically
excluded from the guarantee.
To replace a lamp.
Remove the small Philips screws securing the fuel basket and put to one side.
Lift up the fuel support
Remove the faulty lamp by screwing the lamp anti -clockwise,
Fit the new lamp
Relocate the fuel support and secure using the Philips screws

Automatic Cut Out
A cut out is fitted to the heating element to prevent damage due to over heating.
If it operates due to an obstruction in the airflow, the heater must be turned off
and allowed to cool for 15 minutes and the obstruction removed before restarting.
Care and Cleaning
The heater and glass parts need only to be wiped clean with a dry soft cloth, do
not use polishes or abrasive materials.
Fault Finding
No light from the fuel effect: possibly a lamp failure. Remove the lamp as
detailed above and check it in a table lamp that is known to work.
No heat or light: check the wall socket by plugging in a known working
appliance. If functional check the 13A fuse in the heater plug. If either fuse or
socket is suspected, have them checked by an electrician.
Light but no heat: The automatic cut out, may have operated, see Automatic
Cut Out section.
What should I do when I’m ready to dispose of my heater ?
The plug should be removed from the mains cable and the mains cable cut from
the heater. These should be disposed of with the heater.
Environmental Protection
Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with household
waste. Please recycle where facilities exist. Check your local
authority or retailer for recycling advice
