Introduction
This manual contains all the necessary information for installation, troubleshooting and
maintenance. Read the manual thoroughly before opening or using the unit. The
manufacturer of this product will not be held responsible for injury to and/or damage of
the product if it is the result of improper installation or unnecessary/incorrect
maintenance. It is essential that the instructions in this manual be followed at all times.
Installation by qualified personnel is required.
○ Only a qualified installer, center, individual or an authorized dealer can repair this
product.
○ Maintenance and operation should be performed according to the recommended time
and frequency, as stated in the manual.
○ Use only original standard parts. Failure to do so will void your warranty.
Characteristics
○ Durable: the materials used are chlorine, acid (sulfuric acid), salt and alkali resistant.
They can withstand long-term exposure to pool water (even with salt for salt electrolysis).
The dosing units are not suitable for use with hydrochloric acid (HCl).
○ Simple operation: the unit is very convenient to operate. Turn it on and set the desired
pH (acid) or redox value (chlorine).
○ Low cost: the operating cost is very low because when used correctly, the pool water
never turns green.
○ The pH and Redox probes should be calibrated regularly, and their correct functioning
verified by a proper measuring method on color (e.g. Poollab ZWMX1060
Important elements :
○ An incomplete grounding of the pool pipes can have negative consequences on the
measuring results and thus lead to deviating pH and chlorine values in the pool.
○ Use only city water, no rainwater or well water.
○ Proper grounding is made as follows :
- The pool line after the filter pump is grounded through an in-line grounding to an
independent grounding post
- The pool line near the measurement probes is grounded through an in-line earth ground
to a second independent grounding post.

Installation Items
The factory provides the slab with water treatment equipment without a plug for the dosing
devices. This unit is electrically connected to the salt electrolysis unit.
Attention!
○ The electrical installation must be carried out in such a way that:
- The electrolysis and acid pump cannot operate if the filter pump is not working. This can be
done by adding a flow switch/flow controller ZWMX3552-P to the installation or by
using the same power line as the filter pump.
- The salt electrolysis and acid pump can be switched off when the filter pump is running.
- Switching off is done by setting the intensity control knob to 00.
○ Adding chemicals for the pool should be done downstream from the pool accessories such
as heater, UV lamp, filter, etc.
○ It is recommended to set the installation of the water treatment unit in bypass
configuration.

○ Install the water treatment unit on a solid base or against the wall (always vertical)
○ Always keep the product upright. If the product is tilted or laid on its side, the electrodes
may not measure correctly.
○ The product must be installed inside. If you want to do it outside, please contact your
supplier.
○ Do not use the meter with hydrochloric acid (HCl).
○ The electronics (dosing devices) of the unit must be installed inside. Make sure that - in
case of leakage - water cannot run over the installation.
○ The electronics or the device itself must NEVER be connected to an output of a frequency
converter or frequency inverter.
○ The dosing device must not be on the same power circuit as that of the frequency
converter or frequency converter being used, and it must be at least 3 m from the
dosing unit.
○ Calibrate the pH and Rx electrodes before the first use and "regularly" thereafter. (At least
every 3 months). Verify "regularly" the chlorine content and pH with a color method.
Installation of the water treatment plate
1 Fix the water treatment unit against a solid wall. Fix both the lower and upper part of the
plate.
2 Insert pH and chlorine electrodes into the electrode holders. Fix the nut with pliers or
wrench to tighten the cap. Failure to do so may result in a leak (and is not covered
by warranty).

3 Make a separate grounding for Your Salt Electrolysis with grounding pin.
4 Connect water inlet and water outlet so that water passes the Redox and pH measuring
electrode first and then the salt electrolysis (or vice versa).
Install the salt electrolysis in bypass configuration:
The salt chlorinator should be installed with the return line to the pool and through the
water treatment line as shown in the diagram. A stopcock should be installed on the
main line.
Before installing the salt chlorinator, make sure that the water flow matches the direction
indicated by the chlorinator.
To connect the pipes, use only line suitable for PVC bonding.
The chlorinator should be installed in a well-ventilated area to allow it to cool properly.
Do not install in an area where the electronic components of the chlorinator may be
damaged by moisture or rain.
During operation, the chlorinator should avoid direct sunlight to prevent the aging process
of the housing.
5 Make the electrical connections in such a way that:
- The salt electrolysis and acid pump cannot operate if the filter pump is not working.
- The salt electrolysis and acid pump can be turned off when the filter pump is working.

5 Connect the pH and redox measuring heads to the BNC connector at the positions
provided:
pH (left) RX (right)
6 Start the filter pump.
7 Check the installation for leaks.
8 Stop the filter pump. Remove the electrodes from the holder and calibrate pH and redox
electrodes.
Attention!
(1) If you do not have a bypass configuration, you can insert two rubber caps (product code:
ZFPX4640 or fake probes ZWMX2067-Z) into the electrode holders to prevent water from
spraying out of the electrode holders during calibration.
(2) The electrode calibration procedure may take several minutes. To ensure an accurate
reading, it is important to follow the steps below carefully.
(3) Always ensure that the calibration fluids used in the calibration process match the
indicated values and that the fluids are not contaminated.
9 Calibration
Calibrate the electrodes
Using the following steps, you will have calibrated the electrodes in no time:
1. Immerse the probes in the calibration liquids for pH (pH 7) and Redox (465-
468 mV) and wait 5 minutes to equilibrate before continuing with the
calibration process.

2. Press the pH and Redox buttons (upper and lower button) for 10 seconds.
Once the calibration starts a screen is activated and shows what YOU are calibrating, you can
calibrate pH separately or calibrate Rx.
A timer will stop after 120 seconds and give a message whether the calibration was
successful.
In case of an unsuccessful
calibration there is the following
message

Reasons for a failed calibration:
A bad calibration ( recalibrate)
Calibration fluid is contaminated (replace fluid) recalibrate
Measuring probe broken (left too long DRY) (replace probe) and recalibrate. Caution: broken
pH probe pH value on screen =7
When the Ph and Rx are properly calibrated the screens will disappear automatically.
After 2 minutes the screens disappear and you can read the values from the screen. If the
calibration is correct the values are as follows:
a. pH 7.0 +- 0.1
b. Redox 468 +-10mV
If the values are not within the range described above, you can press the pH and Redox
buttons again to repeat the calibration process.

After an initial calibration, you also have the option of adjusting the pH manually. This is
only possible if both the pH on the unit and the measured pH are normal.
Using the following steps, you will have the probes calibrated in no time:
Here you get the choice to calibrate via PH7 or manually enter a value (see picture) that was
measured with a professional water tester like the Poollab ZWMX1060.
If the values are not within the range described above, you can press the pH and Redox
buttons again to repeat the calibration process.
Manual pH adjustment (pH7-7,8)

If during operation you should find that the measured value of the dosing device does not
really correspond to the value measured with a professional measuring device, you can
enter the measured value here if the value is between 7 and 7.8 pH
Via the back button you return to the main menu
Pool.
You cannot calibrate pH AND Redox at the same time.
10 Preparing the pool water
Make sure the pH of the pool water is at least between 7.2 and 7.8 and as close to 7.4 as
possible. Make sure the content of chlorine stabilizer (cyanoic acid) in the pool water is
between 20-40 ppm (20-40 g / 10 m³)
11 Setting parameters
A number of parameters must be set. Press the middle button. You will see the following
screen:
11.1) Language
You can set a (different) language. Press the middle key again. Then navigate to the
languages Français, Castellano, Italiano, English, Deutsch by using the upper or lower key.
Confirm your choice of language by pressing the middle button.
11.2) Dosing mode: proportional continuous ( not for salt electrolysis) Salt time, Salt Rx (for)
salt electrolysis

Press the lower button. The "dosage mode" setting is now checked. Press the middle button
to activate this setting. You will now see that the dosing mode Prop (= proportional) or Cont
(continuous) is selected. Press the middle button again. In the salt electrolysis dosing mode,
you can choose between Salt Time or Salt Rx.
Caution!
In salt electrolysis, do not use the dosing modes Continuous and
Proportional.
Explanation of the dosing method for salt :
In salt electrolysis, the addition of chemicals such as anti-algae, wall-cleaner, flocculant, etc.
sometimes causes the redox to become unmeasurable. In most cases the redox will drop to
very low values, while the chlorine content is correct. This deviation is temporary, but can
last for several weeks. At this point it is advisable to use the "Salt Time" dosing method.
Under normal circumstances you should use the "salt RX" dosing method.
Option 1: Salt Rx
- The sequence is:
Meeting values pool water 40 sec
Chlorination via electrolysis 4 min
pH dosage 1 min (if setpoint is not reached)
Back measuring values swimming pool water 40 sec.

When the setpoint Rx is reached the sequence will continue to run but no more chlorine will
be created, chlorine will be created again when the measured Rx value has fallen below the
setpoint Rx.
The unit will measure Ph and Rx (redox) for 40 seconds. This measurement will be stored in
the memory.
If PH is set to -:
If the Ph value is much higher than the setpoint (target value), the Ph dosing pump will run
for 2 min
If the Ph value is lower than the setpoint (target value), the dosing pump does not run.
If the Rx value is lower than the setpoint, chlorine is produced via the electrolysis cell for 4
min
After 6 minutes salt electrolysis and pH dosing will stop, and pH and Redox will be measured
again. The above cycle repeats.
Option 2: Salt time
Here you can set a time in hours and minutes with a
maximum of: 23 hours and 59 minutes.
This means that the unit will only operate on a time
basis to create chlorine, it does not take into account
the measured value of Rx, even if the Rx setpoint is
reached chlorine will continue to be created on a time
basis.
If there is a power failure or flow interruption the timer will reset and go back to full time.
This procedure runs for the set time. After the time has expired the pH dosing and
measuring continues, however, no more chlorine is produced. In the next 24 hours the timer
resumes its settings or set time.
When confirming and after setting the Salt time option, a screen appears with the message:
After each flow or flow interruption, the electrolysis will operate
for xx hours and xx minutes ( your set time values). With
continuous electrical flow, the electrolysis will operate for xx
hours and xx minutes per 24 hours.
Press OK to return.

With this dosing method, the chlorine content must be measured regularly using a color
method. If the chlorine content is too low, the time must be extended. If the chlorine
content is too high, the time must be reduced.
11.3) PH+ or PH-
Press the lower button. The setting "PH+ or PH-" is now checked. Press
the middle button to activate this setting. A - sign appears. Press the
middle button again. You have now set the supply of PH-.
PH- must always be set when using liquid chlorine. Liquid chlorine
already contains PH+. This is always added as a stabilizer.
PH- should always be set when using salt electrolysis. When chlorine is produced by the salt
electrolyzer, PH+ (NaOH) is formed as a by-product.
We recommend the use of 15% sulfuric acid, the weaker the sulfuric acid and the more
accurately the pH dosage will work
In the exceptional case that the pH drops below 7.2, it is best to bring it back to zone 7.2-7.6
by manually adding pH plus
As an additional safety measure, we recommend that - when the pH minus canister is full -
the suction nipple is not lowered to the bottom of the canister. If something should go
wrong with the dosage, the entire canister of acid will not be pumped into the pool.
It is not possible to apply both PH+ and PH- : PH- or PH+, never both at the same time.
11.4) PH SP(SetPoint)
Press the lower button. The "PH SP" setting is now checked. Press the
middle key to activate this setting. You will now see the preset value. Now
you can set the value higher or lower with the upper or lower button and
confirm by pressing the middle button. The value is now set according to
your needs.

As a rule the pH will be regulated at 7.4
The pH will be corrected with pH min. We recommend the use of 15% sulfuric acid, the
weaker the sulfuric acid and the more accurately the pH dosage will work
In the exceptional case that the pH drops below 7.2, it is best to bring it back to zone 7.2-7.6
by adding pH plus
As an additional safety measure, we recommend that you do not lower the suction cup to
the bottom of the canister. If something should go wrong with the dosage, the entire
canister of acid will not be pumped into the pool.
11.5) Rx SP(Redox SetPoint)
The redox is a measure of the chlorine content(oxidation capacity) of the pool
water. The higher the Rx, the higher the chlorine content.
At startup we recommend setting the setpoint to 700mV, in the same way as
described above for pH. After the first startup measure the chlorine content with a
color method. Adjust the setpoint for redox if necessary (decrease if chlorine too
high, increase if chlorine too low).
Regularly verify the function of the electrodes and settings by measuring pH and chlorine
content with an alternative method (color measurement e.g. Poollab ZWMX1060)). If
necessary, adjust or calibrate the set points of the installation.
The measurement of the oxidation force of the water is expressed on the device in mV .
For a chlorine measurement the chlorine content is expressed in ppm.
Below is a table showing the ratios between mV and pH and the corresponding ppm.
In salt electrolysis the addition of chemicals such as anti-algae, wall-cleaner, flocculant,
sedimentation products, sulphates, copper sulphate, extremely dirty water (chloramines),
electromagnetic interference and/or a non-ideal grounding can sometimes cause the redox
to become unmeasurable. In most cases, the redox then drops to very low values, while the
chlorine content is correct. This deviation is temporary, but can last for several weeks. At
this point it is advisable to use the "salty time" dosing method. The device will then not take
into account the RX setpoint.
Attention, this table is not absolutely correct. It is always necessary to determine the
chlorine content by regular color measurements, and then to adjust the redox setpoint
(higher RX setpoint = higher chlorine content and vice versa).

A color measurement with a reliable device (e.g. Poollab ZWMX1060), gives the best
indication of the chlorine content in the pool.

Example: your unit has the following values on the screen: pH 7,2 and redox of 740 then
your pool water has a chlorine content of 1,2 ppm.
The parameterization of the electrolysis unit itself is very simple,
You only have to control the intensity of chlorine creation.

If you see that the redox is regularly far above the setpoint, you should reduce the intensity.
11.6) Flow switch; no , yes
Here you can enter whether the installation is equipped with a flow switch.
If you enter YES the device assumes that a flow switch is active. When there is a water flow,
a contact will close. When the contact is closed, the dosing pumps Ph and the salt
electrolysis can function. When there is no flow, the contact is open and so the dosing pump
and salt electrolysis will not work or will stop at a flow stop.
See below for connecting a flow switch to your unit.
11.7) Safety alarm: on or off or info
The alarm function is required to ensure safe operation of this unit and pool.
Alarm on:
The alarm screen comes on when:
- pH too high ( pH>8.5 or pH too low (pH < 5.5)
- Redox too high (>xx)
- pH or Redox measurement =0
- continuous dosing for 240 min
The alarm message disappears after the middle menu button is pressed. From
then on you can manually or automatically bring the values up to their level
by adding the right products and manner.
After the set time of the alarm has elapsed and the values are still not ok, the
alarm will be reactivated.

If dosing is not interrupted for 240 min or 4 hours, the unit goes into alarm mode and stops
the functionality of the dosing pumps and electrolysis.
Alarm OFF:
Never operate the unit in alarm OFF mode during normal and automatic operation. Alarm
OFF mode is only used to monitor your unit in case of a malfunction. If you set the alarm to
off, the alarm will not operate for 60 min.
Suction cap of pH in the acid canister. It is recommended that the suction cap not be
lowered to the bottom of the canister. If something should go wrong with the dosage, the
whole canister of acid will not be pumped into the pool.
12) How much salt should be put in the pool?
Although the equipment starts to work with smaller salt percentage, it reaches optimum of
salt with concentrations with 2-2,5 kg/m3. We recommend a concentration of 2.5kg/m3 to
compensate for small losses of salt that occur during filter cleaning, the effect of rainfall etc.
To calculate the salt to be added, multiply the total volume in m3 of your pool x2.5
Example:
A pool with the following dimensions: Length 9m ; 4.5m in width and 1.6 m depth
9 x 4.5 x 1.6 = 64.8 cubic meters. 64.8 x 2.5 = 162 kg salt to be added
13) Installing the Suction Cup
Insert the suction nipple from Ph into the acid canister. It is recommended that the suction
cap not be lowered to the bottom of the canister. If something should go wrong with the
dosage, the entire canister of acid will not be pumped into the pool.
14) Start the installation
Start the installation by turning on the pump's electricity until the salt is dissolved and
homogeneously distributed in the pool water.
Verify the pH, and adjust the pH to 7.2-7.4.
15 ) Start salt electrolysis and pH dosing.
Calibration and verification of chlorine /Ph
The correctness of pH and Chlorine should be verified regularly (weekly) by a proper
measurement with color (e.g. Poollab ZWMX1060).
Every installation should be calibrated at least once a year. In case of a long swimming
season, or in case of deviation between color method measurement and pH/Rx values, it is
recommended to also calibrate every six months, so twice a year.
The procedure calibration and setpoint adjustment have already been described in detail
above.
Connecting a flow switch

A flow switch can be added to the unit, for units that were produced in 2020 or later.
On the circuit board with the display, there is the connection "FS" at the bottom left. These
are connected to the two contacts of the flow switch. If no flow is detected, neither acid nor
chlorine pump will run, and an alarm is generated.
Connecting a level switch
Two level switches can be added to the unit, for units produced in 2020 or later. For salt
electrolysis, only the "level switch "acid" is used.
On the circuit board with the display, there is a connection "WLH" and "WLL" in the middle
and right bottom. These are connected to the two contacts of the level switch. Connect
connection WLH to the level switch in the vessel with acid.
Upon low level detection, the respective pump will stop pumping and generate an alarm.
The Chlorinator
The Salt Chlorinator uses the most advanced microcomputer technology. It is both
multifunctional and easy to operate.
Never put the unit in the outlet of a frequency controller

Additional : operation and maintenance of the chlorinator
1. The mixture and maintenance of water and salt The operational state and maintenance of
the salt chlorinator
1.1 The calculation of the amount of water:
Knowing the volume of the pool is the first step in adding salt to the pool .
Rectangular pool: length (meter) x width (meter) x average depth (meter) = pool water
capacity ( cubic meters)
Round pool: diameter (meter) x diameter (meter) x average depth (meter) x 0.785 = pool
water capacity (cubic meters)
Oval pool: length (meter) x width (meter) x average depth (meter) x 0.893= pool water
capacity (cubic meters)
1.2 Salt Type
The salt used must be "pool salt". The sodium chloride (NaCl) in the salt must be at least
99.6%, and have a biocide approval number.
1.3 Adding the right amount of salt:
Most pools contain a certain amount of salt, the concentration of salt in the water depends
greatly on the water source. Users can use a portable NaCl tester or a salinity pen to test the
current salt concentration of the pool.
TIPS
The normal salt concentration level for the salt chlorinator is 2000-2500 ppm (2-2.5 kg of
salt per cubic meter of water)
When you first start using the electrolyzer, add salt to the pool according to the steps
below:
A) Use a salt content meter to check the initial salt concentration in the pool.
B) Add the correct amount of salt, making sure to add 2-2.5 kg of salt for each cubic meter
of the pool.

1.4 The correct way to add salt:
A) Turn on the pool circulation pump and let the water circulation begin.
B) Turn off the chlorinator.
C) Test the current salt level of the pool.
D) Calculate the amount of salt needed to add to the pool.
E) Add salt to the pool around the side of the pool, allowing the salt to dilute quickly and
evenly in the water. Do not allow salt to accumulate at the bottom of the pool. If necessary,
stir the water at the bottom of the pool to allow the salt to completely dissolve.
F)Run the circulation pump for 24 hours to allow the salt to distribute evenly in the pool.
G)24 hours later, test the salt concentration of the pool again to see if it has reached the
optimum level.
H)When the pool salt concentration has reached the desired level, turn on the salt
chlorinator and other equipment. Once the chlorinator has started, set the desired level of
chlorine production.
1.5 Reduce the salt concentration:
The only way to lower the salt concentration is to drain some of the pool water and replace
it with fresh water.
1.6 To reduce the loss of chlorine due to the UV radiation on the water of the outdoor pool,
you should add Cyanuric acid of 20-70 mg / l as a chlorine stabilizer.
2. Maintenance of salt chlorinator
2.1 life span of the electrolysis cell
a) Salt concentration: it is very important that the water of your pool has sufficient salt
concentration, otherwise the cell will break down prematurely if you let it work
permanently in salt-poor conditions. It is important to add salt if the unit shows the "salt
deficiency" indication.
b) Low temperature operation: do not operate the system at low water temperatures
(below 15 degrees). As an alternative, there are some hibernation products that keep the
water in good condition during the winter. If you do want to use it at low water, consider
lowering the maximum production value, for example, set it to 50% instead of 100%
c) Reversal frequency: the unit has an automatic reversal frequency.That way the cell cleans
itself of limescale.
d) Inadequate cleaning: If you notice any scaling between the cell electrodes, clean them as
indicated in the periodic maintenance table. Do not allow the cell to operate for long in
these conditions.
2.2 Checks
Regular checks and periodic maintenance
o Regularly verify the operation of the electrodes and settlements by measuring pH and
chlorine content with an alternative method (color measurement). If necessary, adjust the
setpoints of the installation.
