and local regulations

in moving parts

OPERATION OF NEW SPRAYER
Your Bestway Ag Trailer Sprayer is optimized for
trouble free spraying and ease-of-use.
First, back your tractor up to the sprayer hitch and
use a hitch pin to connect. Then, connect the PTO
coupler on the pump to the shaft by depressing the
coupler and sliding it on the shaft, letting go of the
coupler to allow lock pins to fall into the grooves on
the shaft. Wrap chain around draw bar to keep the
pump from turning.
Next, fill the tank at least 1/4 - 1/2 full of plain water
with no chemicals. Make sure the suction line shut
off valve is open. Screw the pressure regulator part
of the way out and make sure agitation valve is half
open (if equipped). This ensures you do not peg the
gauge and break it. Ensure the tank valve is on.
You are now ready to operate your new sprayer for
the first time. Engage the PTO lever and pull the
throttle to the 540 RPM mark. Turn the boom, or
boomless, valve on and adjust the desired pressure
you will need to operate at. Agitation valve may
need to be closed down to achieve desired pressure.
BEFORE SEASONAL USE
• Test sprayer with water for leaks before using
chemicals. Injury could result from leaks
• Inspect for and replace any worn hoses
• Inspect pressure gauge for proper function
PUMP SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• In addition to flammable materials, never pump
corrosive or acidic materials
• For acid fertilizer, teflon roller equipped pumps
are recommended
• Never run the pump dry or exceed maximum
recommended speed and pressure
• Before pump service, disconnect the power and
release pressure. Drain all liquids
OPERATING SAFETY
• Be aware of other people in work area
• Look before moving spraying, or engaging the
PTO
• Never leaving running unattended
• Keep hands and body parts clear of all moving
parts, especially the PTO
• Be aware of potentially dangerous terrain, such
as holes, slopes, banks, drop-offs, rocks, etc
• Always operate tractor up and down slopes and
never across
• Do not allow passengers on tractor or sprayer
• Allow proper clearance for spray boom (if your
unit is equipped) during turns
CHEMICAL SAFETY
• After use, completely rinse the sprayer and all
components to clear chemical residue
• After use, stop the tractor, set the brakes and
disengage the PTO shaft, shut off engine and
remove ignition key
• Always park sprayer on hard, level surface
• Store sprayer away from human/livestock
FOLLOWING USE

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Your Bestway Ag Trailer Sprayer is engineered to be
amongst the most durable, reliable sprayers on the
market. By following these routine maintenance
procedures, you will ensure your sprayer operates
at peak eciency through its lifetime.
1. Always perform a visual inspection for worn
parts, bolt issues, or other visible problems.
Make all necessary repairs before beginning
spray operations. Contact Bestway Ag to order
parts or to seek technical assistance.
2. Run a tank cleaner (tank neutralizer) through
the system after each use. If no tank cleaner
is available, you may substitute a quality dish
soap for this step. Turn the pump on and circu-
late the solution for 15 minutes and then spray
through the nozzles and handgun. Partially re-
fill the sprayer with fresh water and repeat the
process.
3. The screen on the in-line filter on the suction
line should be taken out and rinsed. Do not lose
the gasket in the filter bowl as the filter will leak
without it.
4. Tip strainers (if applicable) should be also be
rinsed after each use. Tip strainers are small
screens located behind each spray nozzle.
5. Periodically inspect tank straps and re-torque
bolts as necessary
Not the only way...the BESTWAY!
PUMP MAINTENANCE/CARE
By following these procedures, you ensure years of
trouble-free pump operation.
1. After each use, flush the pump as directed under
the routine maintenance section of this manual
2. If you notice a decrease in pump performance, or
leaks, you may need to replace seals and rollers
WINTERIZATION PROCEDURES
Properly winterizing your sprayer is essential to
avoiding damage and ensuring peak performance
year after year. The process should be undertaken
before freezing conditions. Failure to follow these
procedures can result in catastrophic failure and
will void the manufacturer’s warranty.
1. Empty the tank and rinse following previously
outlined procedure.
2. Pour 1-2 gallons of RV non-toxic antifreeze into
the tank. It is essential to use RV antifreeze as
engine antifreeze can be toxic
3. Engage the pump and spray with all nozzles, as
well as the spray gun. Be sure the antifreeze has
been pumped through the entire unit
4. Before spraying for the first time in the spring,
flush the sprayer with fresh water to cleanse

TEEJET SPRAY TIP CALIBRATION
FOR SIX AND EIGHT ROW BOOMS
Standard boom comes with 8003VP poly tips
GPA x MPH x NOZZLE SPACING
5940
GPM =
20gpa x 4mph x 20”
5940 =
1600
5940 = .27 GPM
EXAMPLE:
FORMULA:
Take the GPM calculated & look down the chart below to figure
what pressure you need to run at that speed.

NOTE: If spraying liquid nitrogen you will need to multiply the conversation factor with the GPA. MPH and
nozzle spacing.
20gpa x 4mph x 20” x 1.13
5940 =
1808
5940 = .31GPM
Conversion Factor: 28% Nitrogen - 10.65 pounds per gallon - 1.13
32% Nitrogen - 11.00 pounds per gallon - 1.15
