The USB Laptop Console 2 is an adapter which enables you to control
any computer with USB ports and a VGA video output, using just your
laptop. (Computer systems with DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort video will
require a DVI to VGA, HDMI to VGA or DisplayPort to VGA adapter.)
The USB Laptop Console 2 streams real-time video over high-speed
USB, from the host computer (server) to the application software you
will install on your laptop. At the same time, the software emulates
the server’s USB keyboard and mouse. A window on your laptop acts
as a console and gives you easy and complete control over the server.
It works even if the server is in the BIOS, or is otherwise damaged.
No software is ever installed on the server. The USB Laptop Console
2 can be hot-plugged into a working system at any time.

Hardware Set-up
Once drivers and software for the USB Laptop Console 2 have been installed on your laptop, the Console can be
plugged into your laptop and the server. The Console has captive (non-removable) cables for video input and USB
port (emulating keyboard and mouse). Connect both cables to the host server or computer that you want to control.
For DVI-I (analog) computer systems, please use a DVI to VGA adapter (not included). The console has a connector
foradetachablestandardmini-BtoAUSBcablethatconnectstoyourlaptop.Usetheprovidedcableorahigh-
qualityUSB2.0certiedcable.

Windows:
1. InserttheUSBashdrive(included),andrunthe
setup.exe installation program.
2. Proceed through the installation prompts.
3. Connect the USB Laptop Console 2, to a free USB
port on the client laptop using the supplied USB
mini-B to A cable. (The other connections to a
server are not needed at this point.)
4. A message may pop up which says “Found New
Hardware.”
5. Ifnecessary,Windowsshouldndthedevicedriver
lesandinstallthemautomatically.Thisisaone-
time step.
6. The USB Laptop Console 2 can be connected or
disconnected at any time once the software is installed.
Mac OS X:
1. PlugtheUSBashdrive(included)intoyourlaptop.
2. Double-click on the MacOSX-install.dmgleonthe
USBashdrive.
3. Anderwindowwillopenshowingtheapplication
and a link to the Applications folder. Drag the Console
application onto the Applications folder icon.
4. The application is now installed and ready for use.
Find it in the Applications folder and double click to
start.
5. If you would like to add this application to the Dock,
you can drag and drop it from the Applications folder
onto the Dock.
6. The USB Laptop Console 2 is now ready to be used.

Software Installation:
Before installing the software in a Windows or Apple computer, please ensure the USB Laptop Console 2 is
DISCONNECTED. Cancel any “Add new hardware” dialog screens as these can interfere with the installation process.
