First-time operation
Your car radio is delivered with a code fixed
ex factory. :
Before the unit can be put into operation the
four-digit code given in the enclosed car ra-
dio ID card must be entered.
@ Switch on the unit by turning the knob©.
“Cod* will be shown in the display.
@ Press one of the preset buttons @. The dis-
play shows “000*".
Use the preset buttons 1-4 to enter the secret
code indicated in the car radio ID card.
@ Press button 1 @) to enter the first digit “1“
: or “O" (blank).
@ Press the buttons 2, 3 and 4 as often as re-
quired until the display shows the specified
code.
@ Press the upper part of the search tuning
rocker switch ®.
If the entry is correct the unit can be operated.
If the entry is wrong “---“ is shown in the dis-
play for 10 sec.
After incorrect entry do not operate the unit
before having read the section “Anti-theft co-
ding“.
Quick Out
This car radio comes standard with a Quick
Out handle.
Quick Out allows you to pull the radio out of
the compartment and to take it along. The
preset stations remain stored.
If you wish to pull the unit out of the compart-
ment
@ press button © and pull the bracket.
In order to activate radio reception or cassette
playback
@ insert the set until it stops and turn the
bracket to the front panel.
The unit can be operated if the code sys-
tem is switched off.
If the code system is activated, please follow
the operating steps as described in “First-time
operation".

To switch over between the FM memory
banks UI-lIl and the Travelstore bank UT.
The display @ shows which bank is acti-
vated.

Adjusts volume front/rear. Pull knob (locks)
and turn. Press knob after adjustment.
@) Bass control - press knob
Treble control — pull knob
FM reception in the car
FM will give you the finest quality of music
and speech reproduction.
’ However, FM reception conditions are more
difficult in a moving car than in your home,
where the aerial is stationary. When your car
is in motion, signal strength is constantly fluc-
tuating, although you may not notice this.
The Blaupunkt reception concept ensures
that you can nearly always enjoy perfect
sound. However, if signal strength is insuffi-
cient (causing reception conditions to get
poor), you should tune in to a different FM
station.
Optimum reception can be obtained only if
the aerial is correctly mounted and in work-
ing order.

When four speakers are connected, maximum
volume is obtained in center position. When
two speakers are connected, turn the fader in
the appropriate speaker direction.
Radio reception
Selecting a station
... using the search tuning rocker switch
To start search tuning,
@ press button ® until the unit has tuned to
the desired station. If you hold this button
depressed, search tuning goes on faster.
The MODE button @ allows you to change
the search tuning sensitivity.
dx @ lights up - search tuning stops at all re-
ceivable stations.
No display - search tuning only stops at
strong local stations.
... using preset buttons and memory banks
For this, stations must have been stored pre-
viously as described in section “Storing a sta-
tion“.
@ Press the button 3 U-T @ as often as re-
quired until the desired memory bank |, II or
{11 @ is displayed.
@ Then press momentarily the corresponding
preset button @.
.-. using Travelstore
For this, stations must have been stored pre-
viously with Travelstore as described in sec-
tion “Storing a station“.
Switch on the Travelstore function by
@ pressing the button 3U-T@.
“UT“ lights up in the display @, @.
@ To select the stations automatically stored,
press one of the preset buttons @.
... using SCAN @)
To preview radio programs.
@ Press the button SCAN @.
Search tuning starts to the next receivable
‘station.
The program of this station is previewed for
a short moment. Then search tuning starts
to the following station, etc.
As soon as you have found the desired sta-
tion, 2
@ press the button SCAN once again. The
scanning function is switched off.
... using the Preset Scan button PS @
To select all stations stored on the activated
waveband.
For this, stations must have been stored pre-
viously as described in section “Storing a sta-
tion".
@ Press the PS button momentarily to pre-
view the next station stored.
The program of that station will be previewed
for a moment. Then the following station will
be scanned, etc.
If no station is stored on one of the preset but-
tons, this one will be skipped.

As
soon
as
you
have
found
the
desired
sta-
tion,
@ press the button PS once again. The func-
tion Preset Scan is switched off.
Storing a station
... using automatic search tuning
This unit allows you to store 3x5 FM stations
on three memory banks. Another 5 stations
can be stored on the Travelstore bank Ur @,
see ... using Travelstore.
The memory banks can be selected by means
of the button 3U-T®.
The stations stored on the memory banks can
be called up by pressing the relevant button.
To store a station, please proceed as follows:
@ Select one of the memory banks U1 - UIIl
by pressing the button 3U-T@ as often as
required.
The display shows which memory bank is
activated (I, Il or Ill).
® |f you have found a station you wish to
Store, press the preset button on which you
want to store that station.
The program will be muted.
Keep pressing the preset button until the
audio comes back (about 3 seconds). Then
the station is stored.
The
preset
indicator
@
shows
which
button
you have pressed.
Repeat
these
steps
for
the
other
preset
but-
tons, if required, on all memory banks.
-.. Using manual search tuning
This function serves to store a station fre-
quency without yet being in that station‘s
range. For this,
@ select one of the memory banks by means
of the rocker switch 3U-T @.
@ Press the rocker switch <</>>@ until the
frequency is shown in the display.
If you press the rocker switch repeatedly,
tuning is done in small frequency steps.
Keep the rocker switch depressed for
faster tuning.
Tuning is done in 50 kHz steps, e.g. >> 92.00;
92.05, 92.10; 92.15 or :
<< 92.15; 92.10; 92.05; 92.00.
The second digit behind the colon is not dis-
played. :
To store the frequency,
@ press the corresponding preset button (un-
til the audio comes back).
Besides the stations stored on the memory
banks, the unit also stores the station tuned in
last.
... using Travelstore
This function allows you to automatically sto-
re 5 FM stations of the current reception area
on the Travelstore bank provided that an ade-
quate reception quality is ensured. This func-
tion is especially helpful when travelling.
@ Press the button 3 U-T @ for about 2 se-
conds. During each tuning the unit memo-
rizes the five strongest stations.
The storéd stations can be called up again
from the Travelstore bank Ur @ by means of
the preset buttons@. ~
* Cassette playback
When playing cassettes please follow the in-
structions outlined below:
@ Turn the unit on.
@ Slide the cassette into the cassette slot so
that side A or 1 is uppermost. After auto-
matic activation of the drive mechanism the
cassette is played back in the direction se-
lected
last.
The
relevant
track
direction
in-
dicator @ (¥ or A) lights up.
@ Adjust volume and tone.

When the end of the tape is reached the unit
automatically switches to the other direction
(auto-reverse) and the other track direction
indicator (¥ or A) lights up. You are now liste-
ning to the other side of the cassette.
Caution!
Stiff cassettes may change the playback di-
rection before the end of the tape is reached.
Should this happen the tape real should be
inspected, and respooling the cassette may
prove helpful.
Care of your cassettes and unit
This car radio is a precision unit.
Its cassette mechanism is equipped with a
high-performance tape head, giving it a long
life and top-quality reproduction.
In order to ensure trouble-free operation,
please look after your cassettes and your
equipment. ;
We recommend the use of C 60 tape casset-
tes.
You may expect less wear and tear on the
running parts and better operation behaviour
from a cassette produced by a leading manu-
facturer.
Metal, ferrous oxide, chromium dioxide and
ferrichrome cassettes can be used.
Protect your cassettes from dirt and dust by
keeping them in suitable containers.
Heat exceeding 50 ° C, e.g. direct rays of the
sun, may damage your cassettes.
During
cold
weather,
allow
any
cassettes
left
in
the
car
to
warm
up
before
playing.
In
this
way,
you
will
avoid
irregular
tape
run-
ning.
Slight
accumulation
of
dirt
and
dust
should
be
cleaned
with
a
wet
or
dry
cleaning
cassette.
You
can
buy
such
cassettes
from
your
specialized
dealer.
Operating
trouble
and
sound
interference
may
occur
after
about
one
hundred
hours
of
playing
time,
depending
on
tape
quality.
This
is
caused
by
dust
from
the
tape
adhering
to
the
rubber
rolier
pad
and
the
tape
head.
In
the
event
of
a
heavy
accumula-

tion of dirt, clean these parts with a cotton
wool bud dipped in alcohol. Never use hard
tools for this.
After a lengthy period of use, the unit should
be examined and thoroughly cleaned by an.
expert.
This maintenance work is not part of the ser-
vice covered by our guarantee conditions.
Anti-theft coding
Your car radio is equipped with a code fixed
ex factory.
After first-time operation or whenever the
power supply of the unit has been interrupted
(e.g. in case of theft or repair) the car radio
asks for the correct code to be entered.
If a wrong code is entered, the unit will shut
down for 10 sec. “---“ will be displayed. All
functions are biocked.
After three unsuccessful attempts the waiting
time will be 1 hour. After another 16 such at-
tempts (“OFF“ is shown in the display) the car
radio can only be Getaden by authorized ser-
vice personnel.
The code system can be switched off, so that
the unit can be switched on directly after
each voltage interruption.
The fix code, predetermined ex factory, can
be taken from the enclosed car radio ID card.
Attention!
Keep your car radio ID card in a safe place to
avoid that any unauthorized person can find
out the four-digit code.
If you forget your code (or if you lose your ID
card), you will not be able to operate the unit
after the power supply was interrupted.
In this case, your radio will have to be decod-
ed in our central service workshop or in our
foreign agencies on presentation of the pur-
chase receipt.

interruption of power supply
If the unit is put into operation for the first time
or if the power supply has been interrupted,
the logo “Cod“ will be shown in the display
when the unit is switched on.
Use the preset buttons 1-4 to enter the secret
code indicated in the car radio ID card.
@ Press button 1 @ to enter the first digit “1“
or “O" (blank).
@ Press the buttons 2, 3 and 4 as often as re-
quired until the display shows the specified
code.
@ Press the upper part of the search tuning
rocker switch @.
If the code has been entered correctly, the
unit can be operated. ~
If a wrong code has been entered, the display
indicates “---“ for 10 sec.
After the third unsuccessful attempt the wait-
ing time will be 1 hour and after another 16
unsuccessful attempts “OFF* will be shown in
the display. Then the car radio can only be
decoded in a central Blaupunkt service
workshop.
if the set is switched off during the waiting pe-
riod, the waiting period commences anew
after switching the set on.
Switching-off the code system.
For this the unit must be ready for operation
(“Cod* must not light up).
If you wish to switch off the code system
@ switch the unit off.
@ Press the preset buttons 1 and 4 simul-
taneously (hold them depressed) and
@ switch the unit on.
* “Cod“ is shown in the display.
@ Now enter the secret fixed code and
@ press the upper part of the search tuning
rocker switch.
The code system is switched off. The unit
plays the program of the station tuned in last.
Activate the code system
@ Switch the unit off.
@ Press the preset buttons 1 and 4 simulta-
neouisy (keep them depressed) and
@ switch the unit on.
“Cod"“ is shown for a moment followed by the
frequency tuned in last.
Coding is activated.
Optical indication of theft protection
As optical warning of the encoded car radio,
the LED V @ flashes when car radio and igni-
tion are switched off, provided the car radio
has been connected correspondingly.
For this, please see the corresponding instal-
lation instructions.
