User’s Manual
1. This appliance conforms to current safety requirements. Improper installation, adjustment, alteration,
service or maintenance or inappropriate use can, however, lead to personal injury and damage to
property.
2. To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the appliance, please read these instructions carefully
before using it for the first time.
3. Keep these instructions in a safe place and ensure that other users including new users are familiar
with the contents.
4. Do not modify the power cord length or sharing of outlet with other appliances and don’t replace
the power cord with the damaged or unspecified power cord. It will cause electric shock or fire. If
the power cord is damaged, it should be replaced by authorised service person as specified by the
manufacturer.
5. Plug in the power socket properly. Loose plug in causes electric shock or fire due to heat generation.
6. Do not switch ON/OFF the appliance with wet hands. It may cause electric shock.
7. Use only dedicated power socket for supply to the appliance. Do not use an extension cord; it may
cause overloading and intermittent tripping of other appliances or household lights.
8. Never splash water on your appliance. It may cause short circuit.
9. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding (earthing) reduces the risk of electric shock by
providing an escape wire for the electric current. In order to prevent possible electric shock, this
appliance must be grounded. Consult a qualified electrician or service person if you have doubts on
whether the appliance is properly grounded. Improper use of the grounding plug can result in an
electric shock.
10. Never unplug your appliance by pulling on the power cord. Always grip plug firmly and pull it straight
out from the outlet.
11. When moving your appliance away from the wall, be careful not to roll over the power cord or damage
it in any way.
12. Unplug the power cord from the outlet for cleaning or other requirements. Never touch it with wet
hands because you can get an electric shock or be hurt.

13. Never damage, process, pull out, or twist the power cord, because damage of power cord may cause
a fire or electric shock.
14. Do not place the lit candle within the appliance to deodorise. It may cause explosion or fire.
15. Do not use or store inflammable materials like ether, benzene, alcohol, medicine, LP gas, spray,
cosmetics or aerosol cans with flammable propellant near or in the appliance. It may cause explosion
or fire.
16. When any strange smell or smoke is detected from the appliance, disconnect the power plug
immediately and contact the service centre, for it may cause fire.
17. The appliance should be so positioned that the supply plug is accessible for disconnecting quickly
when an unexpected accident happens.
18. Do not operate any other electrical appliance (e.g. an electric ice cream maker) inside the Chest Freezer.
19. Do not store cans or bottles containing carbonated drinks or liquids (which could freeze in the freezer
mode). The cans or bottles could explode causing injury and damage to the appliance.
20. The cooler mode is for maintaining the pre-cooled products. This mode is not suitable to perform
fast pull down but it can maintain product temperature.
21. When the ambient temperature and relative humidity are high, there may be frost or water condensed
on the appliance. It's a normal phenomenon, please wipe it with the dry towel.
22. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children
should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
23. For assistance and/or additional information, contact the authorised service centre, sales & service
dealer.
Caution
1. Before use, the appliance must be placed horizontally and on a levelled base. Only by this way an
unimpeded circuit of the refrigerant and optimum function can be ensured.
2. When your appliance is in operation, do not touch the cold surface in the cabinet, particularly with
your hands that are damp or wet. Skin could adhere to these extremely cold surfaces. It may cause
frostbite.

7
User’s Manual
3. Wait for 10 minutes or longer before reconnecting the plug. (It may cause the operation of the
appliance to fail.)
4. Do not install the appliance in a wet place or a place where water or rain splashes. (Deterioration of
insulation of electrical parts may cause electrical leakage.)
5. Deep-frozen ice cream and ice lollies must be eaten only after a few minutes of being taken out from
the appliance to avoid injury to lips and tongue (danger of skin detachment).
6. If you are not using the appliance for an extended period, leave the lid open to prevent odours
building up inside. When the appliance lid is open, always set the lock in closed position and keep
the key away from small children to prevent accidents.
Technical safety
This appliance contains a small amount of natural refrigerant (R290, R600a), a natural gas that is
environment friendly. Though it is ammable, it does not damage the ozone layer and does not increase
the greenhouse eect. When transporting and installing the appliance, care should be taken to ensure that
no parts of the refrigerating circuits are damaged. Refrigerant squirting out of the pipes could ignite or
cause an eye injury. In the event of eye contact with the refrigerant, wash your eyes instantly with plenty
of running water and call/consult an eye specialist immediately. If a leak is detected,
a) avoid any flames or anything which creates a spark,
b) switch off at the mains and unplug the appliance,
c) ventilate the room where the appliance is located for several minutes, and
d) call Blue Star Ltd.
The room must be 1 cubic metre in size for every 8g of R290 or R600a, whichever refrigerant inside the
appliance. The amount of refrigerant in your particular appliance is shown on the identication plate. The
refrigerant charge quantities are as per international standards. Never start up an appliance showing any
sign of damage. If in doubt, consult your dealer. The amount of refrigerant used in the appliance depends
upon the size of the room where it will be installed. This can prevent creation of ammable gas and air
mixture if a leak in refrigerating circuit occurs.

Maintenance
Frosting
Small amount of frost will accumulate inside the appliance, depending upon the frequency and duration of
the lid operation or the amount of moisture inside and relative humidity outside. It is essential to ensure
that no frost or ice is allowed to form at places where it will aect the close tting of the lid, which might
allow air to penetrate the cabinet, thus encouraging continuous running of the compressor.
Removing frost
Thin frost formation is quite soft and can be removed with a brush or a plastic scraper.
Do not use metal or sharp scrapers which may lead to removal of paint from the surface
of the cabinet.
Remove all dislodged frost from the cabinet floor. For the removal of light frost, it is not necessary
to switch off the appliance.
For removing heavy ice deposits, the appliance should be completely disconnected from
the power supply and emptied.
The contents should be placed in a cardboard box and wrapped in thick blankets or layers of paper
to keep them cold.
Cleaning
Clean the inside with warm water mixed with a little bicarbonate of soda and then dry thoroughly.
Wash all removable parts in the same way and reassemble. Do not forget to insert the drain plug.
Clean the condenser with the blower every fortnight.
Defrost Water Drainage Method
1. There is a water conduit at the bottom of the appliance; when defrosting, pull out the plastic cover;
defrosted water will drip into the hole and flow out. (Note: Please keep the plastic cover safe during
the defrosting and put it back after defrosting is done.)
2. Pull out the water conduit by 20-25mm until the water hole can be seen.
3. Twist the water conduit until the arrow points downward.
4. After defrosting is done, make sure there is no more water coming out; then put the plastic cover
back in place and make the arrow point upward.
