The BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo is an entirely new breed of vehicle and although it follows in the tradition of the stylish, classic Gran Turismo, it has
a unique objective: to create the most impressive interior ever to be enveloped by an elegantly dynamic roofl ine. Impressive in every aspect: Firstly,
there’s the surprising feeling of spaciousness. Then there are the specially selected colours and materials that enhance the space and create a

The raised seating position makes for easy
entry and exit. It noticeably improves visibility
and gives you a feeling of superior driving
confi dence.
In the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo you
can expect true luxury class from the moment
you step inside. The dashboard is slightly tilted
towards the driver for optimum ergonomics.
Smoothly fl owing surfaces as well as a
generous sense of space combine to create
an atmosphere of modernity and wellbeing.
Plus you’ll discover carefully designed details
wherever you look – like the high-gloss
galvanised décor elements. The black panel
technology is a further aesthetic delight:

At the maximum comfort setting, rear passengers
enjoy generous leg room typical of a luxury
saloon. The luggage compartment volume is
4 4 0 litres. A separating panel behind the seats
insulates passengers thermally and acoustically
from the luggage compartment, no matter how
the seats are adjusted.
Experience travel at its most pleasant in the rear of the new BMW 5 Series
Gran Turismo. The interior welcomes passengers with its fi nely crafted and
stylishly selected materials. What’s more, the front and rear of the interior
have been designed so that they harmoniously merge to form one aesthetic
whole. Giving the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo a wholly exceptional
sense of space.
To round off this luxurious ambiance, the rear can be adapted to perfectly
suit your individual needs, and any imaginable requirement. The backrests
can be reclined as much as 3 3 degrees – as far as 4 0 degrees if you opt
for comfort seats – and the seats themselves can be moved back and forth
by up to ten centimetres. So the choice is yours: enjoy the amazing amount
of leg room or benefi t from a particularly large storage space. The former will
provide you with plenty of room to relax and enjoy for example the impressive
rear entertainment*, an option which encompasses two high-resolution
screens of up to 9 .2 -inches integrated into the front seat backrests. Also
available as an option, or as standard for the BMW 5 5 0 i and 5 3 5 d, is the
4 -zone automatic air conditioning, which perfects rear passenger comfort
with air vents in the B-pillar and separate controls.

If the separating panel is unlocked, its position
is adjusted in line with the position of the seats
and increases the luggage compartment
volume. The seats can be moved for ward up
to a maximum of 1 0 0 mm, which increases
the luggage compartment volume when the
separating panel is upright to 5 9 0 litres.
A maximum luggage compartment volume
of 1 ,7 0 0 litres is achieved when the seats are
entirely folded down.
Of course you can choose any number of
different confi gurations to precisely suit your
personal requirements. The separating panel,
backrests and the seats themselves can all
be separately adjusted – and the individual
comfort seats can also be electrically controlled.
SECOND ROW. FIRST CLASS.
Individual comfort seats are optionally
available in the rear. Adjustable in a myriad
of different ways, these seats provide an
even more relaxing ride for rear passengers –
the backrests can even be reclined as much
as 4 0 degrees.

With maximum leg room and locked separating
panel the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo offers a
storage capacity of 4 4 0 litres.
Every day, an automobile needs to satisfy a diverse range of demands. The new BMW 5 Series
Gran Turismo handles every challenge with astonishing versatility. Like for example the two-piece
tailgate. Smaller items can be quickly and comfortably loaded using a separate lid below the rear
window. The advantage: passengers remain protected from cold temperatures and wind thanks to
the variable separating panel and the secure luggage compartment cover.
When the rear seats are moved forwards and
the separating panel is unlocked, the capacity
increases to up to 5 9 0 litres.

The striking contours of the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo are matched only by its impressive
capacity. Under its elegant silhouette there lies a massive storage space of up to 1 ,7 0 0 litres. Plenty
of room for the bags from the BMW Lifestyle Collection shown here – and so much more. Thanks to
the variously adjustable rear seats and backrests, variable separating panel between the luggage
compartment and rear seats, as well as numerous fastening and storage options, you’ll enjoy a very
special level of comfort: always exactly the right kind of interior for any occasion.

can be folded back at a 4 0 : 2 0 : 4 0 ratio.
The maximum storage space of 1 ,7 0 0 litres is
achieved by completely folding down the rear
backrests.

High Precision Injection
In this latest generation of petrol direct injection,
the Piezo injectors are positioned very close to the
spark plugs. They inject the fuel at high pressure
and with extreme precision to ensure particularly
effi cient combustion.
BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology
This innovative exhaust turbocharger effi ciently
recaptures the energy present in exhaust
through the use of two chargers (5 5 0 i and 5 3 5 d),
or alternatively the double-fl ow exhaust system
of the TwinScroll turbocharger (5 3 5 i).
8 -speed automatic transmission Steptronic
The particularly smooth gear shifts of the new
8 -speed automatic transmission produce greater
engine ef fi ciency at every speed. The result: a
reduction in fuel consumption of approximately 6 %
and more comfortable gear changes.

BMW Effi cientDynamics. It includes the visionary Hydrogen engine, already used in completely emission-free BMW Hydrogen 7 vehicles and BMW ActiveHybrid technology, an intelligent,
demand-oriented combination of internal combustion engine and electric motor. Every BMW, in fact, includes a multi-award-winning BMW Effi cientDynamics technology package as standard,
boosting even further while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption and CO2emissions.
Air vent control*
Engine management determines the engine’s
cooling requirements constantly while driving,
making a permanent airstream through the radiator
unnecessary. The air vents in front of the radiator
open or close depending on the outside
temperature and road speed. When shut, they
improve aerodynamics, shorten the engine’s
warm-up time and so reduce fuel consumption.

Tyres with reduced rolling-resistance*
While driving, tyres are constantly changing shape. This uses
energy and thus fuel. Tyres with reduced rolling-resistance
have an improved design and use special materials for their
treads and sidewalls, which limits deformation.
Brake Energy Regeneration*
To supply the battery with electrical energy, the generator is
ordinarily driven using engine power, which demands permanent
fuel consumption. Brake Energy Regeneration means the
generator produces electricity when the driver either takes his
foot off the accelerator or brakes – while coasting, previously
unused kinetic energy is transformed into electrical energy
before being fed into the battery. This fuel-free charging process
is indicated by a symbol on the rev counter.

Lightweight engineering
Where it makes sense to use light materials, our
engineers use aluminium – for example, in the
front part of the car and the chassis. Additionally,
the roof is entirely aluminium and, thanks to an
aluminium crankcase, the six-cylinder diesel
engine is among the lightest in its class. The
weight savings reduce fuel consumption and
at the same time optimise the axle load
distribution for improved dynamics.
