Model 745 Quick Start
For Controlling the 745 using the Front Panel
When power is turned on, the Model 745 displays the model name, the serial number, and the
firmware version. It then performs a brief SELF TEST. After approximately 10 seconds the
message INTERNAL CLOCK is displayed on the LCD screen. This is the beginning of the Main
Menu.
Press the Up (▲) or Down (▼) button to scroll through the all of the Main Menus.
The Main Menus are:
T0 Settings for the zero delay, output reference pulse (trigger source, pulse
amplitude, and pulse width)
Clock In Select the frequency if you are synchronizing to an external clock (80 MHz or
10 MHz)
T1 thru T8 Settings for each output channel (trigger source, delay time, pulse amplitude, and
pulse width)
Trigger Ext Select the edge and level settings if you are triggering from an external device
Frequency 1 Select the frequency of Internal Trigger Generator 1
Frequency 2 Select the frequency of Internal Trigger Generator 2
Trigger Elect to begin a trigger sequence with a push of the OK button
Status Displays the current Trigger Status of output channels T1 thru T8
MOD 745 Displays the name, serial number and firmware version of your Model 745
Internal Clock Displays whether the 745 is synched of not synched to an external clock
When a Main Menu item is displayed, you can press the OK button to display the Sub-Menus
within that Main Menu.
Press the Up (▲) or Down (▼) button to scroll through the Sub-Menu items.
When a Sub-Menu item is displayed, you can press the OK button to make changes to settings
within that Sub-Menu.
To save settings, press the OK button. To back up without saving, press the ESC button.
In short:
The Model 745 starts up in Main Menu mode
Press ▲to scroll through Main Menu choices
If you want to make a change in a particular Main Menu, press OK to view the Sub-Menu
Press ▲to scroll through Sub-Menu choices
If you want to make a change in a particular Sub-Menu, press OK to activate the cursor
When you’ve made your changes, press OK
Press ▲to scroll through more Sub-Menus
Press ▲again to scroll through more Main Menus
If you’re satisfied with your settings, you’re done

For Controlling the 745 using the Ethernet GUI
The Ethernet GUI allows you to view multiple channels and their properties from a single screen
on your PC. Changing parameters is easier and faster than with Front Panel pushbuttons.
(It is assumed that the operator knows how to assign IP addresses manually or via DHCP)
Turn on the Model 745. In approximately 10 seconds the LCD displays INTERNAL CLOCK
Press the Up (▲) or Down (▼) button to scroll through the all of the Main Menus.
The menu MOD 745 displays the name, serial number and firmware version of your Model 745.
Press OK twice. The LCD displays the IP address of your Model 745. Use the Front Panel
pushbuttons to change the IP address if necessary.
Connect the Model 745 Ethernet port to your network or your PC.
Turn off and turn on the power for the Model 745.
Open a browser program on your PC.
Enter the IP address of your Model 745 into the browser’s address field.
The PC window will display the Current Configuration of your Model 745.
You may choose to view the Setup, Trigger, Status, or Security windows.
Click on the tab for Setup. When prompted, enter the default user name: BNC. Then enter the
default password: bnc.
The PC screen will display the Setup window. You may view and/or change all the important
settings from this window.

Click on the tab for Trigger. Now the screen changes to show the Trigger screen. You may
begin a Trigger Cycle by mouse clicking on the “Trigger” button.
In short:
Connect an Ethernet cable between the 745 and your PC or network
Display the IP address of the Model 745 on the LCD screen
Open a browser on your PC
Type the displayed IP address into your browser’s address line
You should now be connected
