9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A
polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding-
type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong.The wide blade, or the
third prong, are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into
your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at
plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the ap-
paratus.
11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
12. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long peri-
ods of time.
13. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when
the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or
plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the appa-
ratus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not oper-

The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an
equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the
presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the
product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magni-
tude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is
intended to alert the user to the presence of impor-
tant operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions
in the literature accompanying the appliance.

SEL
1. Reset: Returns settings to factory defaults (recessed button).
2. Power/Volume: Press to turn unit on or off. (In addition, press any button
except disc eject to turn unit on.) Rotate to adjust volume.
When in Audio or Menu Select modes, rotating dial scrolls through options.
3. CD Slot: Insert disc here.
4. LCD Display: Displays CD player, radio frequency, or time information.
5. Disc Eject: Press to eject the disc inside the CD player.
6. Mode: Press to switch between Radio, CD, and AUX modes. CD Mode will only
display when there is a disc in the CDR1.
7. Audio/Menu Select: Press button to scroll through Audio options:Volume,
Bass,Treble, and Balance. Press and hold for 1sec. to scroll through Menu op-
tions:Volume, DSP, Seek and Clock.When an option is displayed on LCD Dis-
play, turn Volume knob to adjust setting.
8. Mute: Mutes output. Press Mute button or turnVolume knob to cancel mute.
9. Scan: Scans through radio stations.
10. Stereo/Mono: Selects Mono or Stereo mode for FM radio bands.
11. Station Store/Select (A.PS): Scans presets in all bands, plays each for 5
seconds.
12. CD Control/Radio Memory: Stores six station presets in each radio band,
and controls four CD functions:
– Press to pause CD. Press and hold to return to first track
– Browses first 10 seconds of each track
– Repeats current track
– Plays tracks in random order
13. LOUD: Provides loudness contour.As volume increases, effect diminishes.
14. Display: Selects either radio frequency/track information display or clock
display. Press button to display time. Press and hold to enter hour setting mode,
then turn volume knob to set hour. Pressing DISP again enters minute setting
mode, then turn volume knob to set minutes. Press DISP again to accept time.

1. DC Power: Power supply input.
2.Antenna: Provides 75-ohm FM antenna input.
3. Right/Left Output: Provides separate, 50-ohm right/left outputs.
4. Mono Output: Provides 50-ohm, mono-summed right/left output.
5. Speaker Output: Provides right/left speaker outputs (8-ohm minimum) via
pluggable screw terminals.
6.Antenna: Provides pluggable screw terminal inputs for the AM loop and FM
dipole antennas.
Audio and Menu Select Modes
Audio Mode is selected by pressing the Audio/Menu Select Mode button (7).
Entering the Audio Mode allows the user to adjust Bass,Treble, and Balance set-
tings. Use the Volume Knob to make the adjustments.
Select the Menu Mode by pressing and holding the same Audio/Menu Select Mode
button.The Audio/Menu Select button then scrolls through the following options:
DSP, SEEK, CLOCK and VOL. Use the Volume Knob to change the settings.
The DSP feature offers three EQ presets: CLASS (Classical), ROCK, and POP,
as well as FLAT (No EQ boost) and OFF options.
SEEK allows the user to adjust the function of the Station Adjust buttons
(17).When in Seek 1, the Station Adjust button will scan and stop on a strong
station signal. In Seek 2, the Station Adjust button will manually increment to a
desired frequency.
CLOCK feature displays the time in either 12-hour or 24-hour format.
15.Audio Input Connector: Provides 1/8" Stereo jack for AUX audio source.
16. Band Switch: In radio mode, press button to switch between FM1, FM2,
FM3, AM1, and AM2.
17. Station Adjust/Music Select: Selects station in radio mode, or selects track
in CD mode. Press and hold more than 1sec. to scan stations/tracks.

When VOL is displayed, turn the Volume Knob to select either LAST or ADJ.
When VOL ADJ is displayed, press the SEL button to select this feature.
A --VOL will be displayed, then turn the Volume Knob right or left to adjust the
starting volume up or down.

VOL feature selects the volume the unit will play at when first powered up.The
two options are VOL LAST, which selects the volume the system was played
at before being powered down, or VOL ADJ, which allows the user to set a
default power-up volume:
Note: Disconnecting power to the CDR1will reset all settings to their factory
defaults.
Compact Disc and Player Care Instructions
In order to avoid sound degradation the following instructions should be fol-
lowed in caring for compact discs:
• Always store discs in their cases when not being used.
• When storing, avoid locations with high or low temperatures or high humidity.
• Do not store in direct sunlight.
• Keep discs clean by wiping them gently with soft cloth from the inner edge to
the outer periphery. If necessary, dip a soft cloth in water and, after wringing
it out well, wipe any dirt away gently and then wipe dry with a soft cloth. Do
not use any cleaners or liquids other than water, to clean discs.
• When handling a disc, grip the outside part of the disc in order to avoid
touching the signal line.
• Do not affix gummed labels or tape to the surface of the disc or the label on
the disc.
• Do not use compact discs with special shapes (such as heart-shaped or octag-
onal discs) as they may damage the player.

The Bogen CDR1 CD Player with AM/FM Receiver is warranted to be free from defects in
material or workmanship for two (2) years from the date of sale to the original purchaser.
Any part of the product covered by this warranty that, with normal installation and use, be-
comes defective will be repaired or replaced by Bogen, at our option, provided the prod-
uct is shipped insured and prepaid to: Bogen Factory Service Department, 50 Spring
Street, Ramsey, NJ 07446, USA. The product will be returned to you freight prepaid. This
warranty does not extend to any of our products that have been subjected to abuse, mis-
use, improper storage, neglect, accident, improper installation or have been modified or re-
paired or altered in any manner whatsoever, or where the serial number or date code has
been removed or defaced.
THE FOREGOING LIMITED WARRANTY IS BOGEN’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE WAR-
RANTY AND THE PURCHASER’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY. BOGEN MAKES
NO OTHER WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AND ALL
IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE ARE HEREBY DISCLAIMED AND EXCLUDED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT
ALLOWABLE BY LAW. Bogen's liability arising out of the manufacture, sale or supplying
of products or their use or disposition, whether based upon warranty, contract, tort or oth-
erwise, shall be limited to the price of the product. In no event shall Bogen be liable for spe-
cial, incidental or consequential damages (including, but not limited to, loss of profits, loss
of data or loss of use damages) arising out of the manufacture, sale or supplying of prod-
ucts, even if Bogen has been advised of the possibility of such damages or losses. Some
States do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so
the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific
legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from State to State.
Products that are out of warranty will also be repaired by the Bogen Factory Service De-
partment -- same address as above or call 201-934-8500. The parts and labor involved in
these repairs are warranted for 90 days when repaired by the Bogen Factory Service De-
partment. All shipping charges in addition to parts and labor charges will be at the owner's
expense. All returns require a Return Authorization number.
