rying out maintenance or repair work which involves

Danger of exPlosion!
Warning: |Íyou would |ike to use your microwave in
a cupboard, on a shelf or similar item, please ensure
that you maintain a space of at least 10 cm to cup-
boards, walls etc for ventilation purposes on all sides
of the machine.
Warning: Children and frail indivlduals may only
use the oven without supervision if they have been
instructed in its use in such a way that they are able to
use the device safely and understand the dangers oÍ
incorrect operation.
Warning: |Íthe device is operated using combi-
ned mode children may use the device only when
supervised by adults due to the temperatures that are
produced.
Note: The microwave oven is not suitable for
warming/heating up living animals.
Only suitable tableware should be used such as:
glass, porcelain, ceramics, heat-resistant plastic or
special microwave tableware.

Delay in boiling: During boiling, particularly during
the reheating oÍ|iquids (water), it may happen that the
boiling temperature has been reached but the typical
bubbles hpve not yet started to rise. The liquid does not
boil evenly. When the vessel is removed this so-called
delay in boiling may result in the sudden formation of
bubbles when the vessel is knocked, causing the water
to boi| over. There is a serious danger oÍburns! |n
order to achieve even boiling, please place a glass rod
or similar item, but nothing metallic, in the vessel'
The contents of babies' bottles and jars of baby
Íood must be stirred or shaken and the temperature
checked beÍore use. There is a danger of burns'
Food with a shell or skin, such as eggs, sausages,
sealed jars etc. must not be heated up in the micro-
wave as they may explode even when heating by the
microwaves is finished.
Any dirt on the door frame/door seal and neighbou-
ring parts must be carefully cleaned with a damp
cloth.
Clean the microwave oven regularly and remove any
food residues from the interior.
lf the machine is not clean the surface may be
damaged, afÍecting its serviceab|e |iÍe and possib|y
resulting in hazardous situations.

lnitial Operation
. lf there are cooking or oil residues on the shell or
heating elemenl, this could initially generate smoke
or odor. This is a norma| and wilI stop aÍter repeated
use.
|t is high|y recommended to proceed as Ío|lows:
Set the appliance to hot air or grill and let it run
without any Íood inside. Make sure there is enough
ventilation.
Take note! Cooking without food can be done only
in hot air or grill mode. Do not do this in combo or
microwave mode!
. Take the accessories out of the oven and unpack
them. First place the rotating base in position and
then put the glass plate on top in such a way that it
grips into the indentations and is lying flat.
. In order to ensure your children's safety, please keep
all packaging (plastic bags, boxes, polystyrene etc.)
out of their reach.
. Check the device for any visible damage, particularly
in the area of the door. lf any damage is found, the
machine must not be used.
. ln order to avoid interference to other machines when
the microwave oven is operated, do not place it in the
direct vicinity oÍother e|ectronic devices.
. Remove any protective foils that may be adhered to
the housing.
. The Íoi|s on the inside oÍthe door must not be
removed!
. Inserl the mains plug into a properly installed 230 V,
50 Hz power socket.
Using the Device
What you should know about microwave operation
. Your device works with microwave radiation, which
heats up water particles in food in a very short time.
There is no heat radiation and thereÍore hard|y any
browning.
. only Íoodshou|d be heated up with this device'
. Do not fry food in the microwave as hot oil may dama-
ge the oven and lead to skin burns.
. Only 1-2 portions should be heated up at the same
time. Otherwise the microwave will become less
eff icient.
. Press the STOP key to interrupt the cooking process.
. Microwaves provide their Íu|| energy |eve|s immediate-
ly. Pre-heating is therefore not necessary,
. Never operate the microwave Íunction when the oven
is empty.
. The microwave oven does not replace your traditional

. As heat radiation is used during grilling and combined
operation, please use only heat-resistant tableware'
. When Íood !s on|y being gri||ed, meta| or a|uminium
tableware may also be used -but not during combined
or microwave operation.
. Do not place anything on top of the housing as this
becomes hot. Always leave the ventilation slits unco-
vereo.
. Please use the grilling grid to move the food to be
cooked nearer to the heating element'
Su itable Microwave Tableware
. The ideal material for use in a microwave is transpa-
rent and allows the microwave radiation to heat the
food evenly.
. Microwaves are not able to penetrate metal, so that
no metal vessels or plates should be used.
. Do not use any paper dishes made of recycled ma-
teria| as these may contain sma|| amounts oÍmeta|,
which may result in sparks or fires.
. Round/ova| dishes and p|ates aÍe more suitab|e than
rectangu|ar ones aS the Íood in the corners may
overcooK.
. Strips oÍthin a|uminium Íoi| can protect {ood against
overheating, but please note that there must be a
c|ear distance oÍapproximate|y 3 cm between tne
aluminium foil and the internal wall.
The list below is intended to help you select suitable
microwave tableware:

Tip: When swilching Íor the first time, a|| disp|ays wi|| light
up initially followed by two flashing dots.
Press the STOP key.
Press the CLOCK key. The display will show "0:00".
The first digit starts to flash.
Set the desired hour using the control knob.
Press the CLOCK key. The second digit starts to
f lash.
Set the desired minute using the control knob.
Press the CLOCK key again or wait several seconds.
The new time is activated.
Operating the Microwave
Place the food to be heated up into suitable tableware.
open the door and place the vessel in the midd|e oÍthe
glass plate. Then close the door. (For safety reasons the
device only works when the door is firmly closed')
1. Press the STOP button.

POWER button once or several times.

4. Press the START button to staÍtthe machine. The
|ength oÍcooking depends on the quantity and con-
sistency of the contents. With a little practice you will
soon leprn to estimate the cooking time.
Please note: cooking in the microwave oven is very
much Íaster than in a standard cooker. líyou are
not sure, set the cooking time to low and continue
cooking afterwards if necessarY.
After the time has elapsed the oven switches itse|Í off
and the word ,,END" appears in the display. Then you
can remove the food.
Automatic defrosting
For automatic defrosting of frozen meat, poultry and
seafood please proceed as follows:
1. Press the STOP bulton.
2. Press the DEFROST button. You are now in the de-

Warming
The warming and heating oÍÍood is a par:ticu|ar strength
of the microwave. Liquids and foods that are in the
refrigerator can be easily brought up to room temperature
or the r|ght temperature Íorconsumption without the need
for many pots.
The heating times contained in the following table are
only rough guides as the time depends very much on the
starting temperature and the composition of the food. You
are therefore advi.sed to check Íromtime to time whether
the dish is already hot enough.

Practical Cooking Tips
Please keep to the recommended values in the cooking
table and the recipes. Keep an eye on the cooking process
until you have more experience.
The door oÍthe microwave can be opened at any time' The
machine switches o{Íautomatica||y.
It starts again when the door is closed.
Foods taken directly from the refrigerator require a slightly
longer cooking time than those at room temperature.
The more compact a Íood is, the longer is the cooking time.
For examp|e, a |arge piece oímeat has to be cooked |on-
ger than the same quantity of sliced meat. lt is advisable to
start cooking sizeable quantities on maximum power and
then to continue cooking evenly on medium power.
F|at dishes cook Íaster than thick ones. Therefore it is
advisable to spread the food as thinly as possible. Thinner
pieces, e.g. chicken legs or fish Íi||etsshou|d be p|aced
towards the inside or allowed to overlap.
Smaller quantities cook faster than large ones
The following rule of thumb applies:
Double the quantity = almost double the time
Ha!Í the quantity - ha|Íthe time
lf you are not ab|e to Íind a suitab|e time for a dish, the
following rule applies:

To start express cooking press START again. The
cooking process will begin immediately and last one mi-
nute. Every time the key is pressed the cooking time will
extend by 10 seconds. After 5 minutes the cooking time
will extend by 30 seconds.

With the automatic mode you can cook a certain amount
of food automatically or bake bread in the 7 bread baking
programs. The |ength oÍcooking and microwave power
level are included in the programme.

Baking Bread
1. Pour the ingredients into the bread baking pan'

but it takes time. For this reason concentrated leaven
powder is used in the recipes below. The powder
is sold in 159 packets (for 1 kg of Í|our). Fol|ow the
instructions given in the recipes (1/2,3/t or 1 packet).
lf less leaven that requested is used the bread will
crumble.
. lÍleaven powders with a different concentration (100 g
packet for 1 kg of f|our) are used, the quantily oÍf|our

. Wheat leaven which often comes dry improves the
workabi|ity of the dough, the Íreshness and the taste.
It is milder that rye leaven.
. Use either the BASIC or WHOLE WHEAT program
when baking leavened bread. Baking ferment can
used to rep|ace the |eaven. The on|y difÍerence is
in the taste. lt is Íitto be used in the bread baking
machine.
. Wheat bran is added to the dough if you want particu-
larly light bread rich in roughage. Use one tablespoon
for 500 g oÍf|our and increase the quantity of |iquid by
% tablespoon.
. Wheat gluten is a natural additive obtained from
wheat proteins. lt makes the bread lighter and more
vo|uminous. The bread Ía||s in more rare|y and it is
more easi|y digestib|e' The efÍect can be easi|y ap-
preciated when baking wholemeal and other bakery
products made oÍhome-miIled f|our.
. The black malt used in some recioes is dark-roasted
barley malt. lt is used to obtain a darker bread crust
and soft part (e.9. brown bread). Rye malt is also
suitable but it is not as dark. You can find this ma|t ín
whole food shops,
. You can add bread spices to all of our mixed breads.
Add to taste or manufacturer soecifications.
. Pure lecithin powder is a natural emulsifier that
improves the volume of the bread, makes the soft part
soÍter and lighter and keeps it fresh |onger'
2. Adapting the doses
lf the doses need to be increased or reduced, make sure
that the proportions oÍthe origina| recipe are maintained.
To obtain a perfect result, the basic rules below for the
adapting of the ingredient doses must be Ío||owing:
. Liquids/flour: the dough ought to be soft (not too
soÍt) and easy to knead without becoming stringy.
A ballcan be obtained by kneading it lightly. This is
not the case with heavy doughs like rye wholemeal
or cerea| bread' Check the dough Íive minutes aÍter
the first kneading. lf it is too moist, add some flour
untiI the dough has reached the right consistency. |Í
the dough is too dry add a spoonfuI oÍwater at a time
during the kneading.
. Replacing liquids: When using ingredients con-
taining liquids in a recipe (e.9. curd cheese, yogurt,
etc.), the required amount of liquid must be reduced.
When using eggs beat them in the measuring beaker
and fill it with the other required liquid up to the envi-
saged amount.
lf you are living in a place located at a high altitude (more
than 750 m) the dough rises faster. The yeast can be
reduced in these cases by l/a to 1/z oÍa teaspoon to pro-
portiona||y reduce its rising. The same is true oÍp|aces
with particu|ar|y soÍt Water.
3. Adding and measurlng the ingredients and quan-
tities
. Always put in Íirstthe liquid and the yeast at the
end. To avoid that the yeast acts too fast (in particular
when using the timing Íunction), contact between the
yeast and the liquid must be avoided.
When measuring use the same measuring units,
that is to say use either the measuring spoon supplied
with the bread baking machine or a spoon used in
your home when the recipes require doses measured
in tablespoons and teaspoons.
The measures in grams must be weighed precisely.
For the millimeter indications you can use the sup-
plied measuring beaker which has a graduated scale
of 50 to 200 ml.

4. Bread weights and volumes
. You will see that the weight of pure white bread is less
than that of wholemeal bread. This depends on the
Íact that white Í|ourraises more and hence limits need
to be posed.
. The actual bread weight depends much on the air hu-
midity of the room at the moment of the preparation.
. All breads with a substantial portion of wheat reach a
large volume and exceed the container edge after the
last rising in the case of the highest weight class. But
the bread does not spi|l over. The part oÍthe bread
outside the tin is more easily browned compared to
the bread in the tin.
. When the QU|CK program is suggested Íorsweet-
breads, you can use the ingredients in smaller quan-
tities also for the SWEET program to make a lighter
bread.
5. Baking results
. The result of the baking depends on the on-site con-
ditions (soft water - high air humidity - high attitude
- consistenöy of the ingredients, etc.)' ThóreÍore, the
recipe indications are reference points which can be
adapted. lf one recipe or another does not go straight
the first time, do not let yourself be discouraged.
Try to find the cause and try it again by varying the
proportions.
. lf the bread is too bright|y co|ored aÍter baking, you
can continue baking in the hot air mode untildone.
. |t is recommended to bake a test bread beÍoreactua|-
ly setting the timing function for use overnight so that
you can make the necessary changes iÍnecessary.

owing its greater content of gluten.
Remedy:
a) Reduce the amount oÍflour and adjust the
amounts of the other ingredients. When the bread
is ready, it will still have a large volume.
b) Spread a tablespoon of heated liquefied margari-
ne on the flour.
The bread rises and spills over anyway
a) |Ía V.shaped ditch forms in the midd|e oÍthe
bread, the flour does not have enough gluten.
This means that the wheat contains too little prote-
in (it happens during especially rainy summers) or
that the flour is too moist.
Remedy: add one tab|espoon oÍwheat g|uten for
500 g of wheat.
b) IÍthe bread has a funnel shape in the midd|e'
the possible cause can be one oÍthe Íollowing:
- the water temperature was too high;
- too much waler was used;
- the flour was poor in gluten.
- draÍt caused by opening the lid whi|e baking.
When can you open the door oÍthe microwave
when baking?
Generally speaking, it is always possible while the
kneading is underway. During this phase small quanti-
ties oÍflour or liquid can sti|| be added.
lf the bread must have a particu|ar aspect aÍter
baking, proceed as Ío||ows:Careful|y and brieÍ|y open
the door before the last rising (depending on the
program, the display must show a remaining time of
about 1:30), remove the baking pan and carve the
Íorming bread crust using a sharp, preheated kniÍe or
sprinkle grains on top, or brush the bread crust with
a cornstarch/water mixture to give it a glazed look
once baked. You can open the microwave for the last
time in this given period. The bread will collapse if you
miss this step.
What do the type numbers Íorflour mean?
The lower the type number, the less roughage the
flour contains and the lighter it will be.
What is who|emeal Í!our?
Who|emealÍlour is made of al|types of cerea|s
including wheat. The term 'Wholemeal" means that
the flour was ground Írom who|e grain and hence it
has greater contents of roughage thus making the
wheat who|emea| Í|ourdarker. However, the use oÍ
wholemeal flour does not make the bread darker as it
is widely believed.
What must be done when using rye flour?
Rye Í|our does not contain any g|uten and the bread
hardly rises. In order to make it easily digestible a rye
wholemeal bread with leaven is to be made.
The dough wi|| rise on|y if one part oÍ550 type flour is
added to every four parts oÍrye Ílour without g|uten'
What is the gluten in flour?
The higher the type number, the lower the gluten
contents oÍthe Í|ourare and the less the dough wi||
nse.
The highest quantity oÍgluten is contained in 550 type
Í|our.
How many different flour types are there and how
are they used?
a) Corn, rice and potato f|our are suitab|e Íor peop|e
a||ergic to g|uten or Íor those who suffer from
sprue or celiac disease. See the relevant recipes
in the operating instructions.
b) Spelt Í|ouris Very expensive, but it is Íree Írom
chemical additives because spelt grows on very
pool soil and requires no fertilizers. Spelt flour is
especially suitable for allergic people. lt can be
used in all those recipes described in the opera-
ting instructions requiring Í|our types 405' 550 or
1 050.
c) Millet flour is especially suitable for people
suffering Írom many al|ergies. |t can be used in a||
recipes requiring Í|our types 405' 550 or 1050 as
described in the operating instructions.
d) Durum wheat Í|ouris suitab|e for baguettes thanks
to its consistency and it can be replaced with
durum wheat semolina.
How can fresh bread be made easier to digest?

At the preset time the microwave begins cooking.
Attention: This preprogramming mode is possible only
in the microwave, hot air and gri|lÍunction as we|| as the
combo and bread baking programs. Preprogramming is
impossible in allother automatic programs and defrost
programs.
Caution, danger oÍfire! The device must never be |eÍt
unattended during operation. When setting a delayed
cooking time always ensure that when the device is
operating it is not left unattended.
Do not operate the microwave oven when it is empty. lf
you remove the cooked Íoodbefore the programme has
iinisned, the programme must be cancelled by pressing
the sToP button.
After the time has expired the device switches oÍfand the
word "END" appears in the display. Now remove the food.
Automatic Reminder
After cooking has finished you are reminded every
3 minutes by a beep to remove the food.
This reminder is switched oÍfby opening the door or
pressing the STOP button.
Disabling
Press the SToP button Íor more than 2 seconds to disab-
|e the machine. The Íact that the machine is disab|ed is
then shown in the display. The function of the operating
contro|s is now b|ocked. Press the STOP button again Íor
more than 2 seconds to reactivate the machine.
Error Messages
During operation ,,ErrO" or ,,Err1" appears in the display.
In this case there is a problem with the electronic control
unit.
Please send the device to our service centre with a
description oÍthe Íault.
Cleaning

Accessories
. The glass plate should occasionally be cleaned with

with a mild detergent and clean the kneading pegs.
. lt is highly recommended to coat the new baking tin
and the kneading pegs with heat resistant grease be-
Íoreusing them Íorthe first time and let them heat in
the oven Íor about 10 minutes at 160.C' once these
have cooled down clean away (polish) the grease

out the oven with a soft cloth.
