Introduction & Safety
Thank you
Congratulations on your choice of the Bose
®
3•2•1 advanced remote control. By program-
ming this new remote to work with your other
components, you can extend the convenience of
your 3•2•1 home entertainment system, for even
greater enjoyment.
Before you begin programming or using the
remote, you need to install the batteries. For
instructions, refer to “Installing remote control
batteries” on page 4.
As soon as you install the batteries, you can use
this new remote to turn your 3•2•1 system on
and off. By pressing any of the remote source
buttons, you can select the system source you
want to hear and turn the system on at the same
time.
For instructions on preparing the remote for use
with other products, refer to “Programming the
advanced remote” on page 4.
If your 3•2•1 system is set up as suggested in
the owner’s guide that came with the system,
you can turn on the media center by simply
pressing the
Video 1
button on your remote.
Information about products that generate electrical noise
If applicable, this equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits
for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are
designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a resi-
dential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio fre-
quency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions,
may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, this is no
guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equip-
ment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can
be determined by turning the equipment off and on, you are encouraged to try to
correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
• Connect the equipment to an outlet on a different circuit than the one to
which the receiver is connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

Unauthorized modification of the receiver or radio remote control could void
the user’s authority to operate this equipment.

Installing remote control batteries
1. On the back of the remote, slide open the
battery compartment (Figure 1).
2. Insert the two supplied AA (IEC-R6) 1.5V
batteries, or their equivalent, as shown.
Match the plus (+) and minus (–) marked on
the batteries with the plus (+) and minus (–)
inside the battery compartment.
3. Slide the battery compartment cover back
into place.
Note:
Replace the batteries when the remote
control stops operating or its range seems
reduced.

Find the four-digit setup code for your cable box,
satellite box, or TV in the Appendix at the end of
this guide.

There may be more than one code listed for
your model of a particular product brand.
If you notice a lack of response or limited
functionality after programming the remote,
you may need to use a different code for
that product.
Note:
When the remote is programmed
for use with both the cable/satellite box and
the TV, the channel controls on the remote
will change channels on the cable/satellite
box and not on the TV
.

To control the TV
1. Turn on both the 3•2•1 system and your TV.
2. Press and hold the
Program
and
TV On/Off
buttons (shown on the left) for 3 seconds.
The remote Source buttons will light to
signal that you have entered programming
mode.
3. Use the number keys to enter your TV’s
four-digit setup code.
4. Press
Program
once to complete program-
ming. The remote will flash once to indicate
successful programming. To confirm that,
use the remote to turn your TV on and off or
change channels.
Note:
If your advanced remote flashes rapidly
several times during programming, an error has
occurred. Wait 7 seconds for the remote to clear
and begin programming again.
To control the cable/satellite box
1. Turn on both the 3•2•1 system and your
cable/satellite box.
2. Press and hold the
Program

Guide
buttons (shown on the left) for 3 seconds.

Getting familiar with the added functions
Buttons on the remote control are grouped
according to function. Most of the buttons work
just like the 3•2•1 system remote buttons.
The advanced functionality is highlighted below.
POWER and MUTE controls
SOURCE SELECTION controls
Switches the system on or off.
Switches the TV on or off.
Does not turn cable box or satellite box
on or off.
Mutes/unmutes the system volume.
Selects Video 1 as the sound source
and turns the system on.
Unmutes the system volume.
Changes the input selection on the TV.
Selects the built-in CD/DVD player and
turns the system on.
Unmutes the system volume.
Selects AUX as the sound source and
turns the system on.
Unmutes the system volume.
Selects Video 2 as the sound source
and turns the system on.
Unmutes the system volume.
Selects the built-in tuner and turns the
system on to the previously selected
AM station.
Unmutes the system volume.
Selects the built-in tuner and turns the
system on to the previously selected
FM station.

Note:
When selecting numbers 1 through 9,
entering a zero before the number ensures the
fastest response.
PLAYBACK controls
Select a channel when TV Video
1 is on.
Each button gives you access
to a similarly numbered DVD
chapter, CD track, or radio
station preset.
Returns to the TV or cable/satel-
lite channel previously selected.
Enters the selected channel.
Stops the disc player and,
for
DVDs only
, temporarily holds
the place where the disc
stopped. Press
Stop
again and
the player moves to the begin-
ning of the disc.
Pauses the disc player in place.
After 20 minutes, switches to
Stop.
Starts the disc player.
Scans back or forward for DVD
chapters, CD tracks, or the
next strongest radio station.
Plays audio CD tracks (not DVD
chapters) in varied order. Press
again to cancel this mode.
Repeats a CD, CD track, DVD
chapter, or DVD title until the
button is pressed again.
