1. Product overview
The WALRUS is the outdoor gateway(should with box protection) Gateway with
professional
specifications quipment with 2 receiving channels. Several thousands end nodes around
the
gateway can communication. And gateway with a sensitivity of -138 dBm and a maximum
power of 500 mW you can easily reach the most distant nodes. No technical skills are
needed to operate this device. Just plug it in and you are connected to all the things around
you.

3. Key feature
3.1 Distance
Maximum connection distance is ~10km in open terrain, buildings and metal structures do
hinder the transmission. Experience learns that distances of 3-5km are realistic if the
gateway is mounted on a (high) point with free sight.
3.2 Nodes handle
10-20 thousand is a theoretical maximum, under the assumption that nodes only send once
per hour. Due to collisions, resend packets, packet loss etc, the number of nodes that can
effectively be handled is lower, typically 8 thousands.
3.3 Update
If any update or parameter setting on the gateway, no need to field operation, software
remotely control can be used.
3.4 Hoc network
Once the device installation, no need to link the device with gateway, device can select the
gateway which with the better signal intensity.
